I've always wondered since the hoenn season started what level is pikachu? Has any1 done the calculations to find pikachus level? I highly doubt it but it would be great to work on for a challenge.(not to mention 100+ hours staring at a screen.)

I don't know what Pikachu's level is.. but in every new region he experiences a level reset one way or the another.

Also, I don't think that the concept of levels is applicable to the Anime. But I have heard people in the Anime speak about it. And it isn't even possible for us to figure out Pikachu's level on the basis of moves learned as Pikachu knows many TM moves as well as moves in the Anime aren't necessarily following the game mechanics.

    For example,[jq]
Dawn's Piplup also shows that the anime does not strictly follow the games' system. In its debut episode, it used Bide, a move Piplup normally does not learn until level 18, by which point it would be showing signs of evolution. This did not happen until Stopped in the Name of Love!. Therefore, level up moves can generally be learned at any time in the anime. [/jq]

Another interesting piece of information I found out was that the first time levels were referred to was briefly by Meowth during the second episode when he said Ash's Pikachu was "powerful beyond its evolutionary level."

Well to be honest, I think those mentions of levels were just mentions of how powerful it was, not game level wise.. it only mentioned levels in the dubs anyway, they were probably mistranslations.

I find it really annoying... You see Pikachu draw in a match again a latios in the sinnoh league and gets defeated by a starter Tsutaja!

    Yeah...I reckon Pikachu's special

He has infinite levels, and like Deoxys, is affected by the climate (just not meteors). Climate applies in that in unfamiliar regions he has has inhibitions in battle, allowing n00bs to beat him (I don't blame him for being scared seeing as he always loses the ability to use electric-type moves / gets killed by electricity for some reason). Infinite levels applies to how he learned Volt Tackle. He was back in Kanto, where he got a massive level boost due to being in his homeland, and learned it as he soared through the levels. In the Orange Islands and Johto he didn't lose power as the climate was similar enough.

Assuming levels are active in the anime, I'm guessing that Pikachu's at level 100 by now because Ash has had it for the past 10+ years. But what I don't get is why it gets "weaker" in each season.

    Actually, if we read
this , it is quite evident that the mentions of levels aren't just measures of how powerful Pokemon are.
    [jq]
It was later mentioned more obviously by students at the Academy in The School of Hard Knocks. One of them was able to quote the levels at which Pidgey and the rest of its family evolve and learn certain moves. The main characters and their Pokémon, however, remain seemingly oblivious to the idea. [/jq]

Still coulde have been a mistranslation, and also that was very early into the anime so they could have easily changed the system.
    Blame Zekrom's lightning for it.
Pikachu still had six other non-electric moves including Quick attack and Iron tail. Thats no excuse, pikachu could have just won that battle with pure skill...

Also. Stop using bulbapedia, use your own knowladge. Bulbapedia can easily be wrong the same way Wikipedia can be because anyone can edit it.

I know that. -_- What I meant was maybe Pikachu experienced a level reset because of Zekrom's lightening. And when it became a level playing field, Tsutaja won the battle.

    Huh? What? ;_;
I just linked Bulbapedia because I though a reference should be given. It's not like I don't remember the events in the Anime at all. >_>

Also, stop running away from the truth.

It was stated that it only took Pikachus electric attacks, thats all.
Even if that is true Pikachu would still have had more battle experience and those other moves to beat Tsutaja.

I've seen you do it in a lot of posts, just use your own knowledge to prove your points, and like I said, it could have been a mistranslation and Bulbapedia isn't a good source since it can be edited. Nuff said.

Im using my own knowledge to prove my own point.

I never said that Pikachu had less experience, did I? Pokemon battles are full of uncertainties and I don't think that Ash even used all those six moves. Tsutaja must be a little faster to evade Pikachu's attacks.

Bulbapedia is a wiki, meaning that editing is a simple process of clicking on the 'Edit this page' link, provided you have registered. It is overseen by an editorial board and is part of Encyclopædiæ Pokémonis and the Nintendo Independent Wiki Alliance.
    Anything more I should say?

Im using my own knowledge to prove my own point.

You are trying to prove it without references, and I'm not accepting it. D:

xD You just proved my point.

Again you proved my point, easily can be edited.
Not everything is as good as gold on that site, there have been errors before and I even edit on the site, and loads of things have been overseen before. Also, not everything is checked straight away.

Im basing my opinions on your references. Again, i'll just carry on saying this... it could have been a mistranslation and Bulbapedia isn't a good source since it can be edited. Nuff said.

    /me clueless.

A mistranslation.. You mean a translation error while dubbing? Then can we have a Japanese version of that particular episode? Maybe you can you point me to a source where I can get accurate answers if Bublapedia shouldn't be used.

After getting so far I've almost forgotten what exactly we were debating on. XD

    Yes, thats what mistranslation means.
Look it up for yourself, it's against the rules to share episodes here (Well Ilegal)
A reliable source? How about watching the actual episode, looking at the credits...?
My there have been loads of mistranslations that both 4Kids and PUSA has done in the past. The japanese version could have easily just said "its strength is at a high level." but then the idiots at 4Kids probably thought it was a reference to the games or something.
My answer: Games =/= Anime. Period.
^ This, I don't know why we are still debating. This thread should be closed.

My answer: Games =/= Anime. Period.
Basically says it all. Plus, this thread got out of hand; from determining Pikachu's level, to proving points and resources. >_>; Let's try and stay on topic next time, guys.
