[Released] Pokémon Broken Spirits v1.2 (Updated on 6.9.24)

Pokémon Broken Spirits is a gen 3-styled fangame made in RPG Maker XP with Pokémon Essentials v20.1 which follows the protagonist in a character-driven story through a fleshed out alternate Pokémon world. Instead of chasing gyms, the player's journey more closely resembles that of traditional RPGs.


Story

The story revolves around a teenager caught up in grief upon losing everything. Feeling betrayed by their religion they venture into the nearby ruins, the remains of a civilization eradicated for its unorthodox beliefs. Unexpectedly they end up taking part in the scheme of a ruthless archaeologist who seeks to enter a sealed temple, which kicks of a series of events that pit the protagonist against the theocratic tyranny ruling the region and other forces using the concept of "truth" as a means for control.

Download link for v1.2. This version takes ~10-15 h to complete, or about 5 h when constantly speeding up.
Small disclaimer though: You'll notice the missing graphics and graphics that are poorly made or seem out of place. For these and other reasons I'm recruiting; you can find more details here.

Bugs fixed

• 2nd temple challenge: Lots of berry trees were invincible (includes those that guide you through the field)
• 2nd temple challenge: Fixed 2 instances where moving trees became invisible after moving

QOL changes:

• Ball puzzle: You can how set a checkpoint wherever you want (this should make it easier to find your own path)

Other:

• Slight improvement to Boris' sprite
• Simon now has an original sprite
• Changed the trainer battle music for the 2nd temple challenge

v1.1

Bugs fixed

• After talking to Summer in her room, you were unable to exit if you chose the option "No". If you tried exiting, the game would crash.
• A tree in Imon Ruins was permeable.
• When you interacted with Pikachu in Imon Forest (Oranguru's lair), it stayed there after defeating Oranguru.
• Some items in the 3rd temple challenge didn't reappear after exiting and entering the challenge.
• Only partially fixed: Ice sliding during the 3rd temple challenge sometimes didn't work right (character stopping prematurely, becoming invisible or projecting a ghost outwards after hitting an obstacle).

QOL changes

• Made the ball puzzle a bit easier (if you still think it's too hard, let me know)
• After entering Imon your spawn point is set to Imon.
• Swapped the positions of the Fossilized Fish and Relic Copper in Ferric Cave.
