PMD: Exploration and Corruption of the New Frontier (IC)(PG-13)

OOC: Due to the dropping of Arch and Diamond, Bruno will automatically be moved back to the Guild, unless you want him to run into your group or something. I will await your response before making a final decision. I will also soon post some information about the guild's npcs and stuff, like Bruno and Hirotaro.

IC
Hirotaro sat in meditation. He was trying to decipher what little clues the rescue teams that had already explored the region had brought back. All clues presented, seemed to point North. In the mountainous areas. The pokemon who were new here didn't always venture beyond the mountains. Hirotaro knew that there were two more centers out there, but he also knew one of them was local.

If the mountains held a vital clue as to the origin of this, then perhaps the corruption could be tracked to the source. He, along with other guildmasters of the world was beginning to receive dreams, dreams involving a pokemon he couldn't make out. Perhaps it was a different pokemon each dream, but it was definitely corrupt, and unless......well he never finished teh dream. Nor could he interpret dreams. He could only hope the exploration teams could figure out the mystery better than his old brain could.

Osha walked up to him, and gave a slight bow. "Sorry to disturb you, guildmaster, but I figured you would want to hear this."
"No, it's okay, young one." Hirotaro said, getting up. "What is it?"
"Well about an hour ago, two horribly beaten pokemon were taken in. The one who was still conscious, claimed they escaped an attack from corrupt pokemon."
Hirotaro sighed. He was grateful for the number of rescue teams that were involved here, but at the same time, it was almost astonishing how many kept coming in beaten to a pulp.
"Thank you Osha."
"Guildmaster, may I ask you something?"
"Go ahead."
Osha took a breath, and began. "Guildmaster, I have been a student here for two years, and I have always trusted you and Bruno's wisdom, and teaching. But since all this word on corruption and everything started, I have grown fearful."
"Fearful?"
"The way I see it, is if the exploration teams continue returning defeated, what's to say they won't bring corruption to the guild with whatever aura they may have been exposed to?"
"Osha, I feel your worry, and I know that sometimes doing so is a risk. However, it is our duty, not just as explorers, but pokemon to do what we can to help them through the hardships they already faced. And to help them face the future hardships they will face in their journey."
"If you say, so, guildmaster."
"Who were the pokemon that came, and where did they come from?"
Osha shrugged. "We don't know their names at the moment. They came from Lakeside. A buizel was carrying a shinx. Both were pretty beat, though the Shinx was the unconscious one. The buizel was lucky enough to have managed to stay conscious as long as he did."
"Thank you, Osha. I will see to them soon. Has Bruno returned yet from Lakeside?"
"Not to my knowledge, guildmaster."
"Thank you again, Osha. Off you go."

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Layne was lost in thought. His body was still battered, and anyone who saw, knew it. Layne wasn't dreaming anymore, he wasn't exactly unconscious either. He was aware of his surroundings, but his energy was no where near restored. All he could do was let it restore naturally.

He heard voices, and even felt a pat on his head at one point. He heard Chunk's voice say "Good going, Layne."

Layne heard it, crystal clear, but was not energized enough to acknowledge, or even open his eyes. All he managed to say in fact was... ".....mhmmm....."

He didn't even know why Chunk bothered saying good going. Did he need to compliment Layne on an action he did? Did he want to let Layne know he was grateful for something? Did he want Layne to know that he had done well? Or was it the opposite? Had Layne failed to do something and Chunk was just being sarcastic?

Or perhaps Layne had been dreaming all this time. Maybe Chunk was the one who was conscious, and Layne was maybe near the end of the line, and Chunk was just doing his best to comfort Layne and give him willpower to fight. He didn't feel that way, he just felt tired. So he didn't worry about it long at all....he just needed more energy.

"FAT?!" the Excadril shouted, looking down at his, admitedly, portly form. He frowned. Well, he knew he was a little on the big side, but they didn't need to remind him...

