PMD: Exploration and Corruption of the New Frontier (IC)(PG-13)

Leigh observed both of their tactics. Xell had polished his hide before battling, similar to Leigh's defensive tactic but Alaska rushed on in with Brick break. "Brick break..." He thought. "sheesh, I would have been screwed if she used that on me..." Leigh continued to focus on the battle, while attempting not to blink. More importantly he paied attention to Xell. If Leigh was going to battle him next, He wanted to know his tactics beforehand.

(Off to bed I go! Gnite!)

Alaska watched as the Pupitar fell and got up just as quickly. Xell glimmered and crashed into her with an Iron Head. Alaska rolled backward on the ground, and sprung up. She used agility to get better speed, and then lunged forward with an Ice Punch. If it weren't for her ability, Inner Focus, Iron Head would've caused her to flinch. That would have really given her a disadvantage.

(Good night!)

((OOC: Let's continue this tomorrow... I'm tired.))

The Ice Punch hit's Xell square in the chest, further lengthening the crack in his shell.

(Okay, I was gonna leave after one more post cause I'm tired now too xD )

Alaska cracked Xell's shell further, and without thinking, used brick break once more.

(OOC: I almost fainted of all the one-liners. >.<' Anyways, Team Helianthae needs to catch up with everyone, therefore we'll be the first team to reach the guild. Where's Bruno?!)

Maria read out the notice paper on the bulletin board. A Loudred by the name of Bruno was to pick them up at 1 and 5. The little bear raised his head and covered his eyes with a paw and noted the position of the sun. 1pm was just around the corner and if the both of them made it to the pickup stop, they would be able to catch up on time.

Another point in the notice nearly freaked him out, the Springs were contaminated with that Shadow plague thingy. Is it happening everywhere? First home, then on the way and now, Lakeside? Oh dear... "Well, I'm staying out of the springs..." The mid-air Hoppip remarked. The Teddiursa nodded back in return, totally concurring with his team leader's point. He would not...hold on, make that NEVER...want to encounter such weird Pokemon that were so savage. Remembering the raid on his village, the thought of his friends and neighbours shocked his mind. I wonder how's Pammi the Aipom, or even Roonz the Zigzagoon. I also miss Tedell and Teilursa. Teddius sighed before observing that the sun was at 15 degrees to the west. "It's coming to 1!!! Hurry Maria, we mustn't be late!!" The bear rushed his hand in front of the Hoppip's face and started scrambling towards the pickup point Bruno had stated.

(OOC: It's about time this motley crew became serious. xD)

OOC: (*cough* It's Heliantheae *cough*)

Teddius nodded back in response although his face was somewhat devoid of emotion. Still, it was clear that he agreed which was enough for Maria to send back a fleeting smile. The Teddiursa seemed to check the position of the sun, probably trying to guess what the time was so that the two of them wouldn't be late. But that wouldn't be keeping in the spirit of things now would it? The letter said either one o'clock or five, and it was just a little before one-pm if Maria was correct. She didn't even have to glance up to see the position of the sun, as the feeling of sunlight was almost constantly flowing through her body, it was easy to tell what angle it was at.

"It's coming to one!" yelled Teddius. "Hurry Maria, we mustn't be late!" he added, as the Little Bear Pokemon rushed past the Grass-type.

Maria took a moment to regain her balanced, and pivoted on the spot to watch the Teddiursa run for a moment. "Now I know how Rosy felt when I first joined..." she whispered under her breath. "Tally-ho!"

Rosy was Maria's common nickname for the Roserade which lead Maria's team previously. It wasn't her real name, but it had stuck to some extent and the Grass/Poison type had learnt that whenever Maria said "Rosy", it referred to her. It was rather fun at first, although had been used more often in a serious manner as time went by. Picking up some speed, Maria darted forward to catch up with Teddius. She didn't have legs (at least not ones she really used) to slow her down, and quickly caught up with her new partner in crime, and gently floated beside the Normal-type as he tried to sprint towards the pick-up location. Maria chuckled to herself and performed one or two flips to pass the time.

"Learn to fly, Teddius. It make things so~oo much easier..."

