Renaming Pokémon is impossible if you don't have the same TN and FC. So if you want to do that, you have to trade with whoever gave you the Pokémon and have them rename it.

I thought you could do that if you have some special program and could use codes.
 
Maybe you mean Visual Boy Advance. I don't play with that so I don't know much about it.
