PMD: Exploration and Corruption of the New Frontier (IC)(PG-13)

"anyone anyone?" zeke looked around. "fine."

Zeke tapped the tree that he slashed through.

"ta da" he said blandly

the tree fell over. Zeke cut the tree into a large timber. he dragged it over to a pile of other wooden beams.

"if you hadn't noticed living in a tent isn't that great. so i'm trying to build a house here." Zeke blurted randomly.

Leigh had never really thought about it but evolution can be a scary experience. All leigh knew is that he would get would looked like feet when he evolved but there could be much more to that for all he knew. He's heard of his evolutions having very unpredictable movement at times. Felicia asked Leigh what sneasel had just mentioned.

Leigh spoke specifically to Felicia so nobody could hear the words being transmitted to her mind. "She was asking when we're supposed to start our missions." He told her. "She does make a good point though" He said to the others. "I'm not too sure where we're supposed to all meet up at but I'm sure this isn't the spot" Leigh soon became blinded by all of the dirt and pie bits that were stuck in his green gel. "Erm, Excuse me, I have to clean myself off. I'll be back." He said nervously as he floated away from the fire.

Specter walked out of the tent. he dropped his shoulders when he noticed the group had grown. he walked to the lumber pile and started working.

"Specter Specter Specter. you don't have to work now tis a party my dear friend." Zeke used an old british accent.

Specter ignored him and carried a timber to an elevated foundation which was just out of the fire light. Specter built up another layer of the walls. it looked like a giant lincon log project. the building was going to be three rooms a bedroom, kitchen/living room, and a spare room.

Zeke wasn't the only one who was tired of living in a tent. Specter liked staying around, but he couldn't stay in the tent with Zeke.

'Zeke why won't you just let me act on my own.' Specter took a deep sigh.

It would seem that Flare had somewhat gone off into a trance for the past few minutes, just staring there at the floor with a dead look in his face. The words echoed in his head but they didn't register. What was he thinking? Hell, even he didn't know. He was probably having an inner monolouge with the voice of his father again. Either way, blinking his little eyes again, he shook his head and turned to see even MORE Pokemon.

"Sorry...' he said with a little chuckle. "I seem to have zoned out. What did I miss?"

((OOC: I'm a bit torn between the escort, or finding our own way there...lol))

Layne was a bit taken back by the question. Him know his way around town? "Me? I barely just got here." Layne said.

Layne looked at the sheet he had been handed, and wondered slightly why his new partner had been reluctant to finish the sentence, but he put the sheet back on the pole and looked up. "The entrance to the town is that way, and East is in that direction...." he muttered to himself.

He inhaled. The morning sky was gray, and the ground was still somewhat damp from the morning dew.

"If we were to head out now, I'd think we'd be able to hit guild in maybe an hour or so. But doing so may be somewhat risky, as far as we don't know what wild pokemon live here and how far the corruption has spread from this spring, wherever it is." Layne then said, "Or we can wait a few more hours, and wait for the escort of whoever this Bruno guy is."

Xell turned to the Tepig. "Nothing much, I guess." Xell turned toward the group, his blue hide reflecting the remaining cinders of the extinguished fire.

"Have any of you noticed the various notes all around Lakeside? Something about a Bruno guy escorting us to the guild. And to answer your question, Alaska, if memory serves me well, then our mission is to investigate the Northern Lands. Apparently, they have been corrupted. It says so on the posters, I think." Xell looked at the others, wondering if they knew what he was talking about. I'm not normally this talkative... maybe it's just because I'm excited about this Rescue Team. I'll shut up and see what they have to say.

Felicia had finished her pie and looked up as the fire was extinguished and looked up having no idea what they were talking about. She sighed resting her chin on her front paws her golden fur fluffing up under a slight breeze.

Leigh kept his distance and moved behind a tree. He closed his eyes and concentrated on the bits and pieces stuck on him. Using his psychic abilites, the bits of dirt and pie slowly slid through the green gel and fell to the ground. "Good as new" Leigh thought to himself. He often found himself doing this alot. His green Gel tends to catch alot of stuff. He checked to make sure the crystal protecting him from further corruption was still on him, which it was. "hmm... this thing better work... I don't want to become one of them."

Leigh floated on back to the campfire and noticed a sign posted on the way. The sign explained about wanting explorers to investigate the northern parts of the island and mentioned an escort. He would be leaving at 1 and expects the pokemon to arrive early. "What time is it now..." He wondered as he headed back. The green blob floated on back to the fire. "Hi all. Needed some "personal space" for a bit" He said, with a faint laugh. "I actually saw a notice on the way here. An escort is supposed to take us to the east of lakeside at 1 o' clock due to corruption."

Leigh was slightly worried. It had been awhile since he had been close to the corruption, ever since that wild Ferret attacked him. He hasn't seen how bad it had gotten since the past months. "...You know I used to live up north, back when it was only the springs that were mostly effected. Though I dodged a bullet and got away on time before it got worse. I miss exploring up there..." He explained to everyone.