((OOC: Sorry, just couldn't find a better word for it xD))

"What is this...?!" He gasped when the lush grass faded into a dark material, one that disintigrated immediately upon touching it, turning into dust. All around him, the trees were dead - or seemed to be, judging from their dark color, as if a fire had consumed them. "Why is everything..."

"It's as if the land is dying..." He heard Layne say from behind. "I don't like this, but if we're near the spring, we're near the guild."

Chunk hesitated, turning to Layne for a moment before turning forward again.

"We've come here, we won't go back." He announced, preparing to take another step.

It was shortly after his paws touched the ground that he heard something in the wind. It was a low sound, no doubt, but his hearing range was higher, as was natural to his kind.
He also noticed Layne had stopped, and had started looking up in a rather slow motion.
Something was hissing right above them.

"We both heard it, then." He mumbled to himself, staring up and gasping upon seeing three Ariados, all of their skins darkened, just like everything around him. "Corrupted..."

"Think we should have waited at the camp?" He heard Layne chuckle. Chunk could've found it funny, but remained just as impassive as before, staring fixedly at the three Pokémon.

But just as he was about to say something, the Ariados came charging down, one of them targeting Chunk right off the bat by unleashing String Shot - which Chunk managed to dodge by doing Quick Attack - but being hit by Sonicboom, sending him rolling against a tree; the leafs all fell down, only to be carried away by the wind before turning into dust.

"Can't touch them... Can't catch them..." He muttered, getting back up immediately. "So I assume you have a plan."
But the Ariados just hissed back at him, charging in for Poison Sting, which Chunk again dodged with Quick Attack, leaving the Ariados to slam into the tree.

"What's up with these things?!"

Hacking up a lung from his own failed fire attack, he shook his head and spat out the nasty, burnt taste that lingered in his mouth, tongue sticking out as he scraped it off. "Crap, crap, crap..." he mumbled to himself. "Did not mean to do that...oh, where did she go?" He asked himself, looking around for her. Oh boy. could she use his own smog against him? He looked around, backing away slowly.

'Note to self...' he thougt to himself. 'Do not use fire attacks again any time soon...'

Leigh continued to relax as each of the groups battled each other. Alaska had been going all out with brick break, leaving cracks in Xell's Shell. Was this natural for a Pupitar, or was Alaska putting a bit more effort into her attacks? Over at the scene with Flare and Felecia, There was still a big cloud of smog. At this rate it was bound to attract unnecessary attention.

"What causes a pokemon to go corrupt anyways?"
He asked himself. It had to have been more complicated then some strange energy. Leigh himself was pseudo corrupt, but he hasn't gone mad yet. It was only a black spot on his gel, That's it. Maybe it was the protective properties of the gel that prevented the effects. It was a mystery that he had hoped to discover as he and his team looked to cure it.

He became curious of how much time had passed during the battle. It was a short one but time does fly easily in such cases. He steped out of the shade of the tree and faced north. His shadow was very short but slightly tilting to the right. It was about time for the escort to arrive. He may have already been there for all he knew. Still... He didn't want to interrupt the battle either. He concentrated and sent a long distance message to each of the pokemon. "It's past noon. Try not to overdo it everyone." He told them.

OOC: Just a little note, Diamond. I have stated before, that Bruno is a Hariyama. Now he can bring a loudred for the announcement, but yeah. lol Also guys, I know pokemon battle posts between users will be brief, but if we could please come up with more than one line, that would be awesome.
IC

Bruno grunted as the town came into view. Wasn't much of a town. But who could complain?

Bruno, a Hariyama, was one of the best fighters in the land, cunning, strong, and wasn't afraid to show it. He only knew of one who could out-spar him, and that was his guildmaster. The Lucario had one thing Bruno didnt have. Better speed. Yes, Bruno was fast, but to put it simply, his guildmaster was faster.

A Loudred walked by him at his side. Loudred rarely talked, but when he talked.....damn. Even Bruno could get a decent headache i he didn't have earplugs, or wasn't a good ten meters or so away. Whatever. It had a job to do, and so did Bruno. Escort any rescue teams that bothered coming to this camp town thing to the guild if they so wished.

