Something similar to Smogon's Trou Du Cul or Bulbagarden's Hall of Shame... except where regular members can reply to the ass threads that have landed themselves there and remind the posters why we just don't like their posts. Moderator discretion, whatever. Just my opinion.

been there done that, decided it was MUCH MORE trouble then it was worth.. maybe again one day.. then again, maybe not.

Don't see how it could be trouble...

I doubt a good amount of people would take it that well, solely based on the fact that a lot of members here even have trouble with the rep system or other situations with differing opinions. Putting their fail threads on public display would probably put it over the top.

It sure would be entertaining though =P

Not to mention every 5 minutes we will have spey asking why did this go there?
    Lol that is so true!

Well here are my 2 cents on this.

If someone is new and breaks the rules ones, or makes a bad thread (Who knows if it's the members first post), then is it really fair that we would do a thing like your suggesting, I think what your suggesting is rather mean and comes very close to bullying... So what tho someone makes a mistake it's not fair to constantly remind them of what they did and making a bad thread does not allow anyone to make "Snark remarks" about the thread nor it's maker.

And to be honest Smogon community is a bit "brute" while PC is a more of relaxed community were we avoyd insulting people or making them feel bad, we do not make it a sport to give people windows to fire insults at other member's nor do we dedicate a whole section to it, at least that's the pokecommunity I have come to know and I hope it stay's like that.

And Rukario, when you said "been there done that" I assume you meant the T-Dome that was here years ago.....?

Anyway those were my 2 cents....

    I completely disagree with this.

The idea of this is just horrible. I don't mind a storage section where you may view locked threads, but posting in them is a horrible idea. That will just produce more spam. Even if we disable post count, it still wouldn't hide the fact that people will make rude remarks, calling them "stupid" or "idiotic" because they made the thread. Make one once, oh, honest mistake. Make it twice, hmm, kind of out of hand. Make it thrice, okay, seriously, read the rules buddy.

Anyways, making a section to post in closed topics is a bad idea, because as I said above, it wil produce more spam, and we already get enough of that every second. So, looking at them, is okay to me, posting in them, whoa buddy, I don't think so!

Something that is done on another forum that I visit, I'll explain the whole system.

    1. If a user has done something irritating multiple times that doesn't warrant a ban, that person is sent into "Purgatory". In Purgatory, the user is only able to view one forum. The only other people who can see that forum are other purgatory members, and staff members. The person can get out by proving to the staff that they have changed.

    2. Another thing is a public bans forums. Anytime a person is banned/sent to purgatory, a topic is made here by the banner. The topic follows a pattern, outlining and providing links and reasoning behind the ban. Users can agree or disagree. If the majority opinion is towards disagree, the user may be unbanned or removed from purgatory.

The purgatory I could see being implemented here, but the public bans forum I doubt would be a success. The community is probably too large here for that.

Edit: I lol at my reputation on this post. Negative, with only a comment of "wrong".

Nah, the public bans forum idea was already suggested (which I'm not saying you're suggesting it now, I'm just saying) and it's been stated that that's what a specific thread for discussing banned users is for in the Mod and Admin Lounge in the staff section. Creating that with members allowed in the banning process of another ban would just defeat the purpose of the majority of that section all together.

The Purgatory reminds me of how PokeCharms (or whatever that forum was called) worked. I like that idea myself. It'd be rather nice to see that instead of someone who was temporarily banned being, well, temporarily banned... they can see a forum to try to see why they were banned. Even though the staff make it pretty clear when they ban a person why they were banned, users always try to battle against why they were banned making all sorts of claims. Actually being able to discuss it with staff without feeling the sense of them being ignored would be kind of nice. At least, that's just my view on the take.

    Spoiler:

Around...four years ago there was the "Bad, VERY Bad!" forum that was soon dismissed, there had been many different rule-breaking threads and posts that were dumped there for people to see. However, although the forum was supposed to depict what exactly members shouldn't be doing, it also worked against that purpose as a foil; fuelling the desire to spam and for people to be outright nuisances just to get in there, eventually the idea was scrapped. One reason why it was ridden was because of the want to keep PC a safe and comforting place to frequent, without having to look upon any silliness other people might commit themselves to doing, and it would be the staff members who are in charge of making sure things are stable.

We do a good enough job of informing people what you should and shouldn't do, that should be enough.

Putting peoples 'fail' posts would be completely wrong. It'd be like being a winner your whole life, excelling at everything only to mess up once and then have everyone ridicule you and completely forget your track record.

And sadly, such is the way of the world.

Wouldn't be right to add fuel that fire already. It's annoying enough that people pounce on someone for the smallest grammar error spelling mistake, let alone have there post up for everyone to just take crack shots at.

Just my four cents and... *rummages in his pocket* one button.

    LOL cool
    How about naming it
    "THE GREAT WALL OF SHAME"
where the most stupidest threds get movved to
lol Hope it gets made!!: )

I don't know, this just seems like it'll stop members from advancing from their mistakes if they are constantly reminded of it.

Why not call it the "Flame a member here" board?

If it was created, then it would just spark a lot of pointless and flaming posts like:

    "OMFG LOL! YOU IDIOT!"

    And so on.
There is enough of that now...

Alinthea you brought up an excellent point. In the forums mentioned they do not have the reputation system. A lot of people will get really low rep if members bashed them for their stupid threads.

In other words, you want to provide a cesspit for the trolls to fester in?
I don't know, this just seems like it'll stop members from advancing from their mistakes if they are constantly reminded of it.
They are constantly reminded of it, there are plenty of threads around stating the rules. Some people just find it impossible to follow them or to even bother reading them, it seems. I doubt doing this would decrease the amount of pointless threads and rule breaks.

Seems like span heaven to me....Who needs to spam about how bad your spamming is? That's what E-Mails and VM's are for. And I think us regular members that DON'T spam have a lower chance of getting away with it.

While I know how those other boards handle halls of shame, I don't exactly think it's a good idea precisely because Member 2's comment in this case = flame. Yes, it's just an example, but let's face it. Snark is all fine and dandy in certain situations, but to a kid who is willing to improve is just low. And then, when it's clearly a troll, feeding them usually is a bad idea in the first place.

In other words, word to naoi., Alinthea, and Vendak.
