Nintendo Revolution: What's your thoughts?

What you opinion on the Revolution and it's controller?

The controller looks... well, /wrong/ to me. It looks fun, and innovative and what not, but I don't think you'll be able to get many 'solid' games out of it. Not like we currently do on our darling ninty console.
Though... I like the diea of being able to download past games.
 
Am I the only person who has noticed that Nintendo hasn't shown a single screenshot for an actual GAME for the Revolution?
 
People seem to be denouncing the controller because they're presuming that traditional games would be impossible to play with it. I wish people wouldn't be so hopelessly pessimistic and just realize that there's no way that Nintendo or any sane group of people could possibly be completely oblivious to such a flaw if it were to exist, and that there has to be more to the system than people's superficial assumptions. I'm just hoping E? can shut everyone up for a while. I'm something of a blind optimist.

Charon: You should see all the third party game makers that love the controller. I don't think it'll be hard for Nintendo to have games with this new system.

GodofPH: Because there aren't any. But you'll see it at E3 this year. Don't look for the best graphics, don't look for something that'll make you go "WOW it looks so real!". The graphics of the system will be a little better then the X-Box's.


Ok time for an Andy Nintendo rant (I know all of you love my rants on Nintendo XD).

Nintendo: First a little something on the big N.
As most of know Nintendo does things different and out of the norm (and most of the time it has something to do with their controller). They changed things back on the NES when it came out with the D-Pad. Everything before that was a Joy-Stick. And then the SNES has L and R buttons. And then the N64 had an analog stick, and it also had a rumble pack, and also had 4 controller ports. The GC had a wireless controller (sure other off brands might have had wireless controllers but Nintendo was the first to make out of the big three). When the DS came along it had a touch screen as well as two screens (none of the other hand helds before or after had that). And they are doing it yet again with the Revolution.

The System: On graphics and CPU power it's not going to be the best. IMO it's not going to be close to the PS3 and the 360. But Nintendo never was one to blow all the others away with graphics and the CPU. The Revolution is going to be something out of the norm. You won't find stuff that's on the Rev on the 360 or the PS2. You can download old NES, SNES and N64 games. You can't find that on the other two. The controller is totally different (more on that below). A lot of the games that's going to be on it will be totally different (I bet you'll see a lot of "Only For" on their games). It's just going to be way different then the 360 and PS3.
The only let down for me with the Revolution is, it still only has 4 controller ports. Looks like they could have added 6-8 ports.

The Controller: (from this point on I'm going to call the controller the "Remote" and the shell the "Controller")
Whoever says "The remote will be the downfall of Nintendo" or "The remote is stupid, they needed to go with the old way" needs to read up on it. I mean the remote has a port on the bottom, that's where you plugin the analog stick, that port could be used for tons of things (open your mind to different things, lets say a fighting game, you got straps for your hands and feet, you can punch and kick that way. Or plug it into a steering wheel for racing games. Or plugin a keyboard to talk to friends if they got a chat room thing). And on top of that, Nintendo is going to have a shell for the remote. It's going to be like a normal controller. That controller is going to be like the GC controller. You'll be able to play SSB like that (or at least I hope), you'll be able to use that to play third party games (ones that's for all three systems). That shell is what got me to love the remote (at first I was like "Awww man, that's going to suck". But I read up on what it can do and I read that it will have a shell like the old controller style). And for all we know Nintendo might have a shell for the SNES, N64 and GC (a Rev style and GC style). As we all know all them controllers look really different. So a shell for all them systems will be great.
And the remote will be great for FPS (First-Person Shooter) games. A lot of FPSers don't buy FPS games on the systems because the controller isn't made for them type of games (the mouse is way better). But the remote might just out do the mouse for FPS and might be way better. I mean it'll be like holding the gun in your hand, you get to point it around and shoot like you was really there. I can't way to play an FPS (I never played a Metroid game other then the demo I got with the DS, but I might just pick up the Metroid game for the Rev).
And you can also use it for a sword. I can't wait to play LoZ: TP with the remote. I'm going to swing the sword and fight using the remote. And I can't wait to play a Star Wars game and use a Lightsaber. I'll be able to be there and fight by swinging the sword and not just tapping a button or moving the analog stick around.
Stuff like that is why the Revolution remote is going to be really really really great. To me it'll be the best thing that happened to gaming since the analog stick back on the N64. Nintendo is setting a trend again, by doing things different then the others. They kind of keep one step ahead of everyone in the gaming market. No D-Pad, after Nintendo everyone used it. No analog stick, after Nintendo everyone used it. No rumble pack, after Nintendo everyone used it. No L & R buttons, after Nintendo everyone used it. No 4 controller ports, after Nintendo everyone used it.
Will Nintendo do it again and the gen after the next we'll see Sony and Microsoft do the way of Nintendo? Time will tell. But for the next gen, I think Nintendo is going to do well, and I can't wait to get my hands (or hand) on that remote/controller of theirs. It's something new, it's something fresh, something unheard of, it's Nintendo's doing.

