This is my Noctowl, I'm kinda famous for it:

    Noctowl@Light Clay
    Nature:Calm
    Night Shade/Air Slash
    Hypnosis
    Reflect
    Whirlwind
    EV:252 HP, 120 SP.DEF, 70 SPF, 68 SP.ATK (If I choose Air Slash)

She is my team's Sleep inducer, Reflect caster, and Shuffler. She has worked wonders on my team. I'm having trouble with EV's, and if Night Shade is better than Air Shade...

Air Shade? XD, but I personally think that Air Slash is better.

You can shove Roost on it if you want, to make it last a bit longer.

You might want to take a few evs out of Sp.Att and put them into Def or Sp.Def, because lets face it its's not going to sweep is it lol

    I dont know ...... 252 HP / 190 SP.DEF / 68 DEF just to make it a bit more Bulky.

    *Gets Shot*

[Yeah, I was also thinking of Roost. But I think he prefers at least one attacking move.B][/B]

Yeah, its not sweeping, but after Reflect, you will need a serious hit to OHKO it-it survived a Stone Edge in the yellow. I was hoping it could be fast enough to set up Reflect.

It's base SP.ATK is a single point higher than Blissey. So either Night Shade or Air SLASH!!!

No i didnt mean replace its attacking move.

If you use Roost, it cancels out its Ice / Electric weakness on the turn you use it, so this might be something to consider.

EDIT : It will get walled by normal types if you use Night Shade, Air Slash gets STAB. So its your call

Oh. I see, you meant to replace one if it's defensive moves. I would replace Whirlwind if you don't have something like Skarm on the Team. Edit: adding to Dark's comment, Shadow Ball on Curselax=dominated.

    IV wise, Hoothoot has 20 SP.ATK IV's.

Yeah but he could also take Hypnosis off it. I dunno it kinda needs Whirlwind to Psuedo Haze and stop stat uppers .

I know you have a Bronzong which can learn Hypnosis instead of this.

EDIT: My Regice has 12 Sp.Att Ivs and it 2HKO'D a Slowbro with Thunderbolt (non critical hit). If its not going to sweep then its attack Ivs dont matter, its more of a support pokemon.

Naw, Brozong set is full, can't hold Hypnosis.

    However, I will consider Roost.

Should I remove all SPEED IV's?

    In third Gen lol

Also I dont think Ghost attacks effect normal types. If thats what you meant unless i misunderstood

EDIT: Sims, well does it need to out run anything if its a support pokemon? I wouldnt know but things near its base speed may be vital for you to outrun so you can get a reflect up for Example Tyranitar. However i wouldnt know as i dont use noctowl, although its tempting after ive seen its huge Hp and good Special defense.

Oh, yeah, EV's. I didn't start training this new Hoothoot.

So should I remove SPD EV's?

Oh yeah, I forgot that Ghost Types don't affect Flying. I didn't know what I was talking about there. XD. If the "SPF" means Speed, Sims, then I wouldn't. But he does have respectible Defenses, still he won't be able to survive long enough to OHKO his counter, my vote is a no.

    So minor Speed IV's:

    252 HP/120 SP.DEF/48 SPD/60 SP.ATK/30 DEF?

    Yeah use that one

    Or

    252 HP / 190 SP.DEF / 68 DEF for Bulky.

Anyways its up to you, its your Noctowl.

    I might go with Bulky.

However, I might stick with Night Shade. Can't relearn Night Shade.

It's all up to you. Your Noctowl. Just wait for other suggestions to pop up, and see what you like best. Bleach might find a good set.

Just be careful with Night Shade, you'll get walled by Normal Types.

EDIT: Saying that you can whirlwind them away so maybe Night Shade is better !!

EDIT 2 : Goodness i cant believe it learns Sky Attack by move re-learner 0_O, How strange .
