    Knock-offs

How do you feel about Pokemon knock-offs? While not high in quality generally, these tend to be cheaper and often have lots of lasting value just to laugh at. But when it comes to things such as games, more often than not you're ripped off. Are these terrible for the Pokemon franchise, are you indifferent to them, or do you like the cheap alternatives? Do you own any knock-off merchandise?

I must admit I'm kind of supremely apathetic to them. I've not encountered any of them here, so they don't make an impression on me. On principle, though, I of course disapprove, though I don't see what harm they do. Nobody's going to spend a huge amount of money on them that would then be denied to Nintendo, for sure. /optimism

Personally, I'm not really fond of knock-off Pokemon merchandise because they don't look as good as the "official" merchandise.

I don't care for knock offs since most of the time it seems like they aren't on par with the items they are trying to knock off. And on top of that it is illegal so I really wouldn't condone it or knowingly buy a knock off item. If I wanted to play a non-Official game I wouldn't buy it I would just download ROM hacks.

I believe I bought a Pokemon Yellow ROM by mistake when on holiday in Spain, thinking it was the real deal. In my defence, I was only 10, but looking back it was a grave error on my part. For one, Yellow was part of a series of 10 games on the cartridge (8 of which didn't load and the other one being some Wario rip-off that lasted for two levels). It was quite a distressing experience for the 10-year-old me. I guess because of that incident I haven't been that receptive to knock-off Poke-projects, however well-intentioned.

Well, it just someone's desperate attempt to get hold of their nonexistant favorite character merchandise because Nintendo too busy and doesn;t even care to make any pokemon merchandise that is really not pokemon themselves. Some times, I'm too, dreaming to get myself a Red Figma or Bianca Nendoroid.

Officer Jenny has huge feet. You know what they say about a girl with big feet...

I find Pokemon knock-offs hilarious. I bought a GBC Cartridge off my friend that had Pokemon Jade and Diamond on it, and they were quite honestly the worst games I have ever played in my life. Never mind the Fakemon and the obviously terrible mapping... there was no way you could advance in the game whatsoever. It just... there was nowhere you could go. I think when people try to pull off something that half-baked it deserves to be laughed at lol.

Besides, they say imitation is the best form of flattery, don't they?

When I went to Bali I got Pokemon Jade and Diamond. It was so bad, I played it, I came to a point where I went around in circles. I've never really been a fan of fakemon either. I don't know why, it's just none of them appeal to me anywhere near any legitimate Pokemon do. And omg the knock-off merchandise. They are such garbage, it's funny. You get stuff like red Beedrill and stuff.

Haha, I remember when I first saw that picture (of the figurines). Good old trsrockin... 'Thunderlegs' indeed.

I wouldn't buy stuff like fake figurines if they don't at least look decent, I suppose. As for stuff that I own that is a knock-off, I have a fake 'Pokemon Diamond' that's really just an ngrish translation of a game called Telefang (got it as a 2-in-1 game pak with the real Pokemon Crystal rom as the other game). Much fun was had playing a confusing game with electric monsters and mentions of curry. XD

IDK if you got the real deal (lol, 'real deal' with a fake game) as there are other versions of Jade/Diamond that are even worse, but the 'Fakemon' are official creatures of a different game series that was Japan only (and had a sequel) and I can attest that even the engrish version is beatable - did so myself and doing so again in my LP. =p (Not that it's a *good* game, just...entertaining.) Basically Pokemon Jade/Diamond are just (very) engrish translations of a completely different series and claimed as Pokemon to attract hopeful sales.
