    New Years Extravaganza Graphics Event

    Hosted by moments. and Alternative.
    Are you interested in graphics? Is your forte in Photoshop or Gimp? Come here to showcase your talent in graphics in the New Years Graphics Event! There will be three sections for people to compete in, including icons, tags and large pieces.
    Winners of each section will earn themselves an Emblem, and everyone get's one for participating in this event.

    Rules
    - You can only post one entry per section, but you can enter for every section if you want to.
    - If you have more graphics to add, edit your original post.
    - You can edit your graphics anytime throughout the week, until the end of the event.
    - This event will run from the 29th December - 4th January. Please submit your entries before the end of the event.
    - Regarding Icons, size MUST be 100px x 100px.
    - Tags will have the max size of 500px x 300px.
    - Large Pieces will have the max size of 1600px x 1200px. Please keep these within spoiler tags.
    - Absolutely no submitting older work for this event.
    - Have fun making your graphics.

    Theme
    This is a New Years event, so the event will be based on the event. The theme of this event will be of course:

    A New Year

    What does a new year mean to you? How would you take this meaning and express it as a graphic? Take this theme and grasp it firmly to make an icon, tag or large piece to suit your style, and the theme of a New Year.

    Just like to say, good luck to everyone who intends on entering.
    And remember, you don't have to be the greatest with Photoshop to win. Factors like originality and the concept play a big part in deciding a winner, so don't feel intimidated by other artists. If you've got a good idea, enter it!

    Yes you can enter animated I guess, but we are not judging on animation or bonus points. Unless it is really good animation and the images are good as graphic art, then you can, but I honestly can't see it being too successful.
    If it is just like a GIF image, it would have to be pretty original and good quality to win.

    As long as it fits the requirements for the piece you're making, and fits with the theme I can't see why it can't be animated.

    To everyone, remember to edit your old posts with links to your graphics that you have made. We don't want to be going through lots of posts from users with only one graphic in each. Also keep in mind that the end date has been changed from thr 31st of December to the 4th of January, to give more time for people to make their graphics.

    Just to clarify some things:

    -Most of 2011 will be year of the Rabbit, according to the Chinese Zodiac. Reisen and Tewi (the girls in the icon) are moon and earth rabbits respectively.

    -The girl in the large piece is Fujiwara no Mokou. To quote the Touhou Wiki:
    Due to her power of resurrection and ability to control fire, Mokou is often depicted as having the same powers as the mythical phoenix (She even has spell cards called "Possessed By Phoenix" and "Immortal Flying Bird Phoenix"), even occasionally generating what appears to be a phoenix-shaped aura. Fans like to depict this as "wings of fire", but in canon, she only controls the flames of the phoenix in her spells. The phoenix is probably more of an aura depicting her immortality.