"Clown?!" The Heatmor shouted, taking a little bit more sensitive than his mole like partner. "I'll show you a clown! GET THEM!" Inhaling deeply, a huge blast of fire erupted from his mouth, forming into a Kanji Sign in a Fire Blast.

The Excadrill, on the other hand, leapt into the air and curled into his massive drill form, disappearing into the ground.

Felicia took a shaky breath and got a little bravery. She ran forward and used Flame Burst to Knock the flames back. "Good luck using fire attacks against a fire Pokemon" she taunted eyes narrowed. She had been reading these guys lips and didn't like them one bit. The problem was she had no idea where the other one went underground.

"Aaannnnddd that battle begins!" He yelled out cheerfully. Felecia took care of the Fire blast easily due to the similar typing. Less of a hassle for him at least. "Fancy. Kehehehe..." Retus noticed that the Excadrill dug into the ground. He didn't know where it would end up at, but he prepared for whatever attack was coming at him. "Spread out!" He commanded his group. Retus tried his best to feel any tremors in the ground below him, to hopefully track down the Excadrill. "Leigh, Felecia, Flare, Shade, You go for tube face" He told them, referring to heatmor. "The rest of us will go for the fatty.

Retus carefully stood still to see if he could feel anything in the ground below him. "Careful down there big guy. You'll cause an earthquake large enough to take down the whole pathway at this rate." He taunted, hoping the Excadrill would hear him. Retus loved taunting all of his enemys. Anger gets distracting if the opponent can't control it.

------------------

Leigh floated over to the Heatmor with Felecia and engaged in battle. Leigh quickly used light screen to put a protective shield in front of his nearby teammates. "Lets do this" He said to his team confidently. He quickly started off by using psycho shock on the Heatmor. As he did with Zeke, Leigh aimed to pierce through Heatmor's mind and damage him.

"FAT?!" the Excadrill shouted, looking down at his portly body. He frowned as the Heatmor shouted, "Clown?!" Alaska looked at them and raised her claws again, getting ready for their next move. "I'll show you a clown! GET THEM!" the Heatmor exclaimed angrily. He inhaled deeply and released a huge blast of fire from his mouth, forming a Kanji sign in a Fire Blast. The Excadrill leapt up and dug into the ground.

Alaska immediately used agility, running around the area so that she wouldn't get hit by the Excadrill's massive form. Felicia ran forward and stopped the Fire Blast with Flame Burst. "Good luck using fire attacks against a fire Pokémon," she taunted, eyes narrowed. "Aaannnnddd that battle begins!" Retus yelled out cheerfully. "Fancy. Kehehehe…" he said as Felicia easily stopped the burst of flames. "Spread out!" he commanded. "Leigh, Felicia, Flare, Shade, You go for tube face," he told them, referring to Heatmor. "The rest of us will go for the fatty."

Alaska zipped around and felt shaking underneath her. She quickly leapt out of the way and ran straight for the Heatmor, even though Retus didn't include her in his command. Alaska really didn't care if the Heatmor was a fire type. If she was quick enough, she could get an attack on him. She threw a Shadow Ball at the Heatmor's face to block his view, and then disappeared. She reappeared behind him and slashed at him from the shadows, using Faint Attack. "Lets do this," Alaska heard Leigh say as he used Psycho Shock on the Heatmor.

Flare grinned a little bit. Finally, some action! He rushed forward and leapt into a ball, curling up into a rollout attack and rushed to the Heatmor, kicking up the ground as he did.

The Heatmor, however, proved to be faster than he looked. He swung out and backhanded the little spinning pig away from him, knocking him off to the side and with a grunt. "Ow...' Flare moaned, rubbing his head and growling. "You stupid..." He rushed forward with a aheadbutt.

The Heatmor never got another chance to attack as he was suddenly blindsided by quite a few attacks. First the Psychoshot and the Shadowball struck him in the face, driving him back and into the claws of Alaska. With a snarl, he spun around, d eeply hurt at this point and inhaled deeply, preparing to cover her in fire, had Flare not run right into his side and distracted him a little bit longer.

