I don't know if this has been done or if it's the right section, if not move it please =3

I've noticed as the years got on that evolutions stopped being evolutions and became more of metamorphisis'. For example, Charmander evolves into
Charmeleon which goes into Charizard. By looking at Charizard you can tell that it is related to Charmander. Same for Cyndaquil and Typhlosion. But as the generations went on the evolutions started looking more wild. Not just mild changes, but BIG ones. An example of that is Nosepass into Probopass or Snorunt into Glalie. They stop looking like their pervious forms entirely. This is even more apparent in GenV. (Oshwott ends up as Samurot...o.O)

    Thoughts?

Well, if you want the logical answer, over time the world changes, so animals have to adapt, even drastically. I'm guessing evolution moves faster within the world of Pokemon, since sometimes years pass-by and YAY EVOLUTION, but the ones you mentioned have logical reasons why they went through changes.

Nosepass evolved into Probopass because the magnetism in it's nose was intensified so much that it had to evolve otherwise it would be stuck to Mt. Coronet forever, so it needed a bigger body and nose.

Snorunt evolves into Glalie because after a while I'm guessing it's abilities get stronger, plus I believe Snorunt is a demon-like Pokemon so it would have to evolve when it's power gets to a certain stage.

Oshawott evolves to match it's fighting capabilities, so it would naturally need a larger body to swim with, and take hits with. Plus it's passed off of a Samurai, so..

But yeah, Pokemon evolve mainly because they have to, some make sense and others...well...don't, but they all have a reason for doing so. I can elaborate on more if you wish, but you get the gist of it.

Call me crazy but i think nosepass and probopass are very similar.... same with oshawott and dewott

I agree with you, and I hate it. It's waaay more like digimon or yu-gi-oh... it's not even that cool anymore. -w- so they're supposed to be badass, but ... really? nevermind... I just like the "look" of the newer ones...

Despite how much I love them, I could never understand how Meditite evolves into Medicham. Their appearances are just so different, you'd think they were completely different Pokemon. O_o Besides their typing, the two don't share any other similarity. But honestly, if every Pokemon just became slightly larger during evolution instead of changing dramatically, then Pokemon wouldn't be as interesting to me. I think that's what gives Pokemon its charm. :>

One reason I hate the "Phlosion evo line" is because they all look exactly the same albeit one is larger than the other etc. They're boring.

I much prefer evolutions which look epic and different from their predecessor, it makes you want to evolve your Pokemon more and makes the whole thing more exciting.

I have something for Karrablast and Shelmet. They evolve when they're put near an electric stimulus, as some of you may know. The energy stimulates the Pokemon's cells to evolve. During that time, Shelmet loses its shell and becomes Accelgor. Then Karrablast uses the discarded shell to become Escavalier.

There are also times when evolution doesn't benefit the Pokemon. For example, when Scyther evolves into Scizor (when it needs more power for some reason), it gains power and durability at the cost of speed.

Drastic evolutions can look a bit silly, but evolutions that don't offer enough change can be boring.
    For example:

While I like the Tangela/Tangrowth line, the only aesthetic change is...more vines.

Most Pokemon evolutions make sense to me, even ones that left me a bit baffled at first. There are exceptions, of course, but I do think GF tends to do a very good job in creating evolutions.

I don't really care wherever the evolution is different or not. The only thing that bugs about this is that a Dragonair evolves into the wayyyyy different Dragonite. That's the only evolution I think is stupid. So get over with it.

i don't get the Magikarp Gyrados evolution like magikarp can only know tackle and splash but gyrados on the other hand he is a pokemon in the elite 4 in FR/LG I think...

Im fine with that evolution, since it was Magikarps gimmick/purpose to be weak while Gyrados strong.

They were meant to be as far different in their stages as could be...
