You know, if you are carrying a light sword, and you have a free hand, why not carry another light sword with that free hand :P. Well, like everyone else, there's a lot of factors to decide which is better. If you're a small, fast person, then go for light sword. If you're a strong person, go big heavy sword. Imagine a huge strong, agile person with a light sword O_o

if they're that strong, why not carry the big sword with one hand? XD

But also, according to physics that I learnt in school, if 2 people with the exact identical physical build up, one using the light sword and the other one using the heavier but 2-handed sword, and if they clash right into one another with their weapon...

heavy sword user > light sword user

Heavy sword ALWAYS triumph if both swordplayers have the same amount of strength, power and speed.

Well...Frost is correct...but it depends on the strength of that human...if he can or cannot wield the sword well...also depends on their fighting styles...oh well...However, that is not very common so...light sword triumphs for me XD

I'd say a light sword. With a light sword you would be able to manuever quicker, and swing more. Even though you would have to use the lighter sword more to knock the enemy out, at least you would be able to try again in a shorter amount of time.

With a heavier sword, you would have to use a lot of strength trying to lift it and strike someone, and there's not a big guarantee that you will actually hit your target.
The heavier sword will slow you down and will be harder to steer.

That's my 2 cents...

I think light is better because you can move more quickly and attack more, but beware of putting research on forums because there are the evil people who'll stuff up the votes on purpose.