The Excadrill could hear the Sableyes taunts, even underground, but he had to prevent from getting angry at them. With a growl, he leapt up into the air and uncurled into his mole like form. He used his weight and slammed down on the ground, causing a decent sized Earthquake attack. Soon as that was done, he used the breif distraction to dig some dirt with his claws and fling them as Retus.

Felicia's eyes narrowed more as she saw her teammate get hurt. "Word of advice, don't hurt my teammate!" she yelled angrily showing already how protective she is of Leigh and Flare as she smirked Heatmor looking him right in the eyes as she used attract one of her most powerful moves.

--------------------------------------
Shade growled running at the Excadrill launching a fierce Fury Swipes with her sharp claws.

Retus could feel a large earthquake coming from the ground below him. He stood on all fours doing his best too keep his balance. Little did he know that this was only a distraction, as a chunk of dirt was thrown right into Retus' face. There was a slight pain in his eyes due to the dirt, but the broken eye had been effected the most. "Keh...Sorry but we're kinda in a rush." Retus said. His hands began to glow a with a dark aura as he used Shadow hold on the Excadrill.

-------------------------

"look out!" Leigh yelled as he set up a light screen in front of Alaska. He used another psycho shock on the heatmor to do a bit more damage. This thing was not much of a fighter, and certainly no beedrill swarm. At least, That's what Leigh thought. For all he knew, The loony ant eatter could have more tricks up his sleeve. Though Leigh later noticed the Felecia had attempted using attract on the heatmor. "Hehehe... This will be fun to watch..." Leigh thought to himself.

The Heatmor turned to Alaska and inhaled as he prepared an attack of burning fire. Alaska started to create another Shadow Ball as a sort of block, but suddenly Leigh appeared in front of her. "Look out!" he yelled as he set up a Light Screen. He used Psycho Shock once more, and Felicia used Attract on the Heatmor. It occurred to Alaska that they were doing well against these new foes. They were large and bulky, and had tempers. Somehow, the Beedrill were more powerful. If they were not corrupt, were they turning corrupt? There had to be a reason for them fighting so well and resisting the teams' attacks. Alaska stopped the Shadow Ball and it disappeared.

She leapt up and used Iron Tail on the Heatmor, as if he weren't being hit with enough attacks to begin with. What are you going to do once you get there? a charming voice said in Alaska's mind. She landed on her feet and ran on all fours over to Felicia and stood by her in case the Heatmor was too "affectionate" after the Attract. The same voice that asked her the question laughed, as Alaska frowned. She softly smiled and turned to look at Retus. He was using Shadow Hold on the Excadrill. "We are going to be great rescue teams!" Alaska thought out loud.

A small group of three corrupted Carnivine quickly and excitedly appeared behind them, as if they were the room service of a hotel bringing a tasty meal. Alaska turned and looked at them. Oh geez. She lunged forward, and one of the Carnivine dawdled around. "Get serious!" another exclaimed to him, and wrapped Alaska up in a Vine Whip. Alaska extended her claws to cut the vines, but the Carnivine slammed her against the ground and raised her up again. "Aghh!" she shouted, more in anger than pain. The Carnivine repeatedly slammed her against the ground, until Alaska finally managed to slash at the vines and free herself. She ran forward again and punched the Carnivine in the face with a fist of ice. The Carnivine again tried a Vine Whip, but Alaska leapt out of the way. This couldn't have occurred at a different time?

OOC: FIrst of all, over 300 posts so far, and closing in on 400. Thanks again for everything! Story's going out good, and it's making me think harder of possible plot areas (don't forget that you guys are welcome to PM me plot ideas if you want). Also D. I'll let you wake your character up. I honestly got no clue how to progress with us at the moment.

Hirotaro wandered his guild, when Bruno came up to him. He had returned from Lakeside not too long ago, but had a concerned look on his face. "Guildmaster, a word, please?"

