4th Gen Platinum Q&A Thread

Does anyone know how soon you can find and catch Rotom? Do you still have to wait until after you beat the E4?
You only need to get Cut. Rotom comes early game in Plat.
Can anyone confirm Hypnosis's accuracy drop in Platinum?
70% -> 60%.
Also, Sleep as a stat ailment itself has been changed to the US DP standard:
Original DP: 2~7 turns
American DP/Pt: 1~7 turns
Has there been improvements on the ingame A.I. at all?

I haven't bin challenged really since Emerald's Battle Fontier. And now that Platinum will get its own Frontier...
While I have yet to visit Frontier in Pt, the AI seems to be smarter in general.
There are even some NPCs that use stat boosting items.

The horrors of 3 low level Pokemon VS 1 Cadabra with Sp.Atk boosted ;_;

I'm getting mine from Play-Asia.net

Excuse me? Has the sleep stat ever lasted seven turns? I thought it was only five.

And how does the wifi work if a person with Platinum is battling a person with Pearl? Is the accuracy different for each fighter or is it changed?

Uh, no. The Sleep Status lasts a minimum of 1 turn and a maximum of 7 turns in all games, bar Pokemon Stadium which had a 1 turn minimum and a 3 turn maximum. Though very unlikely, it is possible for a Sleep condition to last 7 turns.

That's crazy O_o I could sworn at the least, the limit *used* to be five. And for the record five turns has always been the limit in my matches, anyway. Hmm. Is there a factor for it to go to 6+? Has anyone experienced seven turns of sleep?

I think it'll sell good. Why wouldn't it? Pokemon DP has sold more than RS combined. It just came out, so I have no idea how many copies of Platinum have been sold.

THat's a bad comaprison, as R/S did not do as good as R/B and G/S.

Infact, until Diamond and Pearl were released, Gold and Silver were the best selling Pokemon games ever. the 3rd gen was really not all that popular sales-wise.

Aw. So it is true.

Sounds weird though, that they would cut a move's accuracy during a generation.

Well, D/P has increased just about every aspect from the previous generations with it's release, and Platinum is only an improvement from those. And Emerald's addition of the Battle Frontier dramatically raised the 3rd generation's sale rates. I expect the same will happen with Platinum.

I have a question. Is it true that Houndour is found on Route 207, which is north of Eterna City?
Personally, I have never encountered it there.
Plus, quite a few resources I just bothered to check seem to confirm my statement.
Sorry, but I don't believe so.

So is platinum just like d/p except different pokes? Is the story the same, or just the region?

The story is very similar, but there are a few changes. Let's just say they have added something to the story and made it more interesting.
There aren't really different Pokémon either. For the most part, the same Pokémon can be found in the same places, however; there are a few that can be found in new places or are not found at all. For example, one can no longer find Glameow or Stunky in the Platinum version of Sinnoh.

That's a huge disappointment. I just finished diamond again and am pretty tired of the story, I was really hoping platinum would bring a fresh new game.

Well, there is enough of a change to keep you entertained, if that's what you mean. I'm not fluent in Japanese, so I can't really tell you too much about the actual storyline, however; there does seem to be quite a good amount of different script in the game as far as I have gotten. Have you ever played Emerald, Crystal, or Yellow? The difference is about that level from their respected pairs. In other words, it's just another sequel, but it's still worth the purchase.

AFAIK, the the accuracy/Sleep turns are different for each player... so the guy using Hypnosis in Diamond/Pearl would have the upper hand to a guy using Hypnosis in Plat.
Same thing was examined in Japanese DP VS American DP, which lead to some Japanese players importing American DP to utilize this to their advantage.

Japanese DP: Hypnosis 70%, Sleep 2~7 turns
American DP: Hypnosis 70%, Sleep 1~7 turns (currently top choice for the very competitive type)
Japanese Pt: Hypnosis 60%, Sleep 1~7 turns

Hmm well then, I can definitely see the Battle Stadium trainers sticking to their Diamond/Pearl versions with battles. I was planning on doing that anyway, sure the battle might look cooler in Platinum, but I can just transfer my guys with moves over and then still keep my same Friend Code :) (I memorized that thing...even before my Social Security number. I'm not losing it now, XD)

No body knows this. Just keep checking Serebii to find out but its sure to come out next year in US
