I finally found the blue shard :D tbh I don't remember how I even found it, I just remember going to the sandstorm area, using up 10+ max repels and hoping I would arrive in the right place, then I fell into the cave and YIPPIE BLUE SHARD!!
Anyway I'm not sure what's next, I think I have to surf to the next location? I should probably check the guide :P

Just finished playing. Easily one of the best Pokémon games I've played. I did miss a few of the side quests/lost track of ones I started, so would've loved a tracker of sorts.

Other than that, I was engaged throughout and struggled to put it down. I thought it got the difficulty just right, the puzzles were a good challenge and the story was phenomenal.

The only thing I can say would be it would be so nice if story-pivotal battles had special battle music than the standard FRLG battle theme, but I digress.
I'm in the midst of the second game, and I do have a question before going to the end:

Prior to Elysium Island, Lugia and Latias join your team.
Do you need to keep them in your party during story events for the rest of the game?
I don't really enjoy having to use two Pokémon weak to Ice, Dark, and Ghost and would prefer to keep my team diversity.

About your question:

Spoiler: Part B - Before Elysium Island

No, you don't need to keep Lugia or Latias in your party for any story related reasons. You can safely box them but you must not release them. They'll become relevant later but you don't need to carry them around for now.

Usually by leveling up to lvl 45 or 50. Do you have a specific Pokemon in mind that you'd like to ask about?

Yes, I have a Seadra, and a Dusclops, but if it's by level up, I'm not concerned, they're all around lvl 40 already

That's a shame. It's genuinely the first game that's hooked me from the start. I often lose interest midway through a lot of ROMs due to them feeling like a normal play through with slight variations, but Elysium was engaging throughout

Hello! It's pretty straightforward: just surf around the pond and press A as if you're searching for a hidden item. Stay close to the fisherman, the Voltorb isn't far away.

You're not supposed to talk to this guy. Step back to the spot between the debris and the hole in the ground, it should trigger an event. Not sure why it didn't for you.
