"This place is as good as any." said a bored Layla and rolled her eyes once more at the girl's raging on. "Let's go, Treecko, it's time to battle!" the woman went on but, just as her Pokémon reaffirmed its battle position, a weird sound came from her Poketch and the holographic screen displayed a flashing exclamation mark. Strangely enough, Layla's Poketch wasn't the only one beeping weirdly. Everyone else's device was making the same annoying voice. The woman reluctantly pressed the exclamation mark and Oakley's annoying voice rang from inside the device:

"Looks like your time is up for the day! Sorry if this feels uncomfortable, time to log out."

Oakley's message was soon followed by the words "FORCE LOG OFF| CONFIRM" popping up on the screen. Layla looked around the Pokémon Centre one more time before her head started getting heavy and the room started spinning. Soon enough, everything went black and, a few moments later, the woman could feel she had the headset on. The whole place had a different feel to it. She soon realized she was back in the real world, in her cell-like room.

Taking the headset off, Layla blinked a few times, to adjust her eyes to the annoying lights then looked around her. The room looked a lot like it did when she first found herself in it, the only difference being that it now had a large, metal door. The screen showed that he time was 10:00 pm. The woman was amazed at the fact that the game lasted the entire day, despite it feeling more lik a couple of hours. She got up from the floor, stretched a little then headed towards her bed, planning to lie down. To her surprise, she spotted something gray on her pillow. Taking a closer look, she realized it was the stuffed toy she received from her mother as a kid, a small, gray kitty with seemingly glowing blue eyes.

"This is ridiculous!" Layla yelled as her eyes swell up with tears. "JUST WHO ARE YOU PEOPLE?" she screamed, breaking down for the first time since she was brought here.

The woman immediately rushed towards the door, her precious toy in her hand. To her surprise, it was unlocked and lighter than she thought a metal door would be. She emerged into a hallway. On one side, lined up, there were several other metal doors, to the cells of the other gamers, Layla assumed. One of them seemed to be cracked open. Across from the cells, Layla could see what looked like the entrance to a large room. She curiously tiptoed in that direction, holding her little kitty toy close. The doors to the room in question were wide open so the woman peeked inside to see that it was nothing but a lounge. A bunch of sofas were placed around a small table that had all sorts of snacks on it. Layla shrugged and cautiously walked towards one of the sofas, expecting some sort of alarm to start ringing any minute. But nothing of the sorts happened, so the woman simply sat on the nearest sofa, as far away from the door as possible.

The silence was eerie and there was absolutely no movement. The same kind of annoying bright lights were flickering above Layla's head. The walls of this room also seemed to be made of massive concrete. Despite not being much of a people person, for the first time, being all alone bothered Layla. Unable to hold all of her fears and feelings in any longer, the woman hugged her toy tight and burst into tears. She just wanted to go home.

Jerrod Parker
Route 1

After a little time passed, Jerrod was able to level his pokemon up to level 7, each learning a new move to use. Rosemary learned Leech Seed, while Jerry learned Focus Energy. He was getting into the rhythm more and more, but the fun had to stop when his Poketch made a funny noise. Jerrod looked down and saw a notification from Oakley. "Looks like your time is up for the day," her voice emanating from the device, "Sorry if this feels uncomfortable, time to log out." Immediately the words FORCE LOG OFF | CONFIRM were printed on the screen. When it did so, he instantly became so dizzy and his vision went to black. It sorta seemed like the world shut off like a computer monitor.

The next thing he knew, he felt the slight weight of the visor on his head. He took the device off and rubbed his eyes, allowing himself to readjust to where he was. Though he was in the same room, it seemed to be slightly more decorated in here. Or was it just a trick on his eyes? A small box on his bed with his name on it drew his attention. He slowly approached the box, not sure of what could be inside. "Should I open it?", he thought for a minute. Finally succumbing to the temptation, he opened the box to a sight that shocked him to no end. Inside were a set of pencils and a sketch pad with his name scribbled hurriedly on the cover, along with a few basic random shapes. It was his sketch pad, a gift from his parents on his last birthday with them. He remembered showing his parents his drawings and responding with praise and acknowledgement. When he got older, he stopped drawing in order to help out more around his grandmother's house. Flipping through the first few pages, every picture brought back memories of his childhood and how much he missed his folks. There were very many pages that were still blank. He smiled and grabbed the pencils and looked up at the screen. 10pm already? Time sure does fly!

The next thing Jerrod noticed was the metal door that wasn't there before. He was curious where it led and cautiously walked up to it. Pushing on the door, he learned that not only was it unlocked but it didn't feel like a metal door. He opened the door to find only another room with a few couches and a table lined with snacks. He slowly entered, noticing there was another person in here. She was sitting on a couch holding a stuffed toy close to her. Staying kinda quiet, he slid over to an unoccupied couch and grabbed a small bunch of grapes. He sat them on his lap as he flipped open his sketchbook and grabbed one of the well-sharpened pencils. He immediately knew what he'd start off with as he pictured Rosemary in his mind. He popped a grape into his mouth and started to draw his Bulbasaur from the game, starting to feel calmer already.

