    PokéCommunity UHC
    A User-Hosted Minecraft Event

Welcome to the PokéCommunity Ultra-Hardcore Event!

The PokéCommunity UHC is a game that involves up to four teams of players, who each fight to be the last team standing in an arena which slowly decreases in size. Health doesn't regenerate, and mobs deal the most damage possible, providing extra obstacles to your survival. Of course to compliment this, there are a few extra rules to ensure the game doesn't become extremely slow paced. Whether you are a player who likes to build, or a player who likes to fight, UHC is its own unique experience and a great way to take a break from regular Minecraft and enjoy something a little more fast-paced. The aim of this event is to be a regular event with small unique changes each time to make the game new and different each time we play.

For those new to UHC, this is how the game works:
Players are split between up to four teams, and then spread around the world in their teams. The world size is 2000x2000 blocks, and over the course of the game this will decrease in size to 200x200 blocks, centered around 0,0 (x,z). The difficulty is locked to hardest, and you and your team must strive to be the last team standing. This isn't just a simple brawl, you must also survive against the mobs and other natural dangers, all of which deal the most damage possible. At the end of the game, the remaining players will be trapped in the 200x200 arena and will fight to the death. For this version of the UHC there are a few rules and details that some other UHC servers don't implement. These are:
    • The border will decrease in size over two hours.
    • Regeneration is only allowed via the use of Golden or Enchanted Apples.
    • Instant Health, Regeneration and Strength II potions are not allowed.
    • Strip Mining is also not allowed. (This is where you mine in one direction only)

To join the game, I will need to add you to the whitelist the server uses. You will also need some form of voice chat in order to communicate with your team throughout the game and to make setting up really easy and fluid. Without this, your game experience will be decreased a fair amount. Which voice chat service we use is still down to determination. To sign up for now, please put your Minecraft in-game name in your post so I may add you to the white list.

Other than that, that's all from me! The server IP is:

    78.52.249.194
    on port 25565

I'm hella up for UHC. my IGN is AU486.

May I ask why Instant Health is banned? I'm mostly indifferent to whether it is or not but I'd like to know why.

I think Discord would be ideal for a large group scale event like a UHC, what with how easy it is to make multiple voice chat channels within the same overall group chat, so each team can have their own chat without having to make a new group chat for each team like you have to in Skype. I have no experience with Teamspeak so I can't say much for that other than I don't have much interest in using it.

also does this mean #teamhomestuck reunited

    YES

    _nina is my ign now.

I agree that discord might be interesting. I just know the game is more fun when talking to everyone, but usually you want to be able to be secretive sometimes. Being able to bounce in between a bigger group chat might be fun?

But! I've only been in two UHC and I've never used discord like that, so I have no idea about the possible hiccups. Same with Ellie, no experience using teamspeak.

The potions I banned I did so because in a UHC environment, these potions are extremely powerful, and all but guarantee a win for the team using them, and rarely does more than one team actually get to make potions. Personally, with what is usually available in a UHC, health potions are a bit overpowered, and so I decided I'd try running these without them.

I've not used discord, but it sounds very similar to what I already have prepared in Teamspeak. Teamspeak allows multiple channels for teams, which I have already made. All you would need to do is join my server and join the channel once the game starts. However if more people want to use discord than teamspeak, I'm more than willing to set something similar up through that.

Well there's no solid date as of yet, but I did want to try and get these as close to regular as possible. I was thinking monthly, perhaps every other month if that is too much (which it very well might be) As for a first date, I don't want it to be too soon, as I want to try and get as many people as possible, but I'd like the first game to be this month at some point. I was mainly going to aim for weekends, leaving us with three more this month to choose from:

    -Friday 15th / Saturday 16th

    -Friday 22nd / Saturday 23rd

    -Friday 29th / Saturday 30th

Of course, other dates are an option, but I figured days/evenings when people wouldn't be stuck having to get up for work school the next day would be best. The other thing is times, and these are the trickiest to sort out. Bearing in mind that the UHC will run for 2 hours not including organisational stuff such as connecting, sorting teams and reviewing rules etc. when would you guys most like to play?

I'm going to go ahead and put in my conditional Yes to be in. However this logistically depends on the date; and the 15th is probably going to be the most optimal time for me to play. However this also depends on the time of day too; so don't count on me being there if the time of day is too odd for me. If you hear nothing else from me after date and time is set in stone assume I'm out due to logistical reasons. Likely I'll be able to be present on Skype/TS/Discord if necessary to hear instructions but my microphone is likely to be muted unless it's a push-to-talk configuration. (Not sure if this is possible with teamspeak/discord)

Additional note: I'm a bit weak at PVP so this is a fun-run for me. Don't partner anyone serious with me unless they're OK at that and can cover my back. Ideally I'll have Bubblun as my partner if he's going to be available. I don't know yet; I'll have to speak to him.

I would be cool with Saturdays rather than Fridays, but anytime of day is pretty much fine for me.
(as for actual date it doesn't matter too much, but obv. i'm excited already and want to do it sooner.)

We do get to pick our teams, yes?

For this first UHC yeah. Youll get on the server, teams will be organised at the press of a button, and when youre ready to play youll press another and the game will start when everyone is ready. Depending on the amount of players, teams could range between 2 to 4 players, but if enough players want in (>16) then Ill need to add some more teams in.

So if people want sooner rather than later shall we try the 15th? If people are super against the Friday then Ill say the 16th.

As for times, I know the large majority or possible players would be American but right now we have two. Two from Europe and one player from NZ. Talk about split up XD I want to say well start at midnight CEST but really I personally would prefer earlier on. Closer to 21:00 CEST. However if that is a problem for others say so, and Ill do my best to find the time the majority can agree on.

Similar to Melody, date/time is definitely a factor for me. Depending on that, I'm a potential yes.

Well Ive suggested dates and asked people about what times would be best for them on the best date. So you need to tell me whats good for you. Im not psychic XD

15/16 works for me and 21:00 CEST I think is 2:00pm my time, so I think it'll work!

Alrighty, I'm going to put forward a date and time since not many are replying and the week people want to play is moving along:

    First Proposed Date and Time
    Friday 15th April @21:00 CEST

If you are okay with this like the post if not then please quote this post with your own suggestion as to when would be better.

Did we figure out what kind of chat client we wanted?
You said you were gonna have a TeamSpeak thing, which I guess is fine. :0 Is there any kind of pre-setup information we should know if we're new to it?

We can use Discord if everyone has it. I have a UHC Discord group set up, but Teamspeak is a lot less cluttered and is more subtle. If we use Teamspeak Ill post the server here and all you need to do is connect to it. Then there is no hassle with invites or usernames or whatever.
