Place in the canon timeline?

Do you think legends 2 will predate the pokemon war and the darkest day of Galar or after? Which would be most interesting storyline wise? I'd go with before, but others may go for a daring during (not like this'll actually happen.) or after which isn't going to be a popular choice.

I highly doubt it for either. Both occurred 3,000 years prior to the modern games, which, assuming a similar pace of technological development to the real world, would put them both in the Bronze Age. The trailer we were shown was significantly more advanced than that.

I'd personally expect something around 200 years prior to the mainline games, to put it around the same time as Legends: Arceus.

Judging by the overall theme of the trailer, I'd place it later in the timeline compared to Arceus, maybe 100ish years give or take. Without knowing exact times for the development of Kalos' infrastructure it's hard to tell. But I'm guessing we'll see the start of the Pokeball factory and the birth of the modern Pokeball.

Since all the mainline regions so far have been based on real world regions/countries and Pokemon seems to, as far we know, somewhat follow the real-world timeline, that kinda pins down when LZA will roughly take place.

Sinnoh/Hisui is based off of the island of Hokkaido, and while the Japanese had a small settlement in southernmost Hokkaido since the 1500 or 1600s, they didn't really begin to colonize Hokkaido until the latter half of the 1800s. So the Galaxy Expedition Team basically mirrors Japanese expansion throughout Hokkaido, and the Diamond and Pearl clans are more or less supposed to be the Ainu people that inhabited the island for centuries or millennia prior. So this puts PLA at about 150-170 years prior to the time most of the main games take place in.

Kalos is based off of France, Lumiose City is basically Paris. And in the latter half of the 1800s Paris went through a big redevelopment, which is also apparently what LZA is about--the redevelopment of Lumiose City. So like PLA, it also probably takes place roughly 150-170 years ago.
