Utter madmen, the lot of you.

Wouldn't we be the sane ones in this case?

It's pretty common to watch things you're familiar with (linguistically or from memory) on the side. It helps lighten the atmosphere or make tedious tasks less so.

Unless you're referring to the whole quality thing. In that case, generally I go best quality I can. Can't really do 360p/480p of things that are natively >= 720p.

I find myself agreeing with Lap on this kind of thing.

I don't understand why people would do other things that require attention when watching anime. It seriously detracts from the whole experience.

If you're that busy, just watch it later, when you have time.

Sync. Sync. Sync, please.

I can only really do that when I'm rewatching dubbed things on the side or Inazuma Eleven. Otherwise, I have to really give anime my attention

I do that a lot, too. Granted it's not something that requires subtitles, of course.

It mostly applies to Western shows lol

In that case, I disagree. Anime certainly requires attention, and, heck, the same can be said for cartoons, but live-action stuff isn't the same case. Unlike anime, which is a largely visual experience, live-action television isn't so much. When I watch anime, I take in its quirks, animation, cohesion, artwork, so on and so forth. With live-action TV, though, it's not the same case because there's no need to leave a constant visual impression on the viewer. Though the backdrops do play a role, ultimately the role of the visuals in live-action, among other things, is to keep you feeling like your watching a show (aka immersion).

And it certainly differs from show to show, and what a specific person feels about a specific show, but I'd find it understandable if someone split their attention between...I dunno, their computer and DLTMS0-relevant shows like BBT (ohgod). And if someone is truly invested in an experience, they'll drop what they're doing and just watch. But focusing entirely on a show, especially one that is meant to be watched casually, really eats away at ones time. Not to mention reruns and casual background TV are a thing. But not all TV is meant to be this thing that forces you to commit to it, that's just the nature of television.

Only thing I can really take from that is that you don't watch very good TV. What shows are you watching whilst playing video games?

Me? Reruns. I should have edited it back when I said "rewatching dubs and Inazuma Eleven), but because I didn't used to watch much TV, I'd only watch things I was completely invested in. Live-action reruns I generally watch for whatever background purpose I need them for- not to say I never just sit down and enjoy them; after all, TV (anime or otherwise) is rarely a one-time thing.

Now, though, since the last show I actually liked went off the air (Parks and Recreations), I don't watch TV anymore. I can't get into Live-action Action/Sci-fi (and fantasy, possibly, but that remains to be seen) for the same reason I don't read DC/Marvel comic books or their movie adaptations and dramas are a gray area for me (though these I don't really have anything against). So I just let anime fill in those genres for me. Comedies, comedic hybrids, various cartoons, and Other shows (ie food shows, edutainment shows such as Brain Games and Mythbusters, etc.) are fun, though.

In short, none, though generally I don't watch TV while I play games, anyway. Other than reruns, mediocre movies or movies I've seen before work, as well. Though...now that it's been brought up, it's been a long while since I've watched network television.

Well, whatever works for you.

Think the furthest I'll go is posting in a place like this during a show/sporting event don't really care about. Mostly do that with airing anime, I don't watch much TV and when I do I only go for stuff I know I'll enjoy.

Yeah its one of those things that developed over time to fill in boring grind sessions. I tried doing it with subbed Anime and it's just not the same experience, so it only happens with same language stuff.

I used to only do this split entertainment with news programs, talk shows or documentaries. But then I tried it with long form live action and well it worked just as well as radio dramas of old. It's not as if I completely ignore the visuals hence the multitasking aspect.

But hey its a variation in preferences, with stuff I truly like to watch of course I'll leave time to fully watch it.

Yeah, indeed, different strokes.

Though I'd say I'm pretty much the same as you in that regard, Laptrap. Well, similar, at least. Speaking for me, personally, be it a game, anime- any type of media, really- if I enjoy it, I'll invest myself in it. If I don't enjoy it, I probably just won't keep going with it. So my attention is pretty much where my interest lies except, again, in the case of things I've already seen...but even then I often find myself turning my attention to it if I really enjoy it and reassessing, finding new things, and whatever else comes from seeing something again with a new lense.

For airing anime I'd still say I'm that way, if only because I only ever really pick up a handful of anime each season, partially for time reasons.

In other pseudo news: McCain Urges Military Strikes Against FIFA

WASHINGTON (The Borowitz Report) – Calling the Obama Administration's actions against the soccer organization "weak and ineffective," Senator John McCain on Thursday proposed military action to "dismantle and destroy FIFA once and for all."

"These are people who only understand one thing: force," McCain said on the floor of the United States Senate. "We must make FIFA taste the vengeful might and fury of the United States military."