"Sorry, I uh..." she mumbled, her mouth full. "Kinda' phased out there for a moment. So yeah, I guess I am 'Team Leader'. Feels kinda weird though... I'm Maria by the way."

Maria yawned slightly. After an awkward silence, Maria said to Teddius who was on the verge of dozing off. "So... wanna go see who's our latest competition?" she joked, examining the other Pokemon which were also here. "Uh..what? I'm awake! Oh okay, why not?" The Teddiursa stumbled to his feet and followed the Hoppip out to the camp of Lakeside.

The sun shone brightly and the breeze was warm and gentle. Teddius looked around, his view scanned the whole clearing around him. Then he caught sight of a notice stuck on a bulletin board, fluttering slightly in the wind. He motioned a hand to Maria and said, "Hey, what's that thing?"

"Uh.. what? I'm awake! Oh okay, why not?" replied the Teddiursa as he stumbled to his feet.

Maria chuckled a little more. What a motley crew the two of them made! A Teddiursa which could barely stay awake and a Hoppip which was barely staying out of her routine day-dreams. Still, Maria knew this would be fun to see how it played out, so she ignored that, and simply let the soft breeze blow through the three leaves which adorned her head. And the light winds made flying such an easy task, it was as if she didn't have to do a single thing. She added a few extra feet between her and the ground, gaining a decent perspective of the area around her. Lakeside was just as small as Maria had first seen it. Still, it seemed to be a somewhat pleasant place to stay at least.

"Hey, what's that thing?" asked Teddius as he scanned over a noticeboard, causing Maria hover beside the Normal-type.

She read over it for a few moments, but skipped most of the notice other than the first few words. "Explorers wanted? I guess that's why we've all been dragged over here, huh?" Maria muttered before reading over the whole piece of paper. "Well, I'm staying out of the springs..."

His leg suddenly ached him at the mention of corruption and wild Pokémon, making him cringe slightly; he managed to hide the pain for most of the time, and to further pretend nothing had happened, he started walking in the direction Layne pointed as being East.

"Then we're going." He said, facing the other way to hide his frown as the leg started to pain him even more. "If we catch the guy along the way, we'll take the ride. Otherwise, we'll press forward."

Chunk discreetly took the Oran Berry from the small beg on his leg and took a bite, putting it back in again. The pain slowly began to fade away, which allowed Chunk to turn and face Layne again, now with his standard, as if annoyed look:

"Get ready for some roughhousing. If that's as bad as they said it was..."

I'll just hope I can make it through.

Layne found it odd how his new partner was acting. As if he had something to......hide? Layne wouldn't go into it. But he was hoping if Chunk did have something to hide, it wouldn't hinder them while they were at work. Communication was key.

Sure, Layne had his own secrets. He had yet to tell Chunk about Autumn. Of course Chunk may have already known if he had perhaps overheard him and Pyro, but Layne wouldn't know. And he didn't feel like bringing it up. Simply thinking about the possibility of her being in trouble made Layne anxious.

Chunk came back over, after announcing they would attempt to find the guild on their own. Layne doubted they would catch the ride, minly because of the fact that it was still morning. He didn't know if this Bruno, even took the same routes they would attempt.

Chunk put what Layne supposed was a game face and said, "Get ready for some roughhousing. If that's as bad as they said it was..."
Layne popped his neck again. "I've been in this business for about three or so years now. And though I don't always enjoy a fight, it doesn't mean I don't know how to fight."

Lyane would have said to prepare for the moment, but from the look of this place, there wasn't much of a market here. There might have been one at the guild, but he wouldn't know. Another fact that came to Layne was the possibility of these markets perhaps not being common in this area. The land was newly discovered, and barely half a year known to them. The towns here could easily be just as small as this, or even smaller. There was no way to find out until those towns were found. They would have to keep in mind that whatever they found that could be considered useful to them in this land, that they should try and keep it with them. Berries, old tools, water, anything.

Layne looked back at Chunk, and beckoned to the front of town. "Shall we, then?"

"Have any of you noticed the various notes all around Lakeside? Something about a Bruno guy escorting us to the guild. And to answer your question, Alaska, if memory serves me well, then our mission is to investigate the Northern Lands. Apparently, they have been corrupted. It says so on the posters, I think," said Xell, looking around at everyone else. Alaska's face lit up and she looked at him. "Oh! Directions!" she exclaimed and then said to herself quietly, "We have directions…" She looked around and everyone. "Be back in a flash!" She darted out the tent and went in search of another poster. If she hadn't been too busy trying to make friends with that Bibarel, she would have seen them. If Alaska wanted to actually be worth something to her rescue team, she would need to do them a big favor-- not goof off. Life wasn't only for fun, it needed to be taken seriously. Alaska looked around for a poster. She noticed a Pikachu walking around. "Hello!" she waved at the Pikachu. Wait, I'm supposed to focus. Focus. Focus! If only everyone wasn't so interesting to meet. Alaska saw a poster fluttering, just barely attached to a tree. She ran to it and tore it off.