Hirotaro noded, and said, "What's the matter?"

Bruno had been Hirotaro's friend for a long time, so tone in Bruno's voice didn't sound serious, but it sounded as if something needed attention.

"Not too far from here, there is commotion in the forest. It's been going on for a while now, and I'm starting to get concerned."
"What do you think it is? Travellers? An exploration team?"
"If it is an exploration team, and they got attacked, I'm going to wonder why they didn't wait for the escort."
"Bruno, there's no need to question their motives. Just go investigate, and see if everything is okay."
"Yes, guildmaster." And Bruno was off.

Hirotaro sighed and was about to resume, when a Buizel came out of a room, rather slowly. The Buizel, was rather beat. It showed in his skin. He was bruised in certian areas which missed some fur, and his left arm, had a rather nasty looking scar. Chances were, since he hadn't seen another Buizel here for a while since.....what was her name? She had been here once.

The Buizel looked at Hirotaro, and Hirotaro met his gaze. "You came from the Springs, didn't you...?"
The Buizel sighed and nodded. "Yeah."
"I was told you and another had come."
"Chunk. He had a rough time."
"You well aqcuainted with this...Chunk?"
"To be honest, that was our first outing together. I think we're lucky we got out as we did."
"Perhaps so. It must have been very hard to have come in your shape."
"Don't remind me." the Buizel said. He obviously didn't like looking back on it.
Hiro taro chuckled, and asked, "Do you have a name?"
"Layne." The Buizel said.
"Layne, did you know the risks of coming here?" Hirotaro asked. He was hoping Layne wasn't going home or thinking of quitting.
"Was well aware of them before I even came here. I have reasons for staying here." he said.
Hirotaro wasn't expecting an answer like that. "What do you mean?"
"My friends came up here a couple weeks ago. My only guess is they got ambushed, because one is on his way home now, and the other is missing, and I am determined to find her, if it's the last thing I do."
"Who is it you are looking for?" Hirotaro asked.
"A Buizel named Autumn. She is my friend, and-"
Autumn was her name! That was the other Buizel. And at the mention of her name, Hirotaro's eyes almost widened. Not just because of shock, but of surprise. Had Autumn fallen? She and her partner Pyro both came from Wigglytuff's Guild in Treasure Town, and both had excellent reputation as explorers.
"You know Autumn?" Hirotaro asked?
Layne popped his neck, and crossed his arms, his left arm revealed the nasty scar once again. "I should say I do. Me and her can be more than just partners."
"She came to this guild with her partner a couple weeks ago as well."
"THen you've seen her?" Layne asked a bit excited.
Hirotaro shook his head, "I haven't seen them since they went north. I had no word of their status since."
Layne was silent, before looking out a window to the northern mountains. Layne then began to walk away.
"Where are you going?" Hirotaro asked.
"I'm not going anywhere right now." Layne said, "But when my partner's ready, we're going to go north, and I'm going to find her." After Layne said this, he was gone.

Hirotaro could only sigh. He was dedicated, but he was worried if there was some weakness in his devotion as well...

((OOC: Well, at least you gave me something to start xD))

Voices slowly started to resonate in his mind. Or were they real? He couldn't tell right now, given the anesthetic state he was in. He knew that if he tried to move a single muscle on his leg, he'd just fail to even feel it.

And yet he tried.

But wait! He felt it now! The warm straw just beneath him, the breeze coming from the windows and stinging him on the leg like ice; so maybe - just maybe - the voices were also real.

With some effort, Chunk opened his eyes and tried to get up. He failed at first, but after a second try, he was up on his feet.

"Who is it you are looking for?" Someone suddenly said outside his room. Chunk felt tempted to answer 'My parents', but remained quiet. He knew the question wasn't directed at him, otherwise he could only be dreaming.

"A Buizel named Autumn. She is my friend, and-" Layne's voice also came up, only to trail off as he continued after the comma. There was a moment of silence, and Chunk took it to drag himself to the entrance.

