Latios/Latias Application
So I apologize if this gets rambly/reptitive/otherwise boring. I got a little carried away. Heh. =P
[Name:] Kira Miriani
[Gender:] Female
[Age:] 17
[Occupation:] Plain old trainer.
[Personality:]
Kira does consider herself fairly intelligent, though not in the way people immediately think. She knows her basic math, can read and write, but where she really excels is thinking quick on her feet. She goes with her gut and jumps right into something, and normally it turns out pretty well. Though sometimes she can face repercussions, she finds that doing something stupid is almost always better than doing nothing. Being able to think of something at the turn of a dime, she finds, is one of the most valuable skills to possess in a battle. Though a lot of noise isn't particularly Kira's favorite thing, it doesn't mean she can't be loud herself. Despite the fact she doesn't actually talk much, ignoring her when she does open her mouth is a surefire way to get to her. And when she does decide to speak, it's normally something cynical. Sometimes it comes off as critical, sometimes it doesn't. But Kira's made a few enemies and rivals in this fashion; apparently she offends people. However, she just says what she thinks. She isn't a guarded person. Rather than some, who prefer to distance themselves from their emotions, Kira embraces them. Why be a hollow shell of a being when you can enjoy life? She loves to laugh—anyone with a sense of humor is a good person in her books. Though she does enjoy her dry sense of humor, any good joke that doesn't involve pain is funny to her.
Kira's what you would call a cheerful person. Always walking with a skip in her step, humming a tune under her breath and smiling at anyone she passes. Insults tend to go over her head, or in one ear and out the other. Nothing really fazes her, and the only sign that tells a person she even heard you is an arch of her brows and a smirk that borders on demeaning. She's most content outside, when it's raining, or when she's just with her Pokemon. Perhaps the reason for her affinity with Pokemon is her instincts. Kira's always been more in tune with her instincts than most people she knows. She relies on her gut more than anything, because it almost never fails her. It goes in tandem with her ability of thinking on the fly. Add that to what some people call a 'woman's intuition,' and Kira has a knack for just getting things. But despite her reliance on her instincts, she does stop and think when the situation allows or calls for it. And she's a good thinker. Observant, analytical, and somewhat critical, she sees things with a critical and objective eye (for the most part). Even so, her gut normally comes first.
And in her many years of observing, Kira has learned one very important thing: forgive, but do not forget. Second chances are good and all, but you have to earn Kira's trust back. And after going back on it once, it's hard to get back. Kira likes being a trusting person. There's so much less to worry about when you aren't paranoid about everyone around you stabbing in the back. So when someone turns on her, it hurts. And with the memory of an elephant, she never forgets it. Kira can hold a good grudge for a very long time and no one will know. Why worry them about it? Along with being extremely competitive (though not a sore loser), Kira can be overconfident. She's often one of the first to admit it, even. Sometimes she believes that coupled with her instincts, her Pokemon make her invincible. This is the farthest thing from the truth, as she can still be deceived. She can be jumped, and she can't put up much a fight if she can't reach her Poke Balls. Though, this is probably why she normally has one Pokemon out of his or her ball. On that note, her Pokemon are perhaps her closest friends. With each of them making up a whole, it seems that after eight years of traveling together, one cannot seem to function without another. One keeps another humble, another boosts confidence. And one is just the mother hen of the bunch. Kira loves each and every one of them, and can't imagine her team without even just one. She can trust them implicitly and know they'll never willingly betray her, and it's the most liberating feeling in the world.
[Description/Appearance:] To say Kira is slender would be pretty accurate. She lacks curves in most places where a nearly-grown woman should have curves. Her hips are perhaps the only place on her body that appears to be filled out. Her cheeks, though, are quite full. Her face is probably the only thing about her that sticks out. Striking green eyes framed by naturally long lashes stare out at the world, always dancing with a spark of mischief and general contentment. Her forehead is separated from the rest of her face with thick, dark brows that arch a lot. Her forehead is marked only with subtle furrow lines that appear as furrows themselves when Kira raises her brows (which is a lot). She doesn't have a perfect button nose, but it isn't to large. Her lips are full, with a corner almost always lifted in a half-grin at any given time. Returning to her somewhat unremarkable figure, Kira does have a nice height to her name. At 5'7, she normally finds herself taller than other girls. Her shoulders are typical, sloping down to arms and slightly-larger-than-average hands. But she doesn't mind her hands too much—makes holding a Poke Ball that much easier. She has both long legs and a long torso, which both contribute to her height. Her feet seem to correspond with her hands, reaching a size slightly above average than typical of girls her height. Her legs are covered in numerous scars from general cuts and scrapes, but she doesn't mind too much; the stories behind them are great to tell.