Explorers Wanted

Guildmaster Lucario is looking for Explorers who will help investigate the corruption of the Northern lands. Explorers must go to his guild, East of Lakeside for instructions.
Be wary. Silver Springs along the way has been corrupted, and is dangerous to any who drink it's water or bathe in it's shallows.
I will escort Explorer teams to the Guild twice a day. First escorts leave at 1, second leaves at 5. We meet at the Center of town a half hour before departure. Don't be late.

-Bruno

"Ohhhh!" said Alaska loudly to herself. "This explains a lot!" She darted back to the tent with the poster in hand. "Okay, I brought the poster. This should be of some sort of help!" Alaska held out the poster and shook it around.

Leigh was amused at how cheerful Alaska was compared to everyone else, especially after bringing the whole poster back to the tent. That attitude would be good for keeping up morale in her team. "Good timing" Leigh said, floating towards the poster to give it another read.

"There's all the info we need. Thanks."
He told Alaska. While Leigh and the others probably just got there, he wasn't aware of just how much time he might have wasted. "So... um... anyone know what time it is?"

Felicia looked up as Alaska came back with a poster "So... um... anyone know what time it is?" Leigh asked everyone. "I'm not sure the time but my suggestion is to head that way now...better to be early than late" she said standing and shaking a little dirt off her golden fur as she looked at her team.

Aren't we confident...? He thought as the Buizel popped his neck - a habit that seemed to have stuck, since it was the second or third time he'd done that in the short time they knew each other - and proudly gave away his experience, irradiating confidence.

Chunk did nothing but nod slightly at Layne, however, before making his way towards the town's entrance; in his mind, he was sighing in relief for knowing his leg had stopped paining him, and in the nick of time too. He didn't want to look incapacitated when in the heat of the battle.

The town was relatively small, so the thought of preparing himself didn't even cross his mind; besides, he had a bag with a berry, and that was just what he needed in case there was an emergency. An Oran Berry and everything would be fine.

-------------------------

The immediate exit of the town was just as empty as the immediate entrance, and the immediate thought in Chunk's mind was that the path would be just as smooth as it had been from the inside to the outside. There were lush fields ahead, followed by tall trees and a bright sun shining down upon them.

But it was all an illusion, it seemed - for dead ahead began the Springs.
He took a moment to stop and close his eyes before starting to let off a couple of sparkles, glowing for a split second before opening his eyes again.

"It's Charge." He explained; he didn't know if his partner had asked anything, but if he had, then he had his question answered. "Gonna need it if I want some power on me."

With that, he began walking again, taking his first steps into the area. He noticed the ground was starting to become soggier, and was starting to sink beneath his paws. This could only indicate he was getting too close to the springs' waters... and that wasn't a good sign.

"Careful out here." He said back.

"Yeah, but maybe they'll make some kind of announcement." Leigh replied to Felicia. It was early for all he knew. Looking at the sun, it most likely wasn't to close too noon yet. What Leigh needed was a way to kill some time quickly. Right now, he was bored out of his mind. Leigh really wanted to get moving. Then he thought of a rather fun idea that was bound to wake everyone up.

"Do you all have alot of experience at battling?" He asked the teams. "Seeing how we'll be fighting Pokemon with nothing but rage in their minds, we're bound to get into alot of battles... hmmhmmhmm..." Leigh said with a mischievous tone, hoping they knew what he was going to ask them.

"Yeah, but maybe they'll make some kind of announcement." Leigh replied to her. Felicia nodded knowing he was right they still had some time to spare. "Do you all have alot of experience at battling? Seeing how we'll be fighting Pokemon with nothing but rage in their minds, we're bound to get into alot of battles... hmmhmmhmm..." Leigh asked everyone his tone mysterious sounding.

"That's a good idea Leigh battling would be fun and a good way to pass time" Felicia said excitedly her excitement at this being excitement that only a Pokemon as young as her could have at things.

"Do you all have alot of experience at battling?" asked Leigh. "Seeing how we'll be fighting Pokemon with nothing but rage in their minds, we're bound to get into alot of battles... hmmhmmhmm..." Leigh said with a mischievous tone. Alaska dropped the poster. "You want to battle!" she exclaimed. "I have decent experience, nothing too wonderful. I'll battle! Battles are fun!" Whoa, I gotta calm down. Too darn hyper for my own good. Alaska took a deep breath and exhaled.

"Um...' Flare said with a small, akward clearing of his throat. "I'm not all that good with battles, to be honest...but I can use attacks! I know Rollout, Headsmash, Defense Curl, Um....." he said, tongue sticking out.