Richie Copeland // Real World

390.png
Kenny lv 8 Scratch, Leer, Ember

Positioning himself in a more comfortable position on the counter, Richie was done preparing for his viewing of the two girl's battle. "Ding! Ding! Ding!" The rather irritating noise brought him out of his concentration on the show unfolding in front of him. Searching for the source of the sound, he found that his Poketch was where it was coming from. It's screen flashed an exclamation mark, fading to black every other second. Looking up, he noticed that both the other two trainer's devices were doing the same thing. He looked at it in a rather confused matter for a few moments before hesitantly touching the screen.

"Looks like your time is up for the day! Sorry if this feels uncomfortable, time to log out."

Oakley's chirpy voice blasted out of the device, making Richie flinch and almost fall over. Log out…? FORCE LOG OFF | CONFIRM The words flashed on to the small Poketch screen and before he could even react his head started to spin. The world around him seemed to be swirling around and around. The disorienting feeling that it gave him made him almost want to vomit all over himself. He closed his eyes to try and cope with the sense, and as soon as he did the feeling left him.

Opening his eyes, he found himself in the same cell room that he had started out in when he was first kidnapped. He took off the headset that Oakley had made him put on, what seemed like only a couple hours ago. Richie sat up on the bed that he had been laying in to find the room just how he had found it, except for two minor details. He jumped up to examine the camo fleece that was draped across a chair. He shivered a bit before hurriedly putting it on. As he did an orange scarf dropped out of it and on to the floor. A large grin appeared on his face while he zipped up his outerwear and wrapped the scarf around his neck.

The two pieces of clothing had been a gift from his grandfather on Richie's first legal hunting trip. He inhaled deeply into the scarf, the same woodsy smell that had always been on it reminded him of home. There wasn't a doubt in his mind that this was his real scarf. Then a thought crossed his mind. If this is really my stuff… then how'd they get it in here? He then looked at the second difference in the room that he had noticed. And how'd they manage to make that while I was in the game world? A door that was nowhere to be found, before his gaming session was standing right ahead of him. Well… might as well check it out. He proceeded to turn the knob and walk through the door.

This is quite underwhelming. Richie gave a blank stare into what he assumed to be a 'lounge' area for the other gamers that were kidnapped along with him. All that was in there was a couple of sofas and a table in the middle, lined with an assortment of snacks. He almost turned around to rest on his bed when he spotted two figures on the sofas he had seen. A bespeckled young man with his black hair pulled back in a ponytail was eating grapes while sketching a picture. In the far couch, Richie saw Layla curled up against a stuffed toy sobbing to herself. Sighing a bit, he walked over to where the girl was sitting and sat down next to her. He gave her a reassuring smile before rustling her hair. "It'll be alright, buddy." He said trying to console her. Not really knowing what to say to follow that up he focused his attention elsewhere. Richie looked over at the guy who was drawing on the sketch pad. "Hey! What you drawing there?" He pointed towards the object in the stranger's hands. "The name's Richie by the way." He introduced himself as he playfully threw a cheerio at the man's head.

Jerrod Parker
Commons Room

Jerrod was getting lost in his drawing, feeling the old familiar texture of the pencil lightly outlining basic features of his creation. It may have been years since he last drew anything, but he showed no signs of rustiness about it. Soon he had a basic outline of a Bulbasaur's head, body, legs, and bud. As he finished, he heard a guy's voice from a few feet away, "Hey! What you drawing? The name's Richie, by the way." Before he could respond, however, he felt something bounce off his head. Looking down, someone had thrown a piece of cereal at him...no doubt to get his attention. He looked up at the guy who was now sitting by the girl, who Jerrod now recognized from the pokemon center as one of the trainers gearing up for a battle.

He was surprised that someone wanted to talk to him, especially from events long past. He may not have this chance again, so he intended to make a good first impression. He cleared his throat and nodded at the pair, smiling. "My name is Jerrod," he began, "I decided to start drawing sketches of the pokemon I either captured on my own or ones that simply catch my interest." He gingerly held up the bare outline that he was working on and shrugged. "I'm not finished with it yet, but when I do it'll be my starting pokemon, Bulbasaur," he smiled as he placed the sketch pad back onto his lap, "I need to do another sometime soon for my Rattata. I could also do drawings for y'all if you like. Just let me know."

He noticed the girl sitting next to him and smiled, his eyes showing signs of sympathy for her. "I recognize you from the pokemon center," he stated, "You and another girl were fixing to battle, right? Who won?" He waited for their response by chewing on a few more grapes slowly as he gave a small amount of attention to his drawing, starting to fill in the features.

Laura Poffman - Back To Reality

Laura shrugged her shoulders, visibly and overly annoyed with Layla at this point. Laura had half a mind to skip using Froakie to battle her and just straight out punch the girl in the face. In fact as she thought about it, it seemed like a pretty good idea. Unfortunately for her, acting upon that impulse would not be allowed. No sooner had the fight been about to actually start, did the rather annoying and unwelcome voice of Oakley ring into the girl's ears.

"Looks like your time is up for the day! Sorry if this feels uncomfortable, time to log out."

