Now that we have more info - are you buying on release?

Possibly wait a bit after initial impressions.
It took the day-of release for folks to start noticing what's wrong with Scarlet and Violet after all.
Hopefully unlike the original Lumiose City, there are no game-breaking bugs this time.

Neither, I'm probably going to pre-order it, like I've done with the past several games. I'm looking forward to it! Fingers crossed the battling system is better than Legends: Arceus (particularly the Agile Style / Strong Style features- that was really obnoxious).

I'm curious if it will be on the new Switch 2 console thus the late release. The holidays will likely have it discounted just a bit (or not)
For me, I'll hopefully buy it somewhere in the year 2026 as things will be ironed out already

I'm going to wait until reviews come out to ensure there aren't any SV-style performance issues / game-breaking bugs.

As with any Pokémon RPG, I'll likely pre-load it and be ready to play it on day one. No way would I be missing out :D

Fingers crossed it'll have some kind of added Switch 2 features given it's due for the late end of the year.

I normally would buy on release day but after Scarlet and Violet I'm a bit hesitant. I wont deny that I had fun playing Scarlet, but the quality of the game worries me. Much of the map still looks like a wasteland sprinked with Unity Asset Store props.

With Nintendo being the biggest/wealthiest gaming company, it feels insulting that they expect us to pay $70+ for a game that janky.

If its going to be on the Switch 2 then I probably will wait though. I dont know if I can justify buying a new console when I barely touch my switch these days as it is.

Most of the time Pokemon games come out at or around my birthday (in November), so no doubt this game will be on my birthday list this year :D

Of course I will be playing it on day one!

I absolutely think it will be. Because in their showcases they've used the words "will be released on switch consoles line" or something similar

There's a good chance I won't buy it at all - what I saw in the trailer didn't impress me in the least.

Now, suppose a future trailer reveals something that changes my mind. I still wouldn't buy it on release day. The inconsistent (and declining) quality of Pokemon releases means that I'm not playing Russian Roulette by buying something that could have serious bugs and performance issues upon release.

It also gives me a chance to check out reviews and Let's Plays to determine whether to make a purchase. That strategy has helped me avoid terrible Pokemon games before, so I'll continue to use it.