"You know Autumn?" The first voice asked, now closer.

More than just partners; Chunk hadn't had the mindset to ask Layne about it, but he hadn't known the reason why the Buizel was on an Exploration Team at all. And there it was. He was looking for someone, just like Chunk. A new kind of respect was starting to appear in his mind - the one of someone who has a common purpose.

"But when my partner's ready, we're going to go north, and I'm going to find her." And with that, he could only hear the footsteps farther away, possibly Layne walking away. The other person's sigh was the sign to walk in.

"Good morning..." He greeted Hirotaro before turning to the window to check for the time. "...or whatever time it is."

"It is approximately 3:20 in the afternoon." Hirotaro said. "You have been out for about 2 hours. You and your partner are rather lucky to be here."

Hirotaro sat across from the Shinx on a bed. "I must also say, you are lucky to have a partner who is as strong-willed as Layne. Let's just hope he remains to be that way."

That last part was more of a joke, but with some seriousness as well. Then he realized. "I only know you from the name your partner gave, though Chunk doesn't sound like a birth name. Do you have one?"

The Figure from the shadow sighed a little bit and shook his head. God, these idiots were going to get themselves killed. As the heatmor grunted after he was struck blow after blow, eventually falling to his knees and on his gut, his eyes replaced with swirly eyes, Excadril eventually fell before Retus as well.

"Well...' he sighed a little bit. "I suppose if you want something done rght...' he rose up. "Don't send idiots to do it."

And so the figure leapt from the shadows and landed on the path. "Heatmor. Excadril. Stand down, both of you."

The figure was a Zangoose, with a few changes. The red zigzags the species was known for were more chaotic and splattered, almost like blood. There was a hideous looking scar running down his face, and hi eyes...his eyes held pure malice. his claws were curling up a little, making "Shink" sounds as they scraped together.

"I'll take it from here."

"Oh thank Arceus, the boss," The Excadril grinned. "You guys are in for it now."

Retus walked slowly over to the excadrill who was trapped from his Shadow hold. "Kehehe... Trapped. So how should I finish you off? A nice shadow claw to the face? " He said sinisterly. Before he had the chance to do so, A zangoose had appeared from the shadows. The Heatmor and Excadrill claimed him as their leader. "Hmm..." He thought as he released Excadrill from shadow hold. This Zangoose actually looked like he could fight, unlike the other two. The scar running down his face shows that he's had a fair share of battles before. "So, Your in charge of these grunts are ya? Hope your skill in battle isn't as pathetic as theirs." He taunted. He looked over to Alaska who was having trouble with some corrupted Carnivine. He would have helped, But this Zangoose seemed like more of a threat somehow. Retus decided to keep his eyes on him.

-------
The courrupted substance swirled around leigh like a small liquid as the corrupted Carnivine got close. It eventually bubbled uncontrollably for a bit...As if it reacted to them. "Stay put you..." He thought as if he were talking to the corrupted substance. He wondered if he would even be let into the guild like this. For all he knew, He was a walking time bomb. Nonetheless, Alaska was having a disadvantage against the corrupt Carnivine. "Need some help over there?" He asked alaska as he used Psycho shock on one of the Carnivine. As he moved closer, The corrupt substance bubbled up more. It wasn't effecting Leigh's abilities, but he still grew cautious.

"It's later than I imagined..." He muttered to himself, watching the Lucario sit on a bed and commend Layne for his qualities. "Indeed." He answered, ignoring the joke.

"I only know you from the name your partner gave, though Chunk doesn't sound like a birth name. Do you have one?" The Lucario then said, catching Chunk completely by surprise.

He stood for a moment; it had been quite some time since he called himself by his real name, and he actually doubted if he remembered it correctly.

"It's... Vis..." He slowly answered, turning away. "It means 'Energy' or 'Power' in an ancient language." He paused for a moment before sighing, "I suppose my father wanted me to remain the ruler of our tribe."

