Not much of a baseball fan really. But I'll probably get dragged into it.

Are you watching baseball? Watching my city's pro baseball club probably looks a little something like this:

So I've been avoiding watching them.

I might bring the hockey hype train to this thread over the next few weeks.

Yeah, I might not be able as many games per week as I would like but I've gotten into the sport faster than expected.

Ice Fight is the only big North American sport I haven't really tried yet.

On the topic of sports it is a huge night at the top of the league in my first sport.

It's really not hard to get into. If you can get past the long times between action spots, you start to see the more tactical aspects of the game. It's a game full of "unwritten" rules that are just near universally understood by the players.

Ice fight is fun, but it can be hard to keep track of the puck for newbies and even for people who've been watching for a few years myself.

That's crazy close. Is that secondary tier marking spots where the 4 teams there at the end of the season enter a play-off for the chance to get promoted to the Premier League? Or is it just for entry into some sort of national/international cup? I'm assuming that whoever finishes in the top 2 spots are guaranteed to gain promotion.

Meanwhile in my #1 sport and league:

Worst team in the NBA! Now we just have to hope the draft lottery is kind to us, which it never has been. And also, y'know, not win the final game of the season.

Yup, playoffs decide the third promoted team. Semi finals are 2 legged ties, 3rd vs 6th/4th vs 5th and then the final is played at Wembley. It could quite well end up with us playing our local rivals [Ipswich] in the playoffs.

Huge week in general, we play Leeds United away tonight and then Middlesbrough on Friday. The football thread on this site has me and also fans of Bournemouth and Middlesbrough.

Hockey is the only actual big NA sport I've had any real experience of playing, although on a field and not ice.

Honestly there aren't many sports I don't enjoy. Although considering our national teams I'm kind of glad I could never get into cricket and rugby, football already gives me enough disappointment there.

344. That's an interesting system. Seems it's likely to reward a team that got very hot later in the season rather than one that was good most of the season but is cooling down (kind of like the postseason system used in American leagues).

North American specific sports thread seem to falter with regularity here, probably because the bulk of North American members either don't care or have already got other places they discuss the sports. We've definitely got plenty of fans of various teams, though.

Of the major American ones, I've only not played ice hockey (though I have played floor hockey), as I've never actually learned to ice skate. I've only played soccer/association football and basketball as organized sports, though.

Sports are easy for me to get into, as are most competitive things. I prefer team sports to individual sports, however. And I limit myself to actively following sports with teams in my region since, well, my region's got one in each of the 4 biggest (and is on track to get an MLS team as well, having been announced as one of the cities whose bids were accepted by MLS).

eSports are hard to get into since they're not widely covered for most games.