Clothing is never something that concerns Kira too much. She can normally be found wearing a pair of heavily bleached jeans and a t-shirt of some sort (she has four on hand at the moment). She keeps a pair of black shorts in her bag for warmer weather or training, as she often runs with her Pokemon. Her sneakers are a simple white, though their color has since faded (think Converse here). Her one-shoulder bag's strap goes across her chest and buckles just above her hip. It's a plain black except for the paint she splattered on it herself. She felt it added a special touch. Her long, chocolate brown hair is normally kept down, though she will braid it on occasion.
[History/Biography:] Battling has been a part of Kira's life since the beginning; her older sister was one of Erika's proteges in Celadon City, so she was always visiting and watching the battles. So, when she was hardly ten years old, she set off on the journey her parents had prepared her older sister for, her newly-bought Dratini and all. She went out to catch a Vulpix just outside the city first - it ended up taking her a week, but she never once went back home until she finally caught Sammy. It was another week before Kira decided that she was ready to take on Erika. The battle was long and hard, and Kira did end up losing the first time. But she went and trained for another week, and returned to win her first badge. As a parting gift, her sister passed on a Turtwig Erika had received from the Gym Leader in Gardenia. So, with Serie, Sammy, and Frufru, Kira continued on her journey. She went to Saffron next, making her way through first the Fighting Dojo and then challenging Sabrina. This time, after a particularly intense battle, Kira emerged with her second badge. Frufie had even evolved into a Grotle to show for it. She went on to Cerulean next, and there Serie evolved into a Dragonair in a sound defeat of Misty. She took the underground tunnel through to Vermillion, where Lt. Surge gave her her first loss in some time, and a humiliating one at that. She had been swept by just his Raichu.
A little thrown back, Kira had been a little down about the loss for some time. But she just trained harder, and it seemed there were plenty of trainers to face. After building something of a reputation in Vermillion, she went back to Lt. Surge. This time, she was smarter and finally pulled out a defeat. Fuschia City came next, and somehow Koga fell much easier than Lt. Surge had. After Serie successfully learned Surf, she set off for Cinnabar. But a storm blew through, and she had to wait in an island cave. Despite being near the tropical Cinnabar, Kira found the cave chilly. In the middle of the night, she woke to birdsong coming from deep within the cave. After reaching Cinnabar and telling someone about her experience, she learned a legendary bird sometimes took up residence in the cave on the Seafoam Islands. To this day, Kira still believes it was Articuno singing that night. After a long, hard battle, only Frufie's evolution into Torterra and learning Earthquake won Kira the battle. And so she went north to Pallet Town, spending a short time there relaxing before moving on to Viridian. The Gym Leader there, Blue, was easily her toughest challenge. It was a long, long, battle; he had such a knack for battling, a natural talent. After a tie, Blue gave her the badge with the remark: "You've got something special, Kira; I don't see it often anymore."
She still doesn't entirely know what that 'something' is. Going through Viridian Forest, she found a Pikachu stirring up an entire swarm of Beedrill. After rescuing him, he asked for a battle. With Sammy, she did just that. After defeating him, she caught him and named him Ray. After training with him some in the forest, she finally made her way to Pewter City to challenge Brock for her eighth badge. It looked like Kira was going to lose when Serie evolved into a Dragonite during her battle with Brock's Golem. And that ended that; Kira received her eighth badge. The Pokemon League was still months away at that time, so she decided to travel Kanto again as a form of training. This involved stopping at Lavender Town and the Pokemon Tower, which she had completely skipped on her first journey. There, she caught a Haunter, naming it Ichabod. On her way back home to Celadon, Kira went through Cerulean. It was at the nearby daycare Kira obtained an egg containing an Eevee, which hatched as she approached Celadon in time for some training.
