PMD&D: Azumarill's Trial

Welcome to another Get-Together edition of Pokémon Mystery Dungeons and Dragon(ite)s - Azumarill's Trial
As the name implies, this is a Pokémon Mystery Dungeon-inspired TTRPG (tabletop roleplaying game) - much like D&D. Granted, we designed this system to be much simpler and more beginner-friendly than actual Dungeons and Dragons. Someone with no TTRPG experience should find this just as easy to understand mechanically as someone who has been playing similar games for years.
To put it simply, your Game Master (either myself or Lycanthropy) will be guiding you through a PMD-inspired story we have put together just for this Get-Together. You will take on the role of a Pokémon hero - much like the games themselves - playing out interactions, solving puzzles and engaging in battles with the aid of (virtual) dice rolls to determine outcomes. That's the general idea. We'll explain more during each group's Session 0 (more on that below). However, you are plenty welcome to ask questions in advance in this thread.
To participate you will need an account on Discord and Roll20. (Both are free!)
Note: While we understand talking out loud during a TTRPG can feel a bit awkward at first, especially if you're someone who is really trying to get into character, you will need to be able to participate vocally in a Discord call to join. We have come to notice playing through text slows down the gameplay a lot and isn't really practical when you're on a time crunch. But don't worry, we're all fun and friendly people!
Every year, Guildmaster Azumarill organises a special event for his guild to put them to the test, improve their skills and appraise the talent under his command: the Great Azumarill Games. As fledgling members of the famed Azumarill's Exploration & Rescue Guild, this is your first time participating in the prestigious event. This is your big chance to show the big boss himself that your team is ready to be out there with the best of the best and make a name for yourselves. Impress the Guildmaster and you might be able to accelerate your way into some truly exciting missions.
In previous years, we've given you guys a selection of Pokemon you can play. However, this time around you have a lot more freedom. Your character can be any Pokemon at its base level of evolution or baby stage (if it has one) so long as it is not a legendary, mythical or paradox Pokemon or an Ultra Beast. When you put your character together in Session 0 (we're getting to it, I promise), you will be able to select any five moves from your Pokemon's most recent natural learnset (including egg moves). You may also include one TM or Tutor move in that selection if you wish.
We will be running this game for two groups, each having two sessions over the course of the GT. During week one, we will have a character creation session - also called Session 0. This is the session where rather than play the game, we will explain how the system works to you in a little more detail, introduce you to your character sheets and help you actually create your adventuring Pokémon ready for the game. Then, the next week, you will actually play the game. Each time slot is listed below in GMT/UTC-4.
Group A
Session 0: Friday the 19th at 11:00 pm
Game: Friday the 26th at 11:00 pm
Time Conversion Here
Group B
Session 0: Sunday the 21st at 1:00 pm
Game: Sunday the 28th at 1:00 pm
Time Conversion Here
Group A will be run by me while Group B will be run by Lycanthropy. We're aiming to have 4-5 people in each group, but if we end up with a group of 3 we can make it work. If we end up with more people than we can fit into these two groups, we'll see what we can arrange but we make no promises we'll have the time to run a third group. Session 0 will last 30-60 minutes while the game itself will last 3-4 hours. Please keep that in mind when signing up!

This is a collaborative game, so there's isn't really any way for any one team to do better than the other here. Instead, we'll be giving 25 participation points to everyone who participates in both their Session 0 and the game itself. Essentially, the more of you that join the fun, the more points you'll earn for your team.
That being said, this time around we are scoring groups A and B against each other as both teams are canonically competing in the same challenge. This will have no impact on the GT point scores, but it will give you (and your DM) those delicious bragging rights that we all love.
