The screenies are looking nice Luke, I know I will love goon's maps when I see them in game. The starters also give the player a bit more
"original" selection, which I like seeing.
Progress seems to be going nice.

That's right, it's time for the next Broken Beacon contest. And what's the theme for the contest this time around? Well, it's a Design-a-Pokémon contest! :D What I want from you all is a design that's well thought out, creative and fits within what I'm asking of you! And here's the subject of this contest!:

Combee and Vespiquen were brought over with the Honey Trees from Sinnoh. While on the island, it was discovered that it WAS possible for male Combee to evolve. But only those tested in battle were able to reach this stage. Hivknight is incredibly aggressive and protective of its hive. It also listens to Vespiquen no matter what, maintaining that mentality from its time as a Combee. It is physically powerful and very fast.

For the most part, I'm giving you free range to design what you want. There are a few things I want though:

(READ THESE)

  1. It has to look like it's related to Combee/Vespiquen
  2. It needs a sword-like appendage to use its slashing attacks
  3. NO BEEDRILL CLONES
  4. It needs to look slightly humanoid like Vespiquen
  5. Black/Yellow please

That's it. Otherwise, you can do what you want! Bulky and powerful looking or a sleek killing machine. It's all up to you!

Sprites, hand-drawn, computer animated - I don't care. As long as the design is awesome and creative, I don't care what medium you submit it in!

In other news related to the hack, it's kind of stalled at the moment. Don't worry, its not going anywhere. We've just hit a slight mental roadblock that we'll get over it eventually. Hopefully in a week when Harry and I are both on holiday we'll make some major progress. :)

Seems like a fun contest! :D I'm horrible at drawing, but I'll give it my best shot.

May I ask when this contest will end?
 
Also, is there still going to be a low chance of finding a female Combee, or will the encounter ratio be raised a bit?

Now I kinda bent the rules a bit I tried giving it sword-like arms but it really didnt seem fit. I replaced slash and fury cutter with Wing attack and Revenge.

Psychological Notes:

  • The swords on the end of Dronin arms, are retractable (in the picture above, they are about one third of the blade is exposed)
  • Height: 1.25m [3'10] (slightly shorter than its female counterpart)
  • Weight: 80kg [175ibs] (about the same weight as a Kangaskan)
  • His wings are not strong enough for him to fly, but they can reduce his weight by 2/3rd, therefore Dronin can learn extreme speed!
  • With it large weight, Dronin can also learn stomp
  • Slightly higher DEF cos of its weight, perhaps?

Unfortunately I don't have room for Stomp in his movepool but I have to say I really, really, really like your design except for the head. I was thinking of maybe a bee-ish face with its head "wearing" a hat like this:

And I was thinking maybe having the legs be slightly shorter. Otherwise, I lovelovelove it :)

Since it's partly based on a Samurai. Otherwise, your design is the closest to what I was imagining when it came to Dronin :]

And I really apologize for the lack of updates everyone. I know a lot of people don't pay attention to this hack but I swear its not a lack of interest on my part that BB has stalled. I'm kind of just stuck where I am right now. Hopefully someday something will happen again lol

Having been a member for quite a while but never having contributed anything, but having taken so much, I thought I'd have a go at this; I'm no artist and after looking at all the other designs others have done, I don't know whether I should bother with this but here goes anyway...my Dronin

I actually really like that :D It doesn't really fit the outrageous designs of Combee/Vespiquen but its really well put together and awesome looking.

I'm attempting to learn scripting myself so I can get basic things done like NPCS, items, etc. So maybe if I actually overcome this hurdle, you'll be getting updates quicker than I expected.
