Aren't you just tired of those singers that release one hit song and disappear? Like Leona Lewis? What happened to her, hmm? And Alicia Keys? She's disappeared after singing her single No One. Sure, she's still active, but after that, there weren't any more hit singles sung by her. What about Colbie Callat? The one that sung the song 'Bubbly'?

There are so many one-hit wonders, and I want to know what your thoughts on them are.

Leona Lewis is definitely not a one-hit wonder. Seeing as how she recently released a single with a variety of artists that include Beyoncé, Mary J. Blige, Rihanna, Fergie, Sheryl Crow, Melissa Etheridge, Natasha Bedingfield, Miley Cyrus, Carrie Underwood, Keyshia Cole, LeAnn Rimes, Ashanti, Ciara & Mariah Carey in dedication to Cancer and her album was re-released back in April, it's hardly a one-hit wonder. It takes a while to produce a song and release it to the public. Just because she isn't exactly releasing new material, it doesn't mean she's going away into the dust. It means that the media isn't going to focus on her when they can focus on people who are in the middle of a tour, or recently released an album. It's as simple as that.

I've never been a fan of Alicia Keys, so I don't have anything to really say about her.

Colbie Caillet has an excuse to not be mentioned as much since she recently got engaged to her boyfriend.

So to answer your question, no I'm not. I get anxious when I know that they should be recording another song or album, for example - Ashley Tisdale (who's currently focusing on her own album now after completely the final installment of High School Musical). I was wondering for ages why she wasn't releasing at least a single as it's been about two years since she released her first album. But regardless, she was busy doing other things like filming and focusing on High School Musical.

The point is, in my personal opinion, there are few 'one-hit wonders' that I have in mind since the majority of them are often busy focusing on other parts of their life. They don't at all disappear unless you let information about them and what they are currently up to to disappear. It's really as simple as that.

You basicly said everything there was to asay about this thread hmmm now what?

Oh i can name a one hit wonder: The Holloways and generator, it was a great song used by Chris moyles for the radio mixer then it just deid and so did the artist

Alicia Keys? How is she a one hit wonder when she has had hits from fallin' to My boo and teenage love affair?

i love one hit wonders. hahah MC Hammer comes to mind lol.

There is a distinction between artists who are still producing decent music afterwards and artists who really just came out of no where with the song, then dropped right back off the radar.

Best one-hit wonder must be the side-project of Thomas Bangalter, the song was named The Music Sounds Better With You, but I can't remember what the name of the group is.

Oh yeah, it wás actually the thing I thought it was, Stardust.

I would say Mumm-Ra's 'She's got me high' is also a one-hit wonder

Hit singles are ones that even I've heard of. And I live in Australia. And so far, I haven't heard of Leona Lewis for a looong time. Since the start of 2008 actually. And Alicia Keys may have released another album (I think) but it hasn't really been much of a hit.

So when I say one-hit wonders, I mean the people that release a massive hit single that's even released here in Australia (unless the singer's Aussie).

I think Vanessa Carlton is a one hit wonder. I'm not sure how well "Ordinary Day" did on the charts, however I know "White Houses" didn't do very well. "A Thousand Miles" was her only big hit iirc. Although I like alot of Vanessa Carlton's music. Infact, I like alot of One Hit Wonders.

Queens of the Stone Age, Kaiser Chiefs and Editors are in mainstream-land also considered as one-hit wonders I guess, here in The Netherlands (don't know how they do in the UK/US)

    @ Hurricano
Kaiser Chiefs aren't a one-hit wonder in the UK, they're pretty big over here and have had at least 4 hits that I can think of.

Stardust is my favourite one-hit wonder aswell.

    You've been mistaken.

Alicia Keys: Has been in the industry for about 7 years. Writes her own songs. Album released Nov 07.
Her CD has amazing singles on there ( Superwoman, No One, Like You'll Never See Me Again, Teenage Love Affair).
Not to mention her other albums The Diary of Alicia Keys, Songs in a Minor.

Hope you know the people you listed are singer/song writers I mean songs don't fall out the sky for great artist as themselves.

I really don't think there are any one hit wonders, just artist that can't get any more of their songs as popular.

Hm, I didn't know QotSA even had a hit here, which one was it?

A perfect example of a "one hit wonder?" The band Trapt. They had that one song "Headstrong," then...no one ever heard of them again after that ._.

Well Australia is not important in the decision of if Alicia Keys is a OHW. She has released several albums and any fan of R&B can tell you the track list of each of them.

Trapt actually really aren't one hit wonders. They're still going fairly strong today and have a new song that's on every radio station ("Who's going home with you tonight").

A true blue one hit wonder would be an artist like the Baha Men with "Who Let the Dogs Out" or Deep Blue Something with "Breakfast at Tiffanys".

Ha! good examples. Also a perfect example is Tyga with Coconut Juice. Billy Ray Cyrus wit Achy Breaky Heart and Los Del Rio with "Macerena"