With Erika and her older sister, the months leading up to the Pokemon League were packed with intensive training schedules. Erika took it upon herself to buy three Evolution stones for Ace, but he denied each and every one of them. Kira had just laughed about it, using the bought Thunderstone for Ray so Erika's purchases weren't a total waste of money. And then the Pokemon League had arrived. Kira flew out to the Indigo Plateau just a day before the tournament began, registered, and retired for the night. Kira didn't win, which she found understandable - she was only 13, after all. But after making it to the top 32, she had attained a small celebrity status back in Celadon. She returned there for a year, doing some mild training and just relaxing. She made the decision to leave for Johto the day of her 14th birthday, and that was that. The next two years went by much the same way her Kanto journey had; she beat Gyms, traded a Scyther for her Absol, Eros, and two years later she returned to Indigo Plateau. This time she made it to the semifinals before finally falling. At sixteen, she was ready for a massive change of pace. With Eros, she had gotten a taste of the power Hoenn Pokemon had. So she went there first, wondering if that would perk up her indifferent Absol. It didn't, but she did learn plenty. On the eve of her seventeenth birthday, she was halfway through her Hoenn journey when the voices in her dreams began. She could never remember the dreams at all, but she had this nagging feeling something important was about to happen. A week after, she fell asleep, not knowing she would wake up in an entirely new region.
[Other:] Kira has the following Pokemon in her PC: Growlithe, Ichabod the Haunter, and Aria the Pidgey. I'm really just putting this as a side note, I don't intend to have Kira actually use them at any point. =3
--
[*Nickname:] Serie
[Species:] Dragonite
[Gender:] Female
[*Age:] Eight years old
[Personality:] Serie, being with Kira from the very beginning, has taken after her master. She relies on her gut, is very proud, and generally sees the world in optimism. The only difference, perhaps, is that Serie is easily angered. However, a stern look or joke from Kira is normally all it takes to get her to calm down.
[*History:] Living in Celadon always had its advantages. When Kira was young, she always wanted the Dratini in the Game Corner's display window. The poor thing looked so sad and bored. When she was ten, she managed to convince her parents to buy enough coins to get the Dratini. It helped her father was good at poker. So the Dratini was bought and given to little Kira, and after a month or two of getting to know the Pokemon and train a little, they set off. And eight years later, they're still together.
[*Other:] She serves as Kira's main form of transportation.
[*Nickname:] Sammy
[Species:] Ninetales
[Gender:] Female
[*Age:] Probably around six or seven.
[Personality:] Sammy sees herself as a queen, it seems. She comes first, no matter what. Her head is always head high, nose in the air. Touching her tails is equivalent to a death sentence (unless you're Kira with a brush). Despite that, though, she has a flair for battling, so long as she can get past her aversion to getting a dirty coat.
[*History:] Kira really just found the Vulpix about halfway through her journey. Sammy had a few arrogance issues at the beginning, and had to overcome a few more spoiled tendencies. It actually took her two years before Kira let her touch a Fire Stone to evolve - she had to prove she had earned it.
[*Nickname:] Frufru (Or Frufie)
[Species:] Torterra
[Gender:] Female
[*Age:] Seven years old
[*Physical Quirks:] Her tree is kind of raggedy-looking, but not in a sad, droopy way.
[Personality:] Frufru does not begin to describe this lively Torterra. From the beginning, she always had a spirit. Proud, opinionated, and just as competitive as Kira, she's a tough battler. Apparently, from those trainers who pick up on these things, Frufie has a swearing problem when she battles. She can be a bit of a trash talker, yes, but she does cheer her teammates on. Though if she feels another Pokemon is getting more attention, she will get jealous and somewhat despondent.
[*History:] Frufru was given to Kira as a gift from her older sister after she beat Erika in Celadon (the Turtwig had been sent from Gardenia in Eterna). The Turtwig's leaf was frayed even then, and when Kira saw the little Pokemon, she thought: Frufru. So the name stuck, with Frufie coming on later. She's been getting tough, growing, and generally becoming one of Kira's stronger Pokemon.
[*Nickname:] Ray
[Species:] Raichu
[Gender:] Male
[*Age:] Unknown - probably around six or so.
