I donated on two accounts (this one and another one) and signed up to be a recurring supporter on both because I feel PC on a whole really deserves it.
Before I ever signed up for the site, I had been visiting as a guest to read through threads and to learn more about Pokemon gaming (I'm kind of new to the games) and after a while, I figured that it was time to give back to the community. The community on a whole is nice and fun to hang around and there's useful/helpful threads and topics everywhere.
I actually didn't even know/realize that there was some VIP forum (I read the donation thread, trust me, I guess I just didn't pay attention to that particular perk) though I admit that the blog and larger profile picture and avatar are nice to have since I like customizing things.
Another thing too is is that I know too well from first hand experience how much money it can cost to run a place like this. If I'm getting something useful from a non-commercial site like this, I like being able to say, "Hey thanks!" in a way that would be useful for the site and site owners/admins.
So I guess... since I never knew of the VIP forum, I couldn't have such a misconception? And I would say that 90% of my reason for donating would be just because I simply wanted to, felt like it, and because I could.
:)