Laura glanced down at her Pokétech screen. Her eyes widened as she noticed the words FORCE LOG OFF | CONFIRM were printed across the screen. No sooner had the girl mouthed the words did everything suddenly began to feel... heavy. She suddenly felt incredibly dizzy, as if her entire world was spinning around. The girl fell to her knees with a groan as everything slowly fell to black, the world of Pokémon fading to black...

Laura's eyes eventually fluttered open. No longer was she standing in the Pokémon Center of Viridian City. Rather, she was back inside her cell-like room at... wherever this place actually was. The girl reached up to her head, slowly pulling off the device that allowed her to experience that world in the first place.

"Damn... My head hurts after dealing with all that..." Laura whispered, slowly climbing up to her feet.

The girl sighed, as she looked about the room in an attempt to regain her senses. Her eyes widened as she spotted two things that she had not seen inside the room earlier. The first thing she noticed was another one of her possessions, that being a case of various picks that she used to play her guitar with. The case itself was resting on the bed in the cell-like room. Laura quickly made her way towards it, taking hold of the case and opening it. Sure enough, all seven of the picks she owned were resting inside.

"How... How the hell did these get in here?" Laura questioned.

She did not get an answer, not that she was truly expecting one. She then turned her attention to the appearance of the second new feature to the room... a door. Keeping hold of her pick case, Laura made her way towards the door. A sense of hesitation seemed about her, as she debated opening up the door and venturing out. While it could give her some knowledge about where she was, it could also be somewhat beneficial that she maybe not know. Realizing that just standing and thinking about it was not going to get her anywhere, Laura threw chance into the wind and opened the door, stepping out of her room slowly.

The last thing the girl expected to walk into was a communal room of sorts. It looked... somewhat more hospitable than the room where she had been held previously. There were couches and tables with snacks and drinks... There were even several people that she recognized from the game world, including the guy she had elbowed in Kanto and...

Laura's eyes narrowed as she spotted Layla. "You... Damn, and here I was hoping you really were just some dumbass NPC..."

The woman looked up as she felt a warm hand rustling her hair, her eyes still gleaming with tears. She was surprised to recognize the young man she met in game earlier. She quickly wiped away her tears and smiled faintly, but the man had already turned his attention to another person that Layla didn't notice arriving, probably because of her sobbing to herself.

Layla simply hugged her stuffed toy even tighter as she made herself comfortable on the sofa, discreetly eavesdropping on the two men's conversation. She could find out that way that the odd man she had met in game went by the name Richie and the other man that seemed to be an artist was called Jerrod. The woman was suddenly snapped out of her state by Jerrod's addressing her.

"I recognize you from the Pokémon Centre. You and another girl were fixing to battle, right? Who won?" the man asked as he started chewing on some grapes.

"I'm Layla" she said and smiled softly as her cheeks started burning. "We didn't get to battle yet, we got force logged out." she went on explaining then rolled her eyes. "Such a rude girl that person was…"

By some odd twist of fate, just as Layla finished speaking, another person entered the room and, before anyone could react, her words echoed across the room:

"You... Damn, and here I was hoping you really were just some dumbass NPC..."

Surely enough, it was the same rude girl Layla had to face in game. The woman sighed and defensively grabbed hold of Richie's arm, curling up closer to him, as if trying to shelter herself from the storm to come. Peeking at the rude girl from behind Richies shoulder, Layla pulled her stuffed toy even closer in her embrace, softly tugging onto the man's arm in the process. She wanted nothing to do with the raging girl and, despite knowing that hiding wouldn't solve anything, she couldn't think of any other way to make the other person leave her alone.

Nathan "Nate" Harris | The other side

With a small push, he opened the metallic door. Of all the things he thought he'd encounter, this was the most surprising one. Behind the door, there was some sort of snack room, plenty of sofas were disposed around the table. And there were also other people, exactly four of them, two males and two females. Were they other players just like him trapped in this game or just some kind of guards? He looked around and noticed a girl crying in her stuffed toy. Wait, guards don't cry so they had to be players like him. Now, Nathan never felt happy or at ease with strangers but he had to admit it was a relief knowing he wasn't alone in this nightmare. He was starting to feel hungry so he grabbed a snack to eat. He then started to think about the friends he left, were they fine, were they worrying about him? He was lost into his thoughts before realizing that the situation around him had changed. Apparently, one of the girls wanted to pick a fight. He looked up and smirked.

"Animosity already, eh?"

Laura Poffman - Back To Reality

Laura glanced over her shoulder at the boy, yet another person she recognized from the simulation. She did not answer the boy right away at first. Rather, she only gave him a quick, somewhat annoyed glance before returning her attention towards Layla. The girl was clinging even tighter to that stuffed toy, as if she was trying to hide behind it and pretend she was not there. A small smirk graced Laura's lips at the sight.

"What's the matter? You were all tough back in that stupid game, now you're actin' like some wimp!" Laura inquired. She crossed her arms over her chest, shaking her head at the sight of the trembling girl. It was clear to most that Layla probably was not dealing well with the situation so far, and yet Laura seemed to not particularly care. "Pretty damn pathetic, really..."
