New Star Trek Series

So recently I got thinking, with the success of the new Star Trek movies, how would a new television series fair? Probably the closest example would be the return of Doctor Who to the air which, as most anyone could tell you, has been a massive success.

So my question for you is, should a new series come to TV (a new cast, of course, although it would be nice to see Shatner, Stewart, or some of the older actors), would you watch it?

I LOOVE Star Trek, and, because I havent had the chance to see the oldest episodes, I would love that the series were remade. I dont mind if its with different or the same actors, as long as it is like the old series

Ugh. I got my hopes up from this thread title and thought there was actually a new series in the works. I feel so silly and disappointed now.

Yes. Yes, I would. Star Trek hasn't been away from television all that long (compared to something like Doctor Who before it was brought back), but it would be great to bring it back and give it a makeover of sorts and bring it back to the old "wagon train to the stars" idea. I think it would be great to have something that's scifi and hopeful at the same time. There's a lot of science fiction out there that's got too much "the future is dangerous" kind of vibe (when it's not just action disguised as scifi) so there's a void that would be filled by a hopeful show.

I would watch it like whoa. I've been waiting for a new one for a while now... I just hope it comes true one day.

The newest movies don't only refresh the Star Trek franchise, they are actually pretty great movies regardless of legacy too.

If a series would be made now, set during the five year mission after Into Darkness :D, they would need to keep the cast from the movies to make it as good as it deserves to be. Idk if they feel like stepping down to television rather than keep making feature movies.
