    Hey guys,

I used to play Pokemon back in the day and have not really followed the story/Pokemon since Red, I did play silver once though but never finished it because I lost the game boy on a bus once.

So, I bought AS and a 3DS because I am traveling a lot these days and I am bored of reading books all the time :P
I tried the game out and I was not very impressed, I wont bore you with a rant but the Pokemons are forgettable and are either pretty ugly or just plain weird (a key ring Pokemon? Really?) and the gym leaders and random challengers were really easy to beat nice my Pokemon out levelled them by 10 or 15 levels at all times, I did not even grind...

I think the only Pokemons that I captured and liked were Pikachu and my Rats (that became a Gardevoire or wtv later on).
Anyway, I have deleted my save and gonna start over again but I was wondering is there anyway I can get the original starter Pokemons like charmander, squirtle and Bulbasaur? Is AS really a good game or should I be trying out this X&Y thing? Also if I am interested in Online battles are my randomly caught Pokemon enough or do I need to do something else?

Thanks for your time mates, sorry for all the questions too, unfortunately the internet service I get here is atrocious and cuts off randomly.

Hey! Well, Alpha Sapphire is based off the first ever pokemon game for the GBA system, Sapphire, Ruby and Emerald, so the pokemon have been around for a while now, but if you've only played the first game I understand your confusion. Personally, X and Y in my opinion aren't worth playing simply because of their shallow storyline, awful postgame and pretty awful pokemon. If you want to get hold of the original starters, you could always trade with someone on the forum, I have a Charmander myself, and its easy to trade the starter you get in AS for one of those other starters.

You should definitely give the game another shot though, even if it seems strange at first, because AS is, for me anyway, one of my favourite pokemon games to date.

In my opinion, both X/Y and OR/AS are great games and you can actually fill the Pokedex easily just by trading between the two games.

I know X/Y has a shallow postgame but you do get a Kanto starter in the main story and given you said you love them it's still worth a play, but be careful when it comes to the Exp. Share because it's the number one complaint most veteran players have regarding the games, due to the fact that it causes overleveling if you leave it on too often and I know most older players like having the challenge to the game.

But in the end, you should definitely play X/Y. I did a personal pros and cons list in another thread and the pros outweighed the cons for me.

So if I get xy I can get all 3 kanto starters?
Also what is the difference between wonder trade and just regular trade?
I understand trading is a good way of getting these pokemons but what could the trader possibly demand for these Pokemons or a rare ralts (something else I am interested in).

does XY also have the whole sneaking dexnav thing that AS has? but assuming I get the XY game, how can I transfer my Pokemon from XY to AS with only one DS?

Hey, friend, we promote mainly discussion in this section, and I appreciate your attempt at creating a thread/sharing your story, etc! However, please just use the Questions thread to ask anything you're unsure of, alright?
