perfect metagame

Only thing I want to change in the metagame is expand the number of mons in higher tiers, so that way there will be more diversity in the OU metagame, and there would be less mons in the lower tiers. Pieces of data have hearts you know, at least according to Kingdom Hearts Coded, because they want to be in the big leagues too.
Well technically every mon that is not uber or ag only can be player in ou, and in that sense it has the highest number of mons other than said ag or ubers. Ag leading by 1 :p.
Anyway even though all of them can be used doesn't mean all of them should be used, and what I mean by this is some mons are just shit in ou. So other than that u do have a variety of choice to chose from if u want to play for fun, and still a good amount of mons if ur serious and wanna win.

Lol yeah sorry man. I tend to be on guard when talking about OU because of how confrontational the conversations usually are.

And on the revolving door concept, I'll use the mons that you listed as an example.

"I would ban Metagross, Diancie, Sableye, both Charizards, Gardevoir", we'll throw in Lando-T, Latios, Rotom-W and Thundurus Incarnate for good measure.

Aegislash, Mega Lucario, Blaziken and its Mega, Greninja, Mega Mawhile, you get the point... all get rotated back in for a quarter. The usage stats are recalculated at the end of the quarter, a new set of Pokes is banned, and Meta, Diancie, Sableye, Charizards, etc. become kosher again. Probably including Gren and Megawhile lets be honest heh. Lather, rinse, repeat.

This would be really fun. I think the downside is that metagames constantly evolve and stabilize without little jolts/rotations, and I think that it would be difficult to do tiering.

I would change this slightly so that ridiculously broken things like Mega Blaziken don't get rotated in, but just that some high OU Pokemon (preferably megas mostly, as the high OU non megas are almost all glue Pokemon to stop the OP megas ~_~) get rotated out. Mega Mawile was terrible enough to deal with on its own, so if the Zards happened to be rotated out during its stay in OU, that would be terrible.

I think the fundamental idea of rotation is pretty neat though. It's probably unrealistic for a metagame because of difficulties with tiering, but it might make a fun tournament! I'm sure something similar has been done before?

So this is gonna come from the other side once again but the ways that we like to deal with Mega Mawile in VGC are legion. Heatran, Expert Belt Swampert, Heatran, Rotom-Heatran, Mega Camerupt in Trick Room, Heatran, Suicune, Quiver Dance Volcarona, Hydreigon (believe it or not), Heatran, Heatran and Heatran.

Why Heatran, you ask? It 4X resists Play Rough and Iron Head, so you can set up a Substitute and Heat Wave/Earth Power away, only taking 25% damage from Sucker Punch, less with Lefties recovery.

The point being, it's not typical to see a non-rain team without a Fire type on VGC, and if you do, somethings gonna be running a hard-hitting Fire- or Earth- type move to take out Mega Mawile.

This why I think Doubles is the superior format, because something can't sweep the whole meta on its own merit against a well-assembled team.

those things don't work nearly as well in singles though :P

The revolving banlist concept sounds kinda cool; I'd like it- however I doubt I'd be in the majority there lol. Too many jimmies rustling too loudly at a meta that isn't pre-establsished upon their entering it. And not to sound overly-snide; but I think the reason OU has the most pokemon usable but some of the lamest diversity is the people, not the game. Er, well maybe equal parts people and game. Because realistically Game Freak COULD MAKE MORE FIRE-STEEL TYPES THAT AREN'T LEGENDS .... but I doubt they will heh.

In my perfect meta everyone's a pony, and they all eat rainbows and poop butterflies

Id partake in the revolving banlist tour or metagame, we could have this on the pc server like as a permanent thing/ladder and even for BW's lol.

Anyway for /my/ perfect metagame id ban

  • All OU/BL megas. All very much aids that force and exacerbate team match up issues that this gen is famous for.
  • Gothitelle. THE personification of cancer/Hitler that takes no skill to use. Picks off and removes pokes at will and by simply being present forces team match ups.
  • Landorus-I. I dont see how ou benefits from this things presence. See: my point on megas
Additional:
  • Suspect Test Knock Off. High reward move with almost NO drawbacks. Closer look at Scald too.
  • Quick Ban Hoopa-U. Doesnt even need an explanation or test.
  • All the current banned Pokemon stay banned. Possible retest for Aegi and Genesect once megas are gone. Yeah i know, but it would be nice to see how they perform in another meta and without all the bs megas to prep for it might leave a few team slots open to better deal with these.
