5th Gen Official Rumours Thread

Eww... such a boring combination. I didn't necessarily love 4th Gen, but at least the Water starter sported a different type combination: Water/Steel.

I saw a flooded area in the demo, beyond the forest, where half-sunken pillars rose out of a swamped area. Could there be weather effects and region-wide seasonal changes? I think that explains the difference in color between multiple screenshots of areas of Isshu that feature the spiky conifer trees.

In one shot they're a bright green, another, a cool green, and in the autumn shot, of course, orange. Do you think they could really include changing seasons and weather? One rumor I'm quite fond of... XD

It looked like they tested the flooding thing in HGSS at Lake of Rage. We have only had 1 water/fighting type so I see nothing wrong with it.

I think i saw Mijumaru use Shell blade and what looked like Revenge in the Demo video. Looks like it may be water/fighting type when it evolves.

Yeeees! I'm almost 100% that it'll be water/fighting right now.

I'm hoping so, since that would fit into the nature vs industry theme very well, too. lol are we going to get electricity storms? :(

But, I loooove the seasons thing <3

Extremely unrealistic. Even if you accept that it was drawn from memory or something like that I can tell you that it wasn't a Japanese person who drew it because their handwriting is all funky and unnatural looking. I'm calling it a hoax and a poor one at that.

...I didn't even look at the handwriting. XD;

Though looking at the shape again, then yeah it just looks... wrong.

Sagaiya (poison)

Evo for Arbok or Seviper??

HAHAHAHAHA NO. :(

Really, I guess I'd be ~fine~ if Mawile got an evolution and Sableye didn't, BUT, Zangoose and Seviper are sworn enemies. If Seviper was to get an evolution, Zangoose would have to, also. And I don't think Zangoose is going to get an evolution, which would... throw that idea out of the water. And idk/idc about Arbok.

Then again, it could just be a brand new Pokemon!

Asandshrew prevo would be cool and I would love a mawile evo

Water/Fighting is a pretty good combo, and it usually makes the pokemon pretty bulky.

Usually? You only have one Pokemon to judge it on. Though for the majority of fighting types, that is true. Not necessarily for water.

Well lots of water types have pretty high HP added with bulky attack and defense of Water types sounds/Is awesome ;)
Yeah it's true we only have one Water/Fighting that's why I think we need a new one...we haven't had a new one since gen 1...

All I know is that if Mijimaru does become water/fighting in the end, it would need to have lots of bulk in order to back up it's typing. Knowing that it's weak to Grass, Electric, Psychic, and yeah. With the amount of enemies it would have in the metagame(which would be a lot. Electric moves and psychic pokemon run pretty popular I would assume), thats enough reason why it should have enough bulk and HP, but I don't know. I mean, you see Celebi having mass amount of weaknesses and still being a problem in OU.

But then again Celebi has great stats and a movepool that isn't pitiful. I hope DerpDerp doesn't fall victim to a crappy movepool, as various pokemon were doomed to NU because of it.

Oh god, dont remind me about faileon and entei. :(

but hey, give flareon flare blitz in gen 5 and hopefully it can jump to UU at least

if its water/fighting, it is going to have to have A. insane defenses, B. very reliable recovery, or C. great movepool to survive in OU/UU, seeing as:

magnezone
electivire
zapdos
togekiss
jolteon
breloom
celebi
ludicolo
suicune
vaporeon
gengar
dusknoir
lanturn

and others

can resist its stabs, hit back with powerful supereffective ones of there own, be immune to its attacks, and grind it down with great defenses of there own

I agree with you there. If Flareon had a good movepool that actually made potential use of it's attack strength, it could actually be the next infernape. I mean, isn't it's base attack already higher than Infernape's iirc? That's so lame. >> Idk for Entei though, I haven't done much of my research on it.

And assuming that Gen IV's metagame still applies, this water/fighting pokemon would most likely be subject to:

  • Celebi
  • Togekiss
  • Alakazam
  • Cradily(even though it's weak to fighting, I'm pretty sure Cradily can wall it enough)
  • Electivire
  • Magnezone
  • SubPetayaEmpoleon(?)
  • Torterra to an extent, assuming Torterra can wall this thing's ice attacks
And yeah, that's all I can think of right now, and really....with the amount of enemies it would have, and adding on the new Pokemon that would probably be added...unless this thing has a godly movepool or something, I can see it being in a pretty tight spot at the moment.

Flareon doesn't have the speed for it, but it does have higher attack. However, it's a physical glass cannon. Entei is basically a legendary Flareon, and I'll quote Serebii to help me:

[jq]oh God, its movepool. It is catastrophic, to say the least. When Rock Smash is considered on its Choice Band set, you know things are bad.[/jq]

LOl the funny thing is that there is a theory of the original Entei being a Flareon :P. Yeah it is a Glass cannon...

Really? I like flamethrower as it is, and Fire Blast, Sacred Fire, etc.

...then again I think flamethrower is one of the best attacks out of all, so idk.

At least Entei finally got some new toys in the crown event. If Mijumaru does have fighting evo's hopefully it will get close combat.
