    We Need You!

    Well supporters of PC.
The time has come to do your best to put back the fun times into PC.

Do you feel that there aren't enough events happening on PC? Feel like it is just a normal forum? Well this is where we change that.

Nica and I decided to create this topic to get you guys thinking and brainstorming different types of events, or get-togethers going.

All might not be approved, but contributing might spark another idea, so every little helps, as they say.

Even if they are just for one board, or forum wide, we want to hear =D

    Go go! =D

Fixed some typos. The OP needs to be "pro-fesh-inel."

As for ideas, I'm not terribly sure. I still think a Xmas Carol Contest would be pretty funny. Either make it a karaoke competition or a parody competition.

    Oh yah.

Sorry, haha, I was in University so I was typing quickly as I was doing work along side it. Thanks =]

I would like to see a Christmas event going on. Since we do Halloween, I don't see why we can't do a Christmas get-together, since it could be argued that it is a bigger holiday.

I think we could pull off a Christmas get together. :) It's certainly bigger than Halloween. We could even do similar events, but obviously tweak them to fit in with the Christmas theme.

A Christmas get-together would beat Halloween so much. I'd actually prefer that over the Halloween. It makes a hell of a lot more sense, that's for sure.

Thinking about the different events that we could do will work a lot better I think.

    Carol contest
    Christmas photography

    So on so on.
Would be very exciting I think.

How about we brainstorm some events?

Having the Halloween events so close to the Get-Together personally makes me disinterested in it. Can't say I consider them to at all be interesting since they're so close together. I'd prefer two events a year - one in the Winter and one in the Summer. And what better time for both of them than Christmas (since most of the members here go to schools that give students breaks during the holiday season) and summer, when members are out of school? Having it on Halloween seemed awkward to me, because I know a lot of people would much rather be out and about than be contributing to forum events. On top of that, there's so much more you can do with Christmas than Halloween - especially since New Years is only a few days after, and it would make sense to have it more than one day, unlike Halloween.

Randomly saw this so randomly going to say I have to agree that another get-together so soon after the halloween one would seem a bit much - have a get-together too often and it just starts to lose its charm (too much of a good thing and all that jazz). Plus as Halloween isn't very big in many countries (and some of us have exams around then...) compared to Christmas which is already the holiday season for most, it makes more sense as Patchisou Yutohru said to have one in the winter and one in the summer.

Doesn't mean one can't have forum-specific competitions in-between though, eh?

I know I'd personally prefer forums to have competitions and things going on all year round to make them interesting and promote the individual section, but that's just me. Other Games seems to do that on it's own, and I think it'd be nice to see other forums actively do the same.

I'm going to agree with Nick and bobandbill. Two Get-Together's a year seems reasonable. The summer get-together proves to show much popularity (more than the Halloween event did this year), and I agree it is rather close to the get-together that happened not too long ago over summer break. With most users having at least two weeks or more off for the Holidays and New Years, I think it'd be smarter to hold a Holiday Get-Together than one for Halloween.

That said, I'm all for a Christmas and New Years two-in-one Get Together. I think I would enjoy that a lot more seeing as I didn't actually have full attention in our last get-together for Halloween. :\

As for other events, I like the idea of individual forums holding their own competitions / events. It's a great way to promote the different sections. Video Games has their game night, Other Trivia has PPC, currently Pokémon Anime has "Run, Suicune Run!" and they all prove to do fairly well. So, for more events in the different sections is something I'd like to see more of.

B/W has the weekly polls, as well as stealing your scavenger hunt now. :x

Right on that. For example, Hiiro set up that "RUN SUICUNE RUN!" thing for us at PA. It... was crazy in a good way XP.

I sorta lean on supporting other forums to do their own mini events. OC used to have MotM, but of course that was dropped. OT and PT already have enough fun so leave them in the dust ^_^

Such of these things would unite people that are closer in their interests. What they would do.... I dunno, I'm yet to look at something that's not PA, OC, OVP, or TechMed >__>

We should leave any sort of Christmas get-together until next year, it's gonna be too much if we do so now.

It'd be nice if each forum also had an event that they through into the get-together(s) whenever they may be. An official event hosted by the moderator(s) of the specific forum meant to promote the forum for those who don't frequent it. In most cases, the only people who take part in forum specific contests actively are regulars and those deeply interested in it. Most members don't know about it even happening.

If there were official specific forum contests hosted in the get-together, that'd be a wonderful way to promote their individual forum for more activity, and something I would like to see happen. I know I have no idea what's going on in emulation. If there's a contest going on that would spark my interest in emulation and rom hacking that's posted in a place everyone would go to, that'd be very, very nice.

Nick for your point, I recall that RH did actually have weekly contests or something along those lines, just a little after this year's main get together. And I know they were meant to make a halloween hack at the haunt but that never worked out.

Oh and B/W has more stuff in store for events!

...well I was just stating that they did intend to do an event for the get together sooo. :x

Either way, I'd prefer a Halloween get together rather than Christmas, because the former would get more activity imo.

I find that to be an excellent idea. The only thing is, is that we'd have to figure out something to do, for the event, that would spark that sort of interest in people.

Christmas is about getting together and receiving things so I think it would fit for a get together a bit more than Halloween. Not only this, people are on holiday break during this time so more activity would raise from the cause. Not to mention Christmas and New Years can give a lot more discussion than Halloween.

There's a whole week between Christmas and New Years. If you really are concerned with people contributing on Christmas, a get together could start a few days before Christmas, have something special on Christmas Day (or even Christmas Eve), and last up until New Years with a nice blow out. Gonna voice Kaori and say "Christmas is about getting together and receiving things so I think it would fit for a get together a bit more than Halloween. Not only this, people are on holiday break during this time so more activity would raise from the cause. Not to mention Christmas and New Years can give a lot more discussion than Halloween." I don't think activity will be much of a concern given the amount of time that'd be there. At least try it out this Christmas before speculation and assumptions discredit it. Christmas is a lot more meaningful than Halloween and we do more for Halloween than we do for Christmas, and that's just very... smh.

Morkula raised a point with me about the Get-Together and holding one on Christmas seems unfeasible. Since Christmas is often, for a lot of people, a time where family time is much more important, I don't expect a Christmas Get-Together to be immensely popular. Feel free to hold (or organize with the moderators) your own events in each forum; we can link to them in a special announcement thread, like a "Christmas activities @ PC" or something like that.

I don't see how it will be a problem.

If we host it from a few days before Christmas to just past New Years, I can't see it NOT being popular. We get such a good reception from Get-Togethers; as you know.

I don't know about you, but I don't exactly not touch my laptop during the christmas and new year holidays. The forum isn't exactly going to be deserted.

Understandable about the board specific events, but I can seee a few boards taking this advice on and creating a few. If they are all dotted around the forum, that will surly defer activity towards the event.

Ps. I am drunk, so sorry if that made no sense.
