Hi there. I know I am super late to the party but I am just discovering the romhack universe. I don't normally leave feedback but I had to give a big thank you to the person who made this. This is truly epic that I can relive my childhood favorites with a new spin and greater challenge. I have just finished with Blue Kaizo and jumped into Crystal Kaizo. G/s/c was my favorite generation Pokemon game and needless to say I'm loving this. Thank you so much for making this possible for me to enjoy, if you're still out reading through this!
I love that you made the story more linear and not open world. Open world sounds nice on paper but as with most video games you can finish one area and be over leveled for the next. Keeping the player on track with linear progression was a nice fix.
I read through a lot of comments on here, not all of them, but I must say- it's not "more annoying than challenging". It's a turn based combat system. There's only so much that can be done to increase the difficulty level other than increasing the opponents levels quickly and forcing you to grind. Unless the Pokemon were to be deleted upon fainting, but I don't know if I'd be willing and able to cope with that amount of stress.
That being said I was surprised to be able to heal mid battle. I just came from Blue Kaizo so I wasn't expecting to be able to shift or heal. I usually leave it on "set", since I feel getting a free swap out after every K.O can make any fight trivial. I try not to use healing items but it's hard not to with all of the status effect moves being thrown my way. I lose patience and don't have the resistance but I love challenges and wouldn't have minded if I couldn't heal. I was wondering if it would've been a good idea to add a berry merchant or something. Limiting a player to berries and hold items and blocking heals might have been fun.
My only major F UP so far is not realizing that you need to use moon and sun stones to evolve Eevee into Umbreon or Espeon. I spent a good amount of time catching and training my two Eevees, giving them hair cuts and what not. Then around level 33 I realized something was wrong and sought out an answer. (Which is what lead me here) I then evolved them and leveled them all the way to lv 52 when they get moonlight / morning sun. I researched and found out psybeam is only available at level 20.
Grinding an Espeon with only Shadowball and swift was torture, only to have to go get a ditto and breed it to start over for psybeam.. furthermore, when you try to use moonstone or sunstone it says "not able" next to their names. If it wasnt for this forum I would have never even thought to try it.
Only finished up to lake of rage currently, but overall I am really enjoying this remake. Great job and THANK YOU once more!