[Personality:] Ray's the mischief-maker of the bunch. Always getting his nose into things he shouldn't, it's an effort to keep him contained. He's broken his own Poke Ball twice now, once on accident and later on purpose. These days Kira just leaves him out and leaves his Poke Ball out of sight, in case he breaks it again. But he's an intent battler, all the same.
[*History:] Kira just picked him up in Viridian Forest after a short battle - he's stuck around ever since.
[*Nickname:] Ace
[Species:] Espeon
[Gender:] Male
[*Age:] Five years old.
[Personality:] Ace is the type of Pokemon that just loves life. Growing up with Kira, he's taken on just about every aspect of her personality, along with his teammates: he received a nonchalant tendency to curse from Frufie, a calmness from Serie, Ray's mischief, and Sammy's poise. Nothing bothers him, and he just loves to laugh and have a good time.
[*History:] Ace was a less-than-traditional catch. Kira was going through Cerulean when she noticed the Daycare was offering a Pokemon egg for a week's hard work. Tempted, Kira went and got the job. A week later, she received an egg from the old couple and was on her way again. And with all of the activity going on, it didn't take long for Ace the Eevee to come into the world. He bonded with everyone on the team quickly, and it was one fateful day in Johto that he finally evolved and came into his own.
[*Nickname:] Eros
[Species:] Absol
[Gender:] Male
[*Age:] Nine years old.
[Personality:] Eros is very solemn. It surprised Kira, because she was told this Absol was very energetic and active. She supposes he's upset that his former owner would trade him so readily. But he's completely obedient - he never hesitates to carry out one of Kira's commands, and has his own calculating, thoughtful way of seeing things. The only one he's seemed to warm up to, though, is Serie, perhaps because they're so close in age.
[*History:] Eros was not Kira's originally. She had been approached by a young man in Johto after she had caught a Scyther and was getting acquainted with it. The Scyther was actually a surly type, but the other trainer didn't seem to mind. He offered a Pokemon Kira had never encountered, but the young man assured her he was a great and powerful Pokemon and would follow her every command to the letter. Indeed, he called Eros out and he seemed perfectly friendly, if not downright loving. And since the Scyther hadn't been working out, Kira greed to the trade. The amiable Absol she first met hasn't been seen since.

[Nicknames:] Eos for Latios and Eas for Latias (they're mainly just pet names they call each other).
[Species:] Latios & Latias
[Gender:] Latios is male and Latias is female.
[Personality:] Latios can really be described in one word: solemn. He doesn't say much. But he's very analytical, very observant. He can cross-examine someone and have them down to a T in a matter of days. Though his senses are better attuned than Kira, they share this particular trait in common. They also have a dry sense of humor in common, though Latios' has just a bit more sting to it. He's very proud, and very protective of those he cares about (Latias, fellow legendaries, etc.). Nothing fazes him, or if it does he doesn't let on. He takes it all in stride, though sometimes he can become inflexible, especially if he's told he's just wrong. Being wrong is bad.
Latias, on the other hand, is very bubbly. She enjoys chatting, and isn't a big fan of silence. She's not naïve, but neither is she all too aware. Latios tries to shelter her somewhat, but her own curiosity makes that difficult. If she hears, sees, smells, or just senses something interesting, she's off to investigate before Latios can realize she's zipped away. She's the younger sibling in the duo, but she does have one thing over Latios: she's willing to go with her gut, though she does lack the ability to even think about other options. She likes her freedom, and doesn't appreciate being restrained or otherwise subdued. Though, if unchecked, she can go on talking until her words are just nonsensical babbling to the poor soul stuck listening.
["Reasoning":] Latios felt that Kira had a level head on her shoulders. Plenty of sense, plenty of power, if perhaps a little over-confident. Plus, he realizes she has a clear head, and with the addition of two voices to her own, it's going to be one cramped cranium. Latias really just liked Kira's 'come-what-may' outlook. It amuses her, and Kira is plenty nice enough. The two of them were just whizzing through Hoenn when they found her in the middle of a practice battle, and they both just decided she would be the one to help them.
[Other:] Two new voices in one head… this'll be fun. >D
So I apologize if this gets rambly/reptitive/otherwise boring. I got a little carried away. Heh. =P

GUARDIAN
