Question: Not approving my threads?

You guys are lucky this doesn't happen on a flipping Pokemon forum. Moderators, depending on who they are, may reiterate certain parts of the rules to you, but for the most part, they are to be understood. You guys just don't want to read them and to be honest, thats your fault. You should have read them; the mods aren't going to hold your hand 24/7 and tell you everything you need to know.
Just thought I should comment on this. It's true, most moderators aren't going to hold your hand and tell you what you should do, teach you the right way to do something, and tell you what you shouldn't do (until it comes to that). Some - no, most - moderators, however, are willing to meet a member halfway and give members who don't necessarily know what they're doing around here or are intimidated for whatever reason to do something a helping hand during their time.

With that said, there are plenty of members in the community who are more than willing to do the same. It doesn't have to be someone on the staff, but for some reason some members feel that it does. But moderators are not people who are here to yell at you for whatever you do wrong. And, like always, people always think we're doing things just to get them out of spite because they think we don't like them.

I've had this happen to me before, too, in the moveset & strategies forum on another account. I checked everyday for a week, and was never informed that my topic "didn't meet requirements"; however, when it comes to infractions, I'm instantly sent a rude PM telling me what I did wrong (even though another mod' already talked to me about it). Perhaps that's more of an extreme spot, but it's not that difficult to send a quoted copy of the post to the thread creator and say "You've done this wrong". That'd definitely be the more considerate option, rather than just deleting it and not telling what went wrong.

That's like handing in homework and the teacher putting an F on it without circling errors and mentioning "not enough detail", etc. That's a pretty crappy teacher.

Clearly you fail to see the difference between a teacher and a moderator. If you could, you never would have used that analogy. As members, you are expected to read the rules that we have clearly posted (and stickied!) and follow them as such. If you don't follow them, that's not our problem. Under no circumstance is it a mod's job to teach you how to improve nor set out every reason as to why what you did was wrong.

You didn't read the rules thoroughly.

That's the only real explanation for a thread not being approved after spending "a long time" working on it.

Being as familiar with the section in question as I am, I conclude that you probably had no actual progress on your project, leading to it not being approved.

I'm going to have to agree with the staff on this one. Moderators, while they are expected to have a certain level of tact and friendliness to get the job, they aren't expected to hold your hand. Quite frankly, I find it to be a usually nice gesture for a moderator to PM you instead of keeping quiet or infracting you for whatever it was.

Like just today, Chibi-chan took time to point out some new rules in OVP concerning some threads I'd reported in OC and suggested for moving to OVP. (She didn't have to do that really, she could have easily found some way to infract me. x3)

I'm gonna touch on the original topic of this, and say that if you submit a thread that you poured your blood, sweat, and tears into setting up, only to have it be deleted.. then here's something: Copy/Paste it into Word/Notepad before you submit it.

That way, if the thread is denied, then you'll still have everything that you typed up, and you can go in and edit it, rather than having to re-do the entire thing. The moderators in that area understand that sometimes members spend a lot of time on the threads they submit, but they still have to do their job and deny it if it doesn't meet the requirements. If you didn't think to save all that you typed up, that's on you, and not something you should get mad at them for. @_@

If people would just do that, and save it in a notepad file, it would really reduce the amount of threads like this, and disappointed members whose work was disapproved of. Always save posts that are lengthy, or at least copy 'em. Just sayin'.

If it makes you feel any better, S&M no longer has mod approval. So post away.

Seems like I got backed up quite a bit in this thread. Anyway, thanks guys, but I'll have it resolved later when Luke sends me the original copy back, and tells me what needs to be improved. So..thanks again?