It would be much easier than trying to attempt it on their own...

===============================================

Layne watched as the Ariados began their attack, charging first at Chunk, who was quick to dodge many attacks that came his way, other than a sonic boom that sent him against a tree. Layne was about to go help him up, but Chunk showed apparent stamina, as he practically leaped to his feet again in seconds.

"Can't touch them... Can't catch them..." he said, "So I assume you have a plan."

Layne was a bit surprised by the first statement. Yes, corrupt pokemon could...for lack of better term...corrupt other pokemon as well, but if the minds of the better guildmasters that help make this repelling aura didn't see combat in making this aura of theirs, Layne and Chunk might have just met their match.

NO! That couldn't be. Layne was confident at least that defending themselves from these corrput pokemon would at least protect them from their corruption. But these pokemon were at a definite advantage. Faster, stronger, but Layne could see they were more predictable in areas. He also heard that they were prone to use attacks based on power. Sure they'd still use attacks to lower certain traits in battle, but not as often.Though once again, this was based on what he simply heard. And the public, well aware of the issue, was prone to over-exaggerating these things.

One ariados made it's move on Layne, jumping forward for what Layne could only guess as an apparent attempt at constrict. Layne dove out of the way, only to be met by the other Ariados, who had fired Pin Missile. Layne barely protected his face from the attack as his left arm took the full blow of the attack, and the pain was unlike anything he had felt before.

One of the missiles had pierced the skin. and drew some blood. The good news was that Layne still felt himself. Which was a little comforting in the place that the aura just might be working.

A plan. There was only two things Layne could have thought of doing. Possibly fight their way out of this, or run. Each had it's disadvantages. The ariados were more in number, and more powerful, so if they fought, They needed to execute weaknesses, or critical areas. And a god amount of the attacks would need to be head on. They could ill afford too many shots that just hit these dead trees.

Running, though it sounded good, would also be a challenge. The Ariados were leaving little to no opening on where to run. He and Chunk also didn't know this land further than what they've seen. And the ariados didn't look like they were gonna let them escape, and if they did start running, God only knew what the corruption had done to enhance their speed.

Layne wiped the blood away from his arm like it was nothing. Adrenaline was starting to kick into his system, which briefly numbed any pain he felt.

"My plan? Survive." Layne said, as he readied his paws in a position which wold charge up a Water Pulse, to be fired at his will.

"...Survive." Was all Chunk could catch of what Layne had said as the Ariados came in for yet another attack, repeating the Poison Sting slam; he easily dodged it, however, and taking this advantage, took his chances and charged his fangs with electricity before powerfully bitting it on neck, hopefully with enough strength to leave it stunned for a while.

It seemed to work, albeit temporarily; as soon as Chunk's teeth were out of the Ariados's skin, the Pokémon turned quickly and successfully landed a Poison Sting, straight on Chunk's only undamaged leg, once again sending him rolling, this time nearly missing a tree; should he have missed it, he would have landed directly in the Silver Springs's contaminated waters.

Acknowledging this mishap, Chunk focused more energy as his body glew again and sparks flew off; with more electricity stored - and almost ignoring the pain that had now struck his front right leg from the poison, even more sparks started to fly into the air, Chunk ran towards the Ariados, which also dashed towards the Shinx with its sharp teeth ready.

But just when contact was almost made, Chunk switched attacks and jumped over the foe with Quick Attack, and using that speed, struck Ariados in the back with Spark - a risky move, but one he managed to pull off.
But the Ariados didn't give up! It instantly turned, its eyes seemingly burning in rage, building up Sonicboom.

"Damn it..." He cursed under his breath as the move hit him dead-on, once again flinging him in the air, this time even closer to the edge of the water. "You son of a Magikarp! You're trying to throw me into the water!"

The Ariados seemed to have sneered something at him right before raising its sharp horn in the air and sprinting against the tree after another failed attempt to hit Chunk with Poison Sting.