((OOC: Check the name in Latin xD))

OOC: Let's see how well I play with Aura.

"Hmm." Hirotaro said. He saw out he window, Bruno, taking a few of his students to the area of commotion. He saw Osha and Anthony, who were both excellent apprentaces at the guild, and and both good at the art of battle. His thoughts drifted back to Shinx, who had just spoken of his father. Lucario closed his eyes as if in meditation.

"Your thoughts for your family are rather strong." Hirotaro said. "You also seem dedicated to finding someone."

Hirotaro stood up. He wouldn't go into it. Sometimes others thoughts were meant to be private, and Hirotaro did his best to respect privacy. "There is a spring down below, which eases pain in the body quite well. If you're up to it, you might find your way down there..."

The Carnivine opened its large mouth and began to drool. "Ew," Alaska said in disgust. She sniffed the air. It smelled like sweet honey. Alaska realized the irresistible smell was coming from the Carnivine's drool. "I'm not falling for that," she said, covering her nose so that she wouldn't give in to the smell. The commotion diminished as the other Pokémon stopped fighting, but Alaska took no notice. Another Carnivine used Stockpile, charging up power. Alaska ran forward and slashed at the Carnivine with Metal Claw. The third Carnivine that hadn't been doing anything before used Faint Attack, hitting Alaska backward but not doing much damage. Alaska tossed some Shadow Balls at them and used Agility, hoping that they wouldn't try to use Vine Whip again. She didn't know how long she could hold these three off.

Leigh rushed on over to help out Alaska with the Carnivine, Using psyshock on the Carnivine that had been drooling. "One against three? Thats real fair..." Leigh muttered out loud. The closer he got to the courrupt pokemon, The more his corrupt substance continued to bubble. He still hoped it wouldn't effect him in the long run.

"So... any ideas on how to deal with these things?"
He whispered to Alaska. Before he could even wait for a response, one of the Carnivine got a grip on Leigh with Vine whip and began to slam him repeatedly against one of the dieing trees. "Gah..Oof!" He yelled in pain as he was being smashed into the tree face first. The grip was extremely tight, making it difficult for leigh to slip out. He tried to get a good shot at the Carnivine with psycho shock but had alot of trouble aiming while being slammed around so much.

-------------------------

Retus walked slowly over to the Zangoose. "Kehehe... So whats your story?" Retus asked him as he sharpened his own claws. "If ya don't want to end up like your grunts, then you'd best be on your way." Retus threatened.

The Zangoose stared down at the approaching Sableye. He lifted up both of his claws, which began to glow a bright green color. "You obviously don't know of my history, do you little one?" he chuckled a little bit, approaching him just as quickly. "If you do not wish for me to be the final thing you see, I suggest you back away, now."

He lifted up one of his glowing claws. "Because I will warn you, this won't end well for you."

(btw, Me and Michael just got the a-ok from Lillinia to bunny her character until her ban is lifted. just letting ya all know.)
-------
Felecia stared at the Zangoose, who's claws began glowing a bright green color. It was as if a sense of fear was emitting from his presence. She shook a little just looking at his eyes. They were extremely cold... She backed away near Flare, afraid to stand up against him.

----------------
Retus's claws began to glow a dark aura, even more then they had before. He wasn't about to be intimidated. With that cold stare, Retus could tell he would be a good canidate for a corrupt pokemon. There were too many eyes watching him though. Summoning a horde of corrupt pokemon would break his cover. Retus' best bet was to act like the big hero.

"Heh. Telling me to back off? Last time I checked, Your little gang was the one that wanted to start a fight. If anyone should be backing away, its you." He glared back at the Zangoose while adjusting his wristbands. Retus's eyes glowed pitch black for a split second. "You obviously don't know my history either. This new land has had more wrongs then I could count."

Retus went on all fours and prepared for his first attack. "...Think fast!" Retus zipped behind the Zangoose and attempted to use shadow claw from behind.
