[Prometheus]

Heres my entry.

This is hell.​

In the fire I moaned
Like I did when the cops phoned
Evil laughter fills the cave
Evil monsters jumping like a rave

Now this my fine
For commiting a crime
Shake with fear
But don't spill your beer

Evil eye's mocked me
In a river of red sea
The lord himself a choir
He knew I wasn't a good liar

So don't kill
Its an un-payable bill
No mercy is shown
Your heart is cruely thrown....

There has been some setbacks in the judging process, which explains the delay.
But we finally decided on a winner!
This week was quite tricky to judge, for you all made excellent entries, but the decision has been made.

Our winner for this week's contest is JX Valentine's Sprout.

Sprout

There is a seed
in a pot
by a window
in a room
with a bed
in which lies
a little girl
who has been there
for three months,
and the seed
hasn't sprouted
in two,
and the nurses
all give her
sympathetic eyes
because they know
this number
equals five
which is one less
than the number
the doctors gave
to the little girl
and her mother
the morning after
the results
of her blood screening
came back,
and her mother cries
by her bed
in the hours
before she goes to work
while her daughter
is asleep,
dreaming
of the snowy night
when she and her mother
went out and made
snow angels.

Every morning
as soon as she wakes up
the girl pulls the pot
in her lap
and bends over it
(She once had long hair
that would fall around the pot,
but she doesn't anymore.
It fell out.)
and whispers to it
"grow grow grow"
even though
the seed doesn't sprout
and hasn't sprouted
for two months,
then three,
then four.

One morning
the doctors said
there was nothing more
they could do,
so they let
the girl's mother decide,
and she took her daughter
back home
to the apartment
overlooking
that same park
where they made snow angels
one cold night,
and over a cup of coffee
that same morning
the mother remembered
that night:
how cold it was
how much her baby's smile
glowed
in the light
of streetlamps,
how pink she looked
and how she coughed up blood
the next morning.

Every morning
for the next few days
as soon as she wakes up
the girl pulls the pot
in her lap
and bends over it
(She used to do this voluntarily,
but now it's the only way
she can sit up.)
and whispers to it
"grow grow grow"
until she can't.

The morning she doesn't
the mother cries
by her bed
and decides
not to come in
to work that day
or any other day
for a long time.

Two weeks
after the girl--
her mother's
only baby
by a father
who hasn't been around
since before she was born--
is dressed
and viewed
and cried over
and buried,
the mother realizes
that she hasn't been
in that room
for awhile,
(and how could she
after losing
her baby
and the smile
that glowed
in streetlamps
and gave her
reasons,
so many reasons,
to go to work
every morning?)
so she goes
and unlocks the door
and steps inside
to see the pot
by the window.

There was a seed
in a pot
by a window
in a room
with a bed
in which once lay
a little girl
who had been sick
for a very long time,
but now,
in the pot
poking out
of the soil
which hasn't touched water
since the girl
stopped telling it to grow
is a tiny,
green
sprout.

Memory (of Destruction)
A man walked in a marred house to see
What relics from the past he could find.
A woman comes to him with a face of glee,
And an old man sits on a chair with composure kind.

The young man blinks and sees once more
The decrepit house burned down long ago,
But then he sees a little girl he once did adore,
In her hair a bright blue bow.

He walks through the house alone,
Mesmerized by the site of what it once was,
This was once what he called home,
But a fire had reduced it to dust.

[Fearless Love]

Alright, I have my entry ready.
This poem is very personal, for I wrote it about my sister.

Burned​

Bit by bit
Sinking in.
The memory slips,
So what remains?
A shattered picture in a frame?
Faces blanked from time and haze.​

Fire lit
Warm and snug.
Fire goes out
on the run.
Rain like acid on the skin
This next is my sin.​

Took the first step out the door
To this place I belonged no more
When demons caught up to my light
Shackles and chains I could not fight.
For them I would always belong
Hoping I had not been wrong.​

Dry eyes
Tears run out.
In this river
Full of drought.
I could no longer return
because the memory of home
Had been burned.​

Been awhile, hasn't it? Anyway, I'd like to enter with this poem ^_^ It's another free-form, and I think it's one of my best.

Where is Home?

I live in a house,
But my parents are never there.
There are many bedrooms,
But as for siblings, I have none.
I don't have any friends;
This neighborhood is too bad for them.
My supposed home is darkness-
It's only my jail cell.
I haven't seen someone my age
Since when I was just a child.
But, wait- isn't home supposed to be
Where your heart is in it?
I think I know where my heart is-
It's in Pokemon.

Still a shorter one- but what the heck?
