Old Habits, New Actions

What are some habits (and I don't mean alcohol or drug related) that you have developed over the years?

Furthermore, have you found a way to approach and maintain these habits in a different manner? (such as having a habit of chewing your fingernails and instead, chewing on the tips of your fingers)

For me personally, I honestly cannot stop myself from popping my knuckles, and it has become such a daily routine that I do it around 3 times a day. Now, as for a new way of handling it... instead of popping them with the alternate hand, I've found a way to pop them by squeezing that hand I want to pop (on its own) tightly.

I leave everything towards the last minute as far as assignments and **** goes.

It's a really bad habit, and while I'd like to say that I work better under pressure, I'd rather not be under pressure in the first place.

I have a theory that pressure increases quality of work because you are forced to work efficiently in less amount of time. Its applicable to very busy people, but I would wager that procrastination that creates pressure would not produce better work because procrastination is laziness, and if you are that lazy, you will also be lazy when actually working. If you cared enough to do the work, you would have done it.

I'm actually procrastinating my math homework as I type this lol. However, Im trying to break my own habits of procrastination. I just downloaded the app "30/30" and it has been helpful so far.

Another habit I have is cracking my fingers and knuckles. I used to do it all the time, and I have decreased a bit, but I still do it often enough for it to be a habit. But as far as I know, its not really that bad other than my dad finds it annoying lol.

I also want to create a habit of exercise, which I plan to enact after bowling districts.

Picking at my nails I can't bite them for personal reasons lol don't ask. I've always done this for as long as I can remember. It's something that can also cause major hangnails, but I also don't like just clipping them either (sensory issues).

My big thing is that I have verbal habits. I say y'know, yo and various other sounds or words very often in speech. My roommates count how many times I say it sometimes as a joke. It gets pretty bad with how much I say y'know.

Sleeping in the bathtub. Gosh, I need to get rid of that habit. I just fall asleep every time I get in. Then again, I have a really bad sleep schedule, so my body thinks that anywhere I can properly relax is a place to sleep.

I also have a habit of cracking my knuckles. Most of the time, I do it because I have absolutely nothing to do with my hands and I absolutely need something in my hands or something to do with my hands at all times, but I've also noticed that I do it as a nervous habit. I feel it's far better than trying to chew my fingernails (which I haven't done since I was like, five years old), but now I'm wary that people will notice when I'm nervous.
