Pokémon Essentials Wiki

Well a lot of Pokémon Essentials features aren't exactly newbie friendly to begin with, that's why it all takes time. If someone really wants to learn how to use Essentials, then they will actually dedicate themselves to learning and not constantly asking questions (unless it's a genuine "I'm stuck, I need help" question).

As Soul.//Silver said, Essentials should not be used by someone who doesn't know how to use RPG Maker XP. And the wiki isn't a tutorial about how to use RPG Maker XP, it's about what's in Essentials.

Besides, the Egg section you mentioned isn't finalised yet. It can certainly be expanded on and made clearer - it's just that no one has done so yet (because there has been little activity, and there are plenty of other articles that need creating/improving too).

If you find an article or section of article that is incomplete, put the {{stub}} template in it to say so. Preferably you should also make a note (in that article's talk page) explaining why it's incomplete. Then people can look in the Incomplete pages section and find articles that are incomplete.

King Charizard if it was only for completed fangames raptor would be the only one XD

King Charizard if it was only for completed fangames raptor would be the only one XD

Well yeah, but I am hoping that will change. I had thought my release was gonna happen soon but it has been pushed back because of my recent lack of time and alotof changes to scripts and graphics(For the better) but with malachite and other games at or past the 50% completion mark it makes me think others will come.(Assuming that other games are near the 50% completion mark)

I must say that I have found the wiki incredibly helpful and if I can think of a useful way to contribute I will try to do so.

I will try to throw together a wikipedia logo with the letters replaced by Unown.

I remember checking it out before, ever thought of putting a custom script section on it?

You're free to make new pages for whatever custom scripts you want to contribute. I keep an eye on all changes, and fiddle with things as necessary, so a section can be made if there's things to put in it.

I attatched the wikipedia style logo I made. I'm going to work on a Charizard RPG maker XP logo.

EDIT: I uploaded two Charizard logos. In one, the charizard image was sharpened so it didn't look as pixelated. The other had the charizard untouched.

So the wiki has existed for a month and a week now, and it's taking shape. The articles about Pokémon and Items are looking pretty good (with a few gaps here and there), and there are odd articles hanging around elsewhere as well. I'd say it's pretty good progress for something that very few (too few) people have actually contributed to.

It still needs more articles, though. Rome wasn't built in a day, so I hear, and Bulbapedia was under assembly for three months before it was opened to the public (and look how good it is now). The Essentials wiki hasn't been going nearly that long, and although it's make some significant progress already, there's still much to do.

As always, the wiki needs your contributions. You can help in many different ways; here are just a few:

  1. Some of the articles describe features or game scenarios we're all familiar with. The intro screen with the Professor, choosing a starter, Poké Centres, Gyms, trainers (including rival and partner ones, which are exactly the same as regular ones), and so on. It's because you all know about these things that contributing your knowledge is an easy thing to do. No one's asking you to write about something you don't know. If you know about editing the battle data box that tells the player what their Pokémon is and how it's faring, then get that information down! Someone else will fill in the gaps you're leaving.
  2. Rather than trying to write a whole article from scratch, remember that you can always just edit an existing one. If you see something you think you can tweak, or there's a bit of information you know that you think should be added, do so! Don't let the prospect of writing an entire article by yourself put you off, because you don't need to.
  3. If you don't want to write or contribute to an article, then just talk about them instead! Make suggestions of what information/articles you want to see, what you think should be rewritten, or what you think is most important. Any comments at all are welcome, on any topic (well, as long as they're Essentials/wiki-related, obviously!). Even post the thoughts that you don't think are important enough to mention - they are, because you thought it! This wiki is for you, and if you want to say something about it, say so!
  4. Tell your friends about it! Admittedly, as fanbases go, the Essentials fanbase isn't one of the larger ones (although having said that, how many people here are using it?), but there will still be lots of people who either want the help that the wiki offers, want to contribute something to the kit, or maybe were just overwhelmed by Essentials and its huge notes file before.
So have a go! The wiki's had a decent start, it has some content now, but it needs to continue. Only you can make it a success.

Thus ends my rousing speech for this month.

Question:

If a trainer is supposed to disappear after defeat, what would that be, as an event?

That'd be an event command. The trainer-related stuff is simply the "notice at 5 paces" and the "start the battle" things. As such, it's basic RMXP knowledge rather than Essentials-related.

Having said that, though, several trainers (particularly the rival events) walk all over the place and teleport away afterwards and do a host of other things. I think a brief mention that there are some trainers that do things should be fine, although there's no particular need to explain how to do everything because, as I said, that's RMXP stuff.

[PokeCommunity.com] Pokémon Essentials Wiki

Here's a logo I created. Pixel text to match the games. Yellow matches official logo. Made in paint.

And can I request the Battles part be made? It's completely empty.

I don't have the time to officially contribute to the Wiki - but I do like where's it going. I sent you an email, Maruno - and maybe you can get some use out of it.

I've done up the Region map article, after a while of me being away.

Since poccil has added support for Pokémon alternate forms, the Alternate forms article needs modifying. I don't keep up to date with Essentials, so I can't edit it myself. If someone else knows about them, please share your knowledge.

@SpawnHyuuga ~ I'm not yet sure what it is you've sent me, but thanks for the contribution.

Sorry Maruno, but I don't appreciate being ignored. Don't expect me to contribute anymore to the wiki.

I'm sorry I overlooked your post.

Your logo is quite simple (not that that's a bad thing). I hope others will comment on the logos, and voice their preferences. We have a range, now, and it's about time to put something up.

As for the Battles section, well, it's a very big thing. Are there any parts in particular you'd like to see done first? Please remember that I'm not (supposed to be) the only contributor, and that I don't know everything. It's a bit unfair to ask me to do everything - you could easily have made a blank page with a few notes on what you think that page should contain.

As a single person, I can't possibly anticipate every detail that everyone wants to see - a good example of this is indeed the Battles section. What needs to go in there? I can have a crack at writing something, but only if I have better guidelines than "battle stuff". That's like being put into a quarry and being told to build a house - where do you begin? You guys need to provide the foundations (at least).

I'll try to contribute under the name Elekiburu.
