    Ok, I'm using PC to gather info for my project! Cool, huh? Anyway....PLEASE VOTE I really need all the votes I can get so that My project will work out for me!

    It is kind of a weird question, but answer the poll on opinion, you don't need to know the physics or anything.

    Which would be more effective in combat?

    A heavy sword that takes two hands to use,

    -or-

    A light sword that uses only one hand?

    Please answer in the poll above ^^ Thanks. I'll take comments too!

    if i've learned anything from soul calibur it's that... raphael can own nightmare! and therefore, a light sword is much more effective. the big sword just slows you down, unless you are very strong. which you of course are not.

    I think that a lighter sword would work best. You're able to have atleast one free hand to help block off enemies or whatever, and it's not as heavy, so you would probably be moving more swiftly. That's my opinion.

    Well, I would guess that a lighter sword would be more efficient? although I suppose it really depends on the user of the sword as well. Like rsgh5 said, if the wielder is strong enough to easily use a heavier sword without lagging in other areas (such as agility or awareness, etc.), it might be better to use that. But I would guess for the average person, a lighter sword would be better because you could be far more nimble (as I would guess it?s hard to run and dodge other swords if you?re carrying something with two hands). o.o;

    If Zelda has taught me anything its that having a shield is handy. Thus, you need at least one free hand. That being a reason I hate using the Biggoron's Sword. I'd rather use a light sword with a shield then a heavy sword in two hands and being defenceless

    If my 568 hours spent on Soul Caliber II has told me anything about swords, it's that light swords mainly dominate, despite the fact that I use Cervantes as my primary character.

    If I were to choose a sword to fight with in real life, I would choose a light sword due to my small size.

    Actually, it really depends on how you handle Nightmare. He can pressure Raphael pretty well from afar, and Nightmare isn?t that slow. Anyway?

    I never had a problem using the Biggy Triforce. In fact I?d always get it before I did the forest temple. ^_^ If you wanna debate it further though, we probably shouldn?t use this topic. =p

    It depends?if there?s no armor involved a good cut to the neck or heart would kill with either sword, and you?d be able to fein and move swifter with a light sword. Of course if the heavy sword is pretty big, you could give them no where to run and have more options to kill them since you wouldn?t need to hit major arteries or anything like that. You could just decapitate them or something. This is assuming of course that you?re trying to kill them with it. If it?s fencing to just get the first blow, that?s another story?
    *violent* o.o;

    On SCII... my main character is... yeah... Talim... she doesnt really have a sword, but her weapons are very lightweight, and she's one of the swiftest characters. I've taken down the biggest of opponents with her. (Cute and strong n.n)

    But more on topic, I'll have to go with lightweight sword... although like Kairi said, with a larger weapon, you can care less on where you hit an opponent, and just.. hit him. As oposed to a lightweight sword where ya gotta aim for weaker spots.

    It'd also depend on the person wielding the sword. A big guy wielding a lightweight sword is pointless... and downright scary o_o... but a big dude with a big sword would be great, though he'd still be slow.

    Me, I'm medium... but I prefer lightweight swords, so... instead of getting into a 20 page essay... I'll just go with that ^^

    She technically uses elbow blades, but let?s try to adhere to the topic. ^_^;;

    In battle, being more nimble than your opponent can mean life or death...light swords are far superior to heavy swords because they can be jabbed and slashed just as well as a heavy sword while freeing up one hand for a shield or other accessory and allowing you to run circles around your opponent. The only useful heavy item in combat is an axe, which crushes rather than cuts since it is so blunt. Axes, while requiring two hands, can be used much more aggressively because they can crush through armor while swords take a little more skill to find a weak spot on an opponent...heavy swords slow you down without the benefit of an axe.

    When I play Soul Calibur I generally play with Sophiana or something like that. She basically is a knightess. But anyway, I she wields a lighter sword and a shield and it proves for better combat. So personally, I find the lightwieght sword more efficient in battle.

    Light one. Doesn't use up your other hand, and its swifter! ^^ I mean, look at Talim! ^.^ She's swift! ^.^ Well, she uses both of her hands. But hey!

    *dies*

    Well, when I play SCII my best charectors are yunsung & nightmare, so Im pretty good with both swords on the game. Although Im more effective with nightmare, I voted for a lighter sword, because Im not strong or fast enough to weild a bigger sword, but in the right hands a big sword can be down right deadly.

    great now this thread goes off in SCII
    id take the lighter sword cause of the possible speed...in my mind, speed is WAY more deadlier than power...however speed + power = ultimate ownage...especially in video games

    Cool project hehe...

    I would think it all depends on strength. Of course, a stronger person can wield a heavier sword and be just as quick as a weaker person with a lighter sword. More often though, the big sword will slow you down anyway....

    *is in LotR mode hehe*

    A big sword will also tire out the user faster, so then he/she won't be able to defend themselves from the nimbler person with the smaller sword. It would also depend on experience, though.

    Overall, I would have to go with the smaller sword. Not only is it quicker, but you also have a free hand to use, whether it be for a shield, or even for your small sword, to make it all the faster.

    THANKS!!

    Ok, this thread can be closed, unless people want to talk about SC2 sum more....@_@

    I would agree that a lighter sword rules! The katana is the ultimate sword in my eyes.....

    well technically both of them should be just as effective (or else why would the people in the past use both, not just one and throw away the other?). I just voted light sword because I know that I lack strength majorly, and the light sword will be hard enough for me to hold o.o;
