Hi guys, My cousin passed from an illness and my aunt passed on a collection of his cards to me.

I was hoping you guys could help me figure out if it is worth auctioning these cards for charity. I know very little about pokemon and would like to use his love for it to give something back.

Here are shots of the cards: creativemonarchy.com/poke/

I forgot to mention, all 151 of the original collection seem to be here with a few variation cards of some pokemon

That looks like nearly a full Base Set, in addition to most of Rocket and some of the Gym sets, AND an Ancient Mew to boot. Your cousin had a great collection. eBay would be your best bet I think, that's certainly where I would look first for that. So nice to think to give to charity.

Thanks @ddrox13, the cards mean little to me and I would love to find them a great home and use the cash to bring a little joy back to a sad affair ... Okay so I should look up what a base set is and put a checklist together for the auction correct?

What do you think I should price this at and how would I find out which cards to advertise?

I am guessing the ancient mew is the super shiny one that has the illegible writing?

I know I am asking a lot, but I really am clueless... are there any services I could pay for to get them appraised?

"Base Set" was the first set of Polemom cards released to the public. It contained 102 cards, a list of which can be found at https://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Base_Set_(TCG). They have no set symbol, which in your case means no icon on the right side of the card just under the image (where the R is on some other cards). You may also want to check some other sets to see if you have those.

If you have the full Base Set (or Team Rocket set) or are just missing the energies/trainers it can be sold as such. The value varies greatly depending on which print run they are part of. Specifically, if they are from the first 3 runs, they were printed with a slightly different font and are worth much more. I assume they aren't, but I'm no expert there. Poke around EBay or see if your local card store can help. Ancient Mew can be sold separately at around $6 it seems.

And yes, Ancient Mew is the shiny weird one.

There's easily hundreds of dollars worth there. Starting the bidding around $250 should be a good start
