Well, somehow or another I started to defocus from the fanservice in The Severing Crime Edge. If that's possible, anything is.

I don't mind too much fanservice, as long as it's not used as a substitute for good story and likeable characters. Sometimes fanservice can actually add to their personality, while other times it can just remind you of how little personality they have :P

It has done a very good job of highlighting, on many occasions, how poorly an interesting concept can be handled. (See: the aforementioned Crime Edge.)

*slow clap* you're one of the few. Like, when high school of the dead came out and everyone watched it for the jiggles that rivaled Dead or Alive

Well of course the plot comes first. But if the character designs as a whole appeal to me then I do watch it all the way.

If we're talking truly successful fan service, it shouldn't come for quantity, nor extended flesh exposure.

A well-crafted piece of fan service is a thing of wonder. It comes when you don't expect it to. It comes from a source you never knew you wanted it to come from. And it is intimate. It makes you go "whoa, did that just happen?", while warmth spreads through your body and goosebumps prickle along your arms. It's the Gainax jiggle you don't take for granted.

I only watched SHAFT's true-to-the-manga OVAs. At least, those are the only ones I remember watching.

The Negima!? series is, while technically canon (as the Negima multiverse has an infinite amount of alternate realities), and being able to boast having a great set of opening themes, really just the prototype for PaniPoni Dash. Go watch PaniPoni Dash, btw.

No real interest in Negima. I should have probably read it years ago when I actually seeked out that sort of series. Still might be fun though, one day.

I've seen Moonphase, and am currently watching DIVB. The characters aren't quite as interesting or memorable as the ones in Moonphase, but I'm still enjoying it.

Watched Soul Eater NOT! episode 1. They changed Tsubaki's clothes for them to reveal more of her ample chest. Not sure if I like that. Good to see all the main characters as cameos, though! It was a fun episode, I guess. My first real venture into the moe genre, I suppose.

It isn't, I suppose, but I don't know what else to call it. Calling it "anime that belongs to moe category" every time would be tiring.

Or I could just say "My first venture into moe". Didn't think of that.

Edit: That's exactly what I think BONES is doing, Pokey. Wouldn't make sense to animate a spin-off like this otherwise. They might be gauging interest in the series with this. And trying to build up interest at the same time. I sure hope so. I want SE redone so bad. Soul Eater: Resonance. I'd like that. :p

Is the SE source material anywhere near as good as FMA's though?

It isn't your first venture into moe. Perhaps your first venture into episodic cute girls doing cute things but certainly not moe.

SE manga is a fun shounen. Not as good as FMA, but really fun.

And damn. That's disappointing. And here I thought I was finally experiencing what they call "moe". ;___;
