How do you feel about the gym leader battle rules, that the challenger is only able to switch Pokémon, etc? Why do you feel these battle regulations exist within the anime?

Gym are supposed to be tests for Trainers. I think one said that he was a wall to be surpassed. Even rookies need to be given some small advantage, as Leaders will most of the time have more experience that the challenger.
