Eh, recent teen here just startin' highschool, so luckily no one knows about my addiction >.>
I keep it a complete secret, 'cept for my two close friends who also play it. I mean, if people knew, I'm sure my life would be over. Still, I think I might start being a bit more public about it with, like, my blue version or something so they might think "oh, he didn't go out and buy any of the new games, he just still has that old one from when he was a kid" or something.
...Of course, in reality I went out and bought soul silver first chance I got >.>

They way people are talking about it... It's like talking about a hidden sexuality. o_o

But I know the feeling, and it used to bother me that I was a teen that played Pokemon, but not anymore. Whenever I get the "Aren't you a bit old for that, now?" I just bluntly reply "No." xD Sadly, being older means I have less time for playing Pokemon . ):

Don't see that this discussion applies necessarily to HGSS alone so going to move to Pokemon general as it's not that much about the gaming itself either.

Lol, I agree with you, I just posted it in the HGSS thread because now these pokewalkers make it even harder to hide the secret passion I have for pokemon! My inner geek loves the pokeball color of the pokewalker, but I secretly think of spray painting it black or something... I can pass it off as a texter or pager or something... ... lol

I'm an oldie who actually REMEMBERS going to my cousin's house to play the latest Pokemon Blue. At the time the graphics were considered revolutionary and ground-breaking and training my Squirtle Waterema (that's my nickname) took forever because there was no Internet guides back then....! I had to speed up walking by pressing spacebar. No VBA game emulator.

Pokegods, Pikablu and Mew rumours were abundant and the mysterious Truck with HM Strength. Missingno and LM4 gameshark codes were common back then. Aaah, for innocent times...

If you have shame for playing Pokemon, then you should feel even worse about playing an Xbox 360 or a PS3. Even more kids play those consoles then Pokemon.

Its a game, you are not nearly important enough for people to make a deal out of it. Get over it.

I'm a 14 year old, and I don't feel shame.

As surprising as this sounds, I am an original Pokemon Master. I started with Red, but I bought it at a flea market about a month before Gold and Silver came out, so I am an original Pokemon Master.

So I remember (somehow) the wires of Red and Blue. :P

lol....... pikablu.... Remember the first pictures of Marill? xD

I remember when I went to Pokemon Rocks America, and some of the fans there were in their 40's, and still hardcore Pokefans. So as it's been said before, there is no age limit. Our oldest member here is in her 70's, and she's into Pokemon even though her grandkids have grown out of it. xD

"In my days we walked 3 miles to the gym! Darn youngsters with their running shoes..." got my vote.

I remember my reaction to Heart Gold, on the fact that to use the Running Shoes all you had to do was hit the button once, and I went " O___O ohmygod.. I don't have to hold it down!". :/ That, in comparison to playing Yellow last night, and realizing that all we started out with was a bicycle. A slow bicycle.

I just recently saw a comic that pretty much described exactly what my Poke-timeline has been like, but the name/source of the comic escapes me right now :(
The important thing is that in middle school it was the very "in" thing, high school it suddenly became taboo, and now that I'm in college it's the "in" thing again. I actually spent part of my class today talking to a friend of mine about EV training :D It can be a tiny bit embarassing but then I remember that I don't really care.

There are quite a few 14 year-olds here, I'm one of them. I hide Pokemon to the best of my ability. I make sure that Pokemon never affects my school-life. I remember bringing a Nintendo Power to school with SSBB coverage. Some people actually laughed at me because the game was for Wii, and that it had Pikachu in it.

Pokemon is not accepted by most high-schoolers because:

  • Anime is "gay"
  • Nintendo DS is "gay"
  • Wii is "gay"
  • Anything without an M rating is "gay"

I'm 17, and love Pokemon! I have since I was eight years old. I'm heading to college in the fall and I plan to take my DS everwhere. When I finally get SS, my Pokewalker will be going with me. I'll be like "I'm walking across campus and back , be back later!!" lol.

I wear a freaking Pikachu t-shirt every chance I get. I have no shame. My love for Pokemon will never be hidden from the world!

