Suggestion: PC Marketplace

Maybe we could have a sub-forum for buying, selling, and trading goods? For example, if someone was looking for a good deal on a used copy of Pokemon Yellow, a PC member could sell it to them.

PC would be held legally responsible if people get ripped off, or if anything illegal does get sold / traded, so I don't see it working. :(

I don't see this working at all. Agreeing with Nica and Derk here, but also because then this place would get covered in people trying to sell crap, and that's not what we want here.

Things like this are just REALLY messy, even if we post a disclaimer.

It's just easier to forbid buying/selling altogether on the community, than to deal with the possible headaches that could occur from allowing it. Always has been. Besides, it's not hard to get on Craigslist or eBay.

Awww. I read the title and assumed this would be kind of like LJ. You know, where you can buy specific things for your accounts? Extra PM space, a larger avatar, even a username change, maybe? Could help with server costs and whatnot... I know a lot of people would be willing to buy a username change! Even though I'm pretty sure the the admins already discussed this possibility and decided against it, but still! n___n

But yeah, I'm inclined to agree with the people who feel negatively about this suggestion. :(

That's actually a pretty good idea. :O But I think that's the point of the supporters' perks. It's pretty much the same thing. If someone wants extra features, they should just donate. :3

I also agree with what everyone is saying about the market place thing. If people want to sell or buy things through the forum, they can do it over PM and make the final exchange somewhere else. It's already annoying when people are haggling for trades on the javachat, and it's not really desirable to have something else to haggle over. :[ I like the idea of paying for extra features, though. :O

I would agree with this, though I don't know if New Users/Fresh Meat would be willing to donate to PokeCommunity so quickly when they are just becoming accustomed to it. :\ And then there's the potential problematic server errors that could arise...

This, too, but it's like a lot of the common "favorite" ones have been taken. There's pink, brown, black, and white left, pretty much, IIRC. XD Though this could be rectified if distinguishable tints and shades of the common colors were used...

I like the idea that we could sell name changes for $x a pop and do them during PCs offpeak times. It might make us enough money to update the server and then charge more/ less for these perks dependent on if we need a server upgrade. :p