I agree with Arcanine, the Revolution is going in a different direction than the other two but as you may or may not have noticed with the DS, they're on to something. The graphics won't be as good as the rest but I have heard that they will look like the launch titles for the 360 which aren't that good looking because most were rushed and/or developers aren't yet familiar with the capabilities and the hardware. I am happy with the Revolution and the controller is awesome IMO. The 4 ports that are on it are good enough for me since splitting the screens into four is already limiting enough if you don't have a big TV. The point is that Nintendo is trying to expand the market and they have already done so by 7 percent with the DS and they should add to that with the Rev. The system looks very sleek and cool and it is small which is good, at least for me.

i love both. The controller looks really cool and the console sounds great.
But think for just a second SSB online that is a solid reason to by it right there also you can youse the Gamecube controller as well so hey I am lovin it.
Plus it will cost a lot less that 360 and PS3.

Now, I like both of them. The Console is self explanitory. But the controler is cool. All the recent controlers are circles and squares with little things comeing out. But this... is another story. It's a REMOTE! How origonal is that! I'm going to implant the remote in my head, and watch the character do the same. XD Plus, all you TV hogs will know how to use it like the back of your hand.

In short,
REV IS GONNA FRIGGIN BLOW XBOX 360 AND PS3 OFF THE TOP OF THE BEST CONSOLE LISTS!!​

Hmm.... as much as I want to like it, I feel it can't top N64 and Cube. Cube was essentially an update of the N64, and n64 was the greatest system ever. So, I don't know, but for now I'm sticking to my two favorites =)

The Revolution is exactly what it says on the box A REVOLUTION only nintendo would come up with something like that!! Who cares if it doesn't have gigs of power or RAM , the thing that makes me by a console is if it's new and has brilliant games on it not if it can play a crummy game with blinding graphics!!

Come on Sonic The Hedgehog 2 = 16bit =one of the greatest games in the world
Final Fantasy 7+ bread for arms with spikey muscles = brilliant game
Pokemon Red and Blue = one of the best things nintendo ever did

Th evidence is against graphics so far.....

The controller, looks a bit odd but should be cool if you can dual wield two of them in a FPS and use them as two guns on the same screen, or if you could use tham as a light saber battling the evil forces of the Empire Buzz, crash "Luke I am your Father!" "noo!!!"!

Backwards compatabillity is a brilliant idea, even though you might have to pay for them, I'll happily pay ?1 for a NES title, ?2.50 for a SNES title or ?5.00 for an N64 title. I'd be happy to pay ?2.50 to play Famicon Wars (the original advanse wars)!!

Another brilliant thing about it is the WIFI nintendo have stated that It'll use the same WIFI than the ds and this is how you download the past console games, maby this is will connect to the DS, I dunno, but one thing is sure IT'S FREE just like the DS it's free to deck the aussies in Super smash bros. 3 (confirmed online title)!! Yippeee!!

At this point, the only thing I'm liking is the prospect of playing all of those old-school games. The system itself looks dorky, and the remote looks like something Arale-chan would poke with a stick. I find no innovation with swinging a remote control/jump rope combo around like I have a nervous twitch. If I wanted to do that, I'd buy a Xavix. But hey, like I've said, I actually challenge Nintendo to surprise me.

If you seen Metroid Prime 3 pics (as in the one on the Rev) then they are fake.


Oh and I'll add another little thing about the Rev. Like Ziggy said, it'll be Wi-Fi. But how many of you knew it'll have download play like the DS? Lets say you invite a friend over that also has a Rev, he brings it and hooks it up on another TV. The Rev has download play so you'll be able to battle each other on different TVs. Some of you are thinking "That's stupid, there's no use for that". Maybe, but how many of you have played a 2 Player FPS or a 2 player racing game (or better yet, a 4 player one)? Don't you just hate that split screen? I'm thinking with the Rev it might do away with that if you have 2 TVs and 2 Revolutions.

The Xbox 360 and the PS3 won't get off the floor, The 360 already has microsoft worried about if it has the same problem as the Xbox (that it almost made them bankruped(if thats how you spell it), not Microsoft, but the gaming part of it)

Th PS3's coming out at about ?400, which I'm not paying for something about 2ft tall and wide (I don't have enough space for my new DVD player for gods sake!!) and if you look at the confirmed release titles there not that good: Killzone 2 = Big woop, if it's as good as the last one it'll blow and be in the bargain basket the day after release. Project Zero 3 = The first two were no hopers, with there combination of resi and silent hill, but badly made and the only freigtening thing about it is the dreadfull Resi 1 'walk pass' zombies and...... Gran tourismo 5 = the first two were brilliant, third one lacking speed, and the forth one you couldn't turn on so hopefully they'll get there act together and bring out a good one!!
 
If you ask me Nintendo have got something big planned to go with teh revolution and theyre doine verything to keep it quite..
Love teh ideas of downloadin teh old games and teh new controller is gonna bring great fun you can just tell lol, cant wait Nintendo show us how much bette ryou are than PS3 and Xbox 360!!