Lol.. Does it make me a loser that I turned that off and still hold B? xD But yeah, I went to replay a game a few months back and couldn't just because of the no running shoes xD

To be fair I actually don't LOVE the new "pokegear". I preferred being able to do things like seeing my steps, the time and so on.

And come on, fess up, show of hands to those that STILL press down + B when trying to catch a pokemon xD

Don't Be Ashamed.
I know some people who Should be Ashamed, But not even they are, And they hardly go to school to play the game.

My friend failed 2 Grades, because he was busy putting hours in on his Sapphire alone!
TICK TICK TICK TICK TICK TICK TICK WHAT THE FU---- BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH WOHAHHHAHAHA UHHAHAHAHAHA

...Pointless thing aside.
The Pokewalker sucked. I train my Pokemon in-game.
Anyway, it's just somewhere.. perhaps in the SS box. It's going to be there for quite a time now.

I'm 20 right now, playing since blue version got out. I went trough the "You still play Pokemon!?" harrasement, but it was very mild. Right now I have several friends who play with me and those who don't are pretty neutral about it. Yeah, a couple of guys from college have actually made fun of me for still playing, but just to give me a hard time as I usually make fun of them whenever I can.

This picture explains the pokemaniac school life:

I'm playing Soul Silver in my Ds right now! Dohohoho!

After my DS broke, I stayed away and now bought this for old times sake. I'm loving it. It brings back sooo many memories, long drives while trying to figure out all the puzzles in the backseat of my parents car! :)

I used to play it on my super nintendo, with a gameboy adapter... yeah I know... laugh at me if you must xD...

But now, in my twenties, it feels so embarassing to be playing the same game my 9 year old nephew is... ... ...

Which brings me to the pokewalker. My inside geek squeals with delight about it, but my outer adult is so embarassed someone will see the pokeball shaped device!

How do I explain to a date on a club that the reason I'm dancing a lot more than usual is because I want to gain more watts on my pokewalker? xD

So how about you guys?

This is crazy to read. I remember having to buy the cables to link up my Gameboy with my friend's so we could trade our pokemon to evolve them and such. It's crazy to think that was 10 years ago. I'm really amazed with how far this has come, with WiFi being taken advantage of so you can trade and battle with people all over the world.

I left the Pokemon fandom early on, around the time G/S/C came out. I got back into it just a few months ago when I downloaded the Diamond version. I was seriously blown away with how different the games are today, I got my copy of SS the day it came out. I think the games are more fun today than they were 10 years ago.

I'm not too embarrassed, though. I wear my Pokewalker to work. If anyone gives me crap for it, I just crack jokes. It's fun to go over to my friend's house though. Her and her boyfriend are still into it, despite being 20-21.

I think it's kind of weird to come onto this forum and see 12 year olds posting about Pokemon. That's when I feel a little stupid for playing the games, lol.

I'm 15 now & I don't really have a problem with it. Some of my friends at school play it & they carry their PokeWalkers around with them. Heck, one of my friends even had me run with her when we were doing instant activity (which is where we can do whatever we like except sit around) in PE to help her train her Pokemon on her PokeWalker. Of course that didn't last long since I'm lazy and all. :3

I'm not really ashamed to admit I like Pokemon. If someone were to ask me, I'd say yes and not even care. My best friend and I will still talk about it from time to time.

i'll be 16 next week and still playing pkmn! Well at times I get bored, like in the last two weeks, but I still love it regardless. I don't care how old I am, I'll keep playing pokemon..though I may resort to home deliveries in the future instead of going to buy it out in public lol.

I wore my Pokewalker to school last week, but it was hidden under my shirt so no one could see it...I know that I'm not the only kid there who likes Pokemon-heck I've met a kid who plays it on his DS at school-and the kids are pretty nice at my school, but I'm bad at talking to people! How am I gonna explain that this pokeball thingy counts up steps and every 20 steps you get a Watt and...??

Meh, I think tommorow I'll just tell people it's a fancy pedometer. 'Cause it is, right? xD
