    Hi everyone!

I'm working with a partner in a project that involves doing an animation that explains a fictional new game of Pokemon: Project PKMN. The idea is to introduce all the amazing characteristics that everyone have always desired for a PKMN game (MMORPG system, the freedom of being whatever you want, from a Gym Leader to a Team Rocket member, and a lot more).

We are searching a personal style for the video. You have to understand that the visual style won't be the style of the fictional game, but just for the animation we are developing.

Could you help us by telling us your opinion of our style trials?
    Thanks a lot!

I adore these - should definitely be much easier to animate due to the simplicity, and looks unique in the sense that it's almost like a "paper/cardboard cut-out" type of style (in a good way!). I do like how you left out the excessive details on the Pokemon while still making them easily recognizable through your own unique style. :D

Eevee is my personal favorite; its pose and large eyes are just adorable!

These are good; but for animation, some of them can be simplified more like Vaporeon and Machoke. The rest seem okay to me, though! :33 But it depends on if you're going to animate them traditionally or create a library in flash. I just know vaporeon's little bumps look like a nightmare to do traditionally @__@ It's making me want to pull my hair out just looking at it haha (I'm a professional animator so I know how irritating tracking small details can be if it's gonna be all hand-drawn.) But if it's a library then it shouldn't be as hard to do. :3

Otherwise great stuff! I'm reeaallllyy digging the style, and I like how each of them was designed to show a lot of personality. Looking forward to see if you post any more or a link to the final animation! :33

I love this cute, simple style
The only problem I see is Eevee's fur collar, whose shape deviates from the original/canon shape but I take that as artist's preference
Good luck with your project :)

FIRST OF ALL: There are new PKMNs in the first message! More than 50 now

Thanks, Limanya! There are some PKMNs that you like more? some you like less? Please, I want to know (:

Thanks, Cirno. Here you have more PKMNs to see!

Ah, Kura, thanks a lot for your opinion and advices. We animate with AfterEffects; but, yes, we use libraries. We will love any advices of you. We work as freelances doing different tasks such as innovation, creativity (in advertising), design or animation. But we are quite sure you must be more professional than us! As you can see, now there are more PKMNs. From here, we will start to design trainers, PKMNs from the new generations and PKMNs fighting, in order to master the design of some PKMNs and be more used to design them!
We are glad that you like our style ;)

北海道, we have noticed the collar size in Eevee and Hypno. We will see if doing them smaller the result is better. Thanks for the opinion. What do you think about the new ones?

They're pretty good! Though I still have to stress some detail in pokemon such as Arcanine or Magmar being a bit too much. Rapidash is a little flat, and Arcanine is, too. I know you're going into a flat style, but when I say flat here, I mean a bit unstructured. As for the two squirtles, it depends on the personality. If the squirtle is going to be animated as a "kind" character, I would go with the circular head.. as circles in animation character design subliminally mean "good guy." The jumping Golduck has a great line of action, so if you could bring that to characters like Dodrio it would be stronger. The second Golduck and Dratini's style seems to shift a bit.. it seems to have too many straights and not enough curve like your other designs have.. so there is a bit of inconsistency. I like how you're trying to simplify, though!

However, I'd be better at helping you if I could see a sequence of animation. You're going to have to make a lot of parts for each pokemon if you're gonna give them full animation. I'm not sure what -animation- style you're going for (nevermind just design style) but if you were able to post something that's animated I could better help you.

Aftereffects is pretty good, though, I am curious as to what you're going to use with it. I'm guessing you're going to be animating with the puppet-tool in there? I know you're at the pre-production stage but it's always good to do tests now to see how long the animations will actually take to do.

ANyways, for the most part these look awesome. I'm just giving you a handful of things to consider, however, I'm curious as to what the story is since you're making so many of these designs. I'm excited to see how production starts going.

These are awesome they look like there from a kids show. what program did you use?

    Hi again!

Austinthomas: thanks a lot! We use Photoshop; but we use tools that you can also use in Illustrator.

Kura: thanks again for the advices! We are keeping the first style! I think that this style is evolving in a good way. The pokemons from new generations are being designed faster and the results are often better than the first generation ones. What do you think?

We are more consistent now, with the curvy style!

We haven't started to animate yet! I have to say that probably we don't have the animation style required to animate this. But while we are designing all this, we are also improving our animation level. We will need some of your help when we start to animate! Hope you don't have problems with helping us (:

Here you have some of our previous works! You will see that our level is still basic (all the vids are just between the 2 and the 4 minutes):

    My Red Pet
    Donate a Surprise
    Music me
    The Real Horse Race
    Let's Run for the Horses

Hey! I just dropped our first designs of the three next "phases":

Ahhhh I love these styles. You really pull it off well. So simplistic and clean cut looking. It reminds me kinda-of of Samurai Jack or something. XD

These are good and its an awesome style! And they are soooo cute XD