((OOC: What? You said we could make combo moves xD))

Felicia coughed as the smog surrounded them What was that...hmm, maybe just maybe I can use it against him she thought grateful for her other senses. She sniifed around in the smog still lightly coughing she found her way to right behind Flare she charged up another flame burst and sent it right at the Tepig.

Sadly, it would seem his smog would be his undoing. Looking up in surprise, the Flame Blast struck him dead on in the face, once more knocking him back and throwing him out of the smog cloud. He tumbled head over feet before he finall landed on his stomach, groaning.

"Ow...' He mumbled a little bit. Stupid fire attacks...He mumbled. He tried to stand up, but with her in the smog, and the fact she was able to hit him THROUGH the plume...well...

"I'm not gonna win this." he said, slumping over.

Felicia watched as he tumbled out of the smog and she fell to the ground in another coughing fit before she quickly exited the smog taking in a deep breath of clean air. "The smog was a nice move I didn't know a fire type could use that one" she said looking at Flare still ready in case he tried to attack.

"Well..." he said with a nervous look down to the ground. "To be really honest, I don't know Smog...I tried to use Ember at the least." A small sigh and he shifted uncomfortably. "The truth is...I can't do Fire Attacks." he winced a little bit. "My entire life I've tried, and I've never been able to even use an Ember attack."

Felicia read his lips as he talked. "Thats nothing to be embarrassed about Flare. Everyone has their challenges and things they can't do. If you'd like help learning fire attacks I'll teach you like my dad taught me, it takes a lot of patience to form your first flame"

OOC: Hey it's cool. It made sense, so I ain't gonna raise the roof about it or anything. Son of a Magikarp. Haven't heard that one before. lol. Cue the battle music (StarCraft fan)

Layne let loose his water pulse into one of the ariados, and hit it, but now faced the other Ariados coming in on him. Ariados tackled Layne to the ground, and pinned him there. Layne could barely see out of the corner of his eye, Chunk having his own struggle but was managing. Layne tried to move, but couldn't, and the Ariados was moving in. Layne let loose water gun as hard as he could, and managed to free himself, rolling underneath (somewhat) the ariados, before getting back to his feet.

The two Ariados came at Layne. He jumped over one, (or did somewhat) and managed to throw Ice Punch into the Ariados' back, before simply kicking the other one away a few inches.

Layne had been lucky. The one hit with ice punch slowed, and slowly froze in a block of ice. That made things perhaps a little easier, but that still left two angry Ariados in play. And one was dangerously close to throwing his partner in the corrupt waters.

Layne shoulda been paying attention to the ariados after him, because in what little time it took for Layne to see the situation his partner was in, another Pin Missile hit him in the back, full force, which brought him on all fours. One thing for sure was that these arados were also being repetitive with their attacks, which made them somewhat more predictable, but none the less dangerous.

Layne turned around to see string shot now enveloping his foot, rendering him trapped, sitting on the ground.

Yup, that was Ariados silk all right. It would take Layne time to free himself, but at least he wasn't defenseless. He fired another water pulse at the ariados, just praying things would pass soon...

((BRB. Time to go to pet store))

"Heh..." he gave her a litle smile, and a nod of his head. "I'd like that. But...' he kicked a small pebble at his feet. "You're gonna get really aggrivated. Not even my father, the best fire type in our village could teach me. I'm apparently a "lost cause" to him. So...I'm not sure I'm even capable of using them."

"I'm patient." Felicia said smiling at him "and the big thing is if you believe you can do it then you can thats what my dad told me and when i first made my first flame i believed I could"

Zeke was a little ticked off. he had flown over to a clearing in the forest where he hoped to fight Xell. Xell hadn't shown and now Zeke was getting furious. if Xell was gonna slack off like this during missions then he would be in for a speedy quick attack in the dupa (its a polish word).

Zeke jabbed his scythes into a tree and began climbing. he could of tried flying but he wasn't very good at gaining altitude. he mostly could hover and glide at high speeds. when he reached the top he noticed that some of the members of the group were still fighting. Zeke jumped along the canopy and leaned back on one of the branches watching as Xell got his Shell cracked by Alaska.

"meh he he" Zeke cackled "serves 'um right. now show iim (sounds like him but no h) wat chu can do!"
