FireRed hack: Pokémon DarkViolet (Full Version Released)

I haven't been able to replicate any of the game freezes during battle, except for when Quick Claw activates. In fact, I'm willing to believe that the Quick Claw might be the cause of all the freezes you guys are experiencing, as I can't replicate any other of the freezes while doing a quick VBA playthrough. SSJ4 Furanki even trained his Charizard to Lv99 without problems.

All I can say is, make sure you are patching to a clean FireRed ROM! Do not patch to Beta 1!

Also, my FireRed ROM is "1636 - Pokemon Fire Red (U)(Squirrels)". Try finding that one to get the exact 16mb of bytes that I have.

I accidentally assigned the same flag for Jim Gai's Moomoo Milk in Saffron Gym. It's fixed for Beta 2.1., but only if you've neither collected the Moomoo Milk nor HM03.

Again, I can't replicate this. Make sure you patched to a clean FireRed ROM, and that your ROM is "1636 - Pokemon Fire Red (U)(Squirrels)", and don't use the Quick Claw.

The only glitches I was able to replicate/confirm is the Quick Claw freeze glitch, the HM03/Moomoo Milk flag mixup, and the NPC in Fuji's house having the wrong dialogue.

With that said, there will be a Beta 2.1 soon, to address the Quick Claw, HM03/Moomoo Milk, and wrong dialogue errors.
 
2 questions. How far does Beta 2.0 go?
and What evolution changes have you made significantly different? My Charmander is lvl 17 and hasn't evolved, and Pidgey is lvl 14 and I'm just curious if it evolves at a different lvl too?

I managed to play through the whole Beta 2 without encountering any glitches. So in Beta 3 we can either have the choice to go through Route 21 or Route 19 if we want to? Also when you beat Viridian Gym are you able to enter Cycling Road since you are able to explore the rest of Route 12 after getting the Earth Badge?

Yes, you can choose between Route 21 or Route 19 to get to Cinnabar in the next major release.

And yes, upon beating Viridian Gym, the rest of Route 12 opens up, and so does Routes 16-18 (Cycling Road). Even though some of my decisions made the game less linear, I retained those two things about Kanto: Choosing how to get to Fuchsia, and choosing how to get to Cinnabar.
 
This is hack nicely done and i can't wait until your next beta release and i like how you put your twist on the story of red and blue version remakes. I like how there's a motivation for why Giovanni is evil in the original we're never any reason why he was evil just because he was.
 
Okay, I think I can 100% verify why some people are experience battle freezing glitches while some aren't.

I said in the release post that you have to patch to a clean FireRed ROM. I've found out that some people are patching directly to Beta 1 which I specifically said you shouldn't do. What happens when you patch directly to Beta 1 is that the 16mb of bytes you have that makes up the ROM is a different 16mb of bytes that I have, because the patch is made with a clean FireRed ROM in mind. The reason why things could get messed up is because there is altered content for the Beta 1 locations in Beta 2 (either due to bug fixes or other stuff), and so let me make this clear: PATCH TO A CLEAN FIRERED ROM!!!

And also, DON'T USE THE QUICK CLAW!

I never knew a version with up to 7 gyms were out! This is darn exciting I've been hyped up for something this good looking for ages. I'm gonna try it out now, thanks for the release and keep up the good work!

So what your telling us is that if we try get either moomoo milk from Jim Gai or surf from the safari zone we have eternally ruined our save files as we cannot actually get them anymore? Cuz i don't really understand.That counts for surf more than the milk. We can live without one moomoo milk :P.
I hope you fix this soon cuz surfing is esencial to me...to ALL of us :D

I went through safari zone found the secret house and obtained HM03 Surf normally. No glitches or bugs whatsoever.Am I the only one here not experiencing any problems? I did coincidentally patch the very same ROM as Chaos Rush told us to when beta 2 came out [(V1636 - Pokemon Fire Red (U)(Squirrels)] and i am playing the game Just Fine..

No, if you got the Moomoo Milk first, your save file is NOT eternally ruined. I changed the flag that the Surf guy gives you, so by next release it will work just fine. However, this means that if you already got Surf, you will be able to get it again in Beta 2.1 due to having a different flag, but that won't harm anything. On the upside, if you got the Moomoo Milk first and you were unable to receive Surf because of it, you'll be able to actually get Surf in the next release.

So, regardless of what item you got first, your save file will be totally fine for the next release.

Yeah, Scizor's Bullet Punch is OP and Sabrina was too easy for me, I wanted a harder battle against her like in Gen 1.

I finished the 7th Gym with this team:
Pseudra (Charizard): Naughty; BrightPowder; Blaze; Fire Blast, Air Slash, DragonBreath and Mega Kick.
Al (Honchkrow): Serious; Amulet Coin; Insomnia; Fly, Sucker Punch, Haze and Taunt.
OverPower (Machamp): Hasty; Black Belt; No Guard; Dynamic Punch, Cross Chop, Seismic Toss and Rock Slide.
Natural (Leafeon): Rash; BlackGlasses; Chlorophyll; Swords Dance, ExtremeSpeed, Bite and Leaf Blade.
Launcher (Rhyperior): Careful; Focus Band; Solid Rock; Drill Run, Stone Edge, Bulldoze and Hammer Arm.
Regal (Kingdra): Calm; Scope Lens; Sniper; Surf, Hydro Pump, Twister and Osmosis.
 
Are shadow ball, energy ball, rock slide, dragon claw/pulse, and dark pulse in beta 2? If so where are they?
And why were the marsh and soul badge's names switched?They were just fine the way they were before..

They were mixed up in Gen I, and several guidebooks have them mixed up, which leads me to believe that the original plan was for the Pink Badge to be localized as the Marsh Badge and for the Gold Badge to be localized as the Soul Badge. But somehow, the locization team got those mixed, most likely due to the fact that Sabrina and Koga can both be battled as the fifth Gym Leader in Gen I.

And no, they weren't fine before. The word "marsh" has absolutely nothing to do with the Psychic type. There is only one dictionary definition of marsh, and it means wetlands with lots of grass and water, and a place where poisonous gases could potentially form. The Safari Zone could easily be interpreted as a marshland.

In addition to that, the word "soul" seems far more fitting to the Psychic type rather than the Poison type.
 
Just played through beta 2 and it was amazing! It finishes after Sabrina correct? Only ran into the weird level up glitch where it froze twice.
 
I love this. The improved maps, gentle sprinkles of new catchable pokemon on the routes, the just difficult enough trainers, active NPCs, and the new movesets. I hope my RMXP game will be as good as this.

The only thing I want when playing this is for it to say "The enemy trainer is sending out a new pokemon. Do you want to switch?" instead of telling you what it is.
 
Great job founding out why everyone was having a freezing game. Still playing through beta 2 and it's amazing catching and trying to complete the pokedex even though it's not possible yet.
 
Ok before I say anything, first of all, this is a great beta! Thanks for taking your time to create this.
I've got a few things to report though
First of all, you might want to look at your move descriptions. The move description for Taunt is off, and I believe Venom Rush is off too (the move description isn't matching what its doing).
Second, for some reason, when the opponent uses Destiny Bond on me, its not working like its supposed to. I was fighting a trainer's Gastly, and it used Destiny Bond on me. My Graveler took it out that turn, but for some reason, my Graveler didn't faint as well.
And I like the story in this game, but what irked me from a player's point of view was having to listen to NPC's talk about details I already knew about over and over again (eg. Kamon talking about Deoxys' tale after Daisy talked about it). I know it makes sense storywise, because the NPC's don't know you already know this, but it just gets repetitive in my opinion.
