Yes, that is a good idea, but there is a major flaw.

People hate pop-ups, so they will most likely have a pop-up blocker on their computer.
 
I know my browser blocks them. As does Haruka's for instance, she uses Firebird and it has a built in blocker. Besides, ads usually annoy people not make them want to visit...
 
Yea thats the good thing about Mozilla Firebird (thats what I use) it has a pop up blocker.

No one likes pop ups, thats why pop ups is not to good.
 
I ment those Marcomedia Flash ads that pop out on the webpage.
