FireRed hack: Pokémon FireGold

Extreme Mode is probably the singular best Fire Red experience, the lack of Johto Music in Johto makes it feel like an extension of Fire Red and less like an outright HGSS remake. It's not really a detriment.


With that being said, Substitute is super glitched and the game freezes whenever an opponent uses MoonBlast: (Gary's Kadabra and a few of the WigglyTuff's in Whitney's gym, some of the Haunter's in Morty's game, etc etc). Flash Cannon on Jasmine's Magneton froze the game as well.


If you are still working on this could you add Focus Sash to the game since Focus Band is already there and the two items work similarly? Have played a lot of FR hacks and this is probably Top 4 minimum.


EDIT: VS Seeker doesn't work in Caves and when I purchased Life Orb it was listed as "???????" with a description of "cE" when it went inside my item inventory. I put it on a mon and it didn't chip HP when attacks landed, so I am guessing it doesn't work.

EDIT: I think it's a bad design choice to have Mt.Silver be a "Dark Cave" (that requires Flash), because then you have to bring an HM Slave as opposed to running your normal 6th Party member for the Gold/Ethan fight. Just a small inconvenience, or if there would've been like a PC or something right before seeing Ethan so you can swap party members, that would've worked too.

Really enjoying the game so far but I'm stuck after the Cianwood Gym. I can not get throug mt Mortar because I don't have Rock Smash. Where can I get Rock Smash
From the woman outside right next to the gym, it's the same woman where you get HM Fly in the original gold/silver/crystal games

You can't use YAPE on this hack, not even on the older version 1.8. But you can use HexManiacAdvance, it can do the same (and even more...).

Until now I'm almost finshed with my modifications to add 4 Points Isle (same as Ultra Violet with gen3 pokemon) and making the rematch with the gymleaders more difficult by adding some legendaries 😮🤗

You have to apply the patch onto a clean Fire Red ROM. As for whether new regions will be added or not depends on the developer. They did say they were planning to port the game onto the CFRU, but there has been no update on that for a while now.

Receive a new starter Pokémon and build a new team.
Re-battle Gym Leaders when Johto unlocked.
Vs. Seeker implemented for Kanto and Johto.
All Pokémon from generations 1 and 2 are obtainable without trade.
P/S split, fairy-type, selection of abilities and attacks from across all 8 generations. Some Pokémon have new abilities or those of their megas.
Reusable TMs/Move Tutors.
Breeding accessible immediately after first league victory.
National Dex unlocked with no Pokédex requirement after first league victory.
Leaders may use a different team on rematch. Gold will use one of twenty random teams each battle.

Extreme Mode Only
Designed to take you to level 100.
Increased level curve in Johto allows for teams to be interchangeable by Ecruteak.

The early gym spikes are way op. I had to drop it early when I noticed the trainer and wild pokemon were all base levels for the most part. Meaning I'm just over-leveled until the next gym, where I'll have to grind hours to get my team up another 10+ levels to not be swept. I left Brocks gym with a mostly evolved pokemon team if not 1lv from it. It would have 100% been an evolved team if I'd have gone with Charmander as the starter. Elemental Bites, Rock Tomb, Ice Beam is way too much coverage that early and powerful moves. There needs to be more balance in the between fights and wild pokemon fights if the Gym spikes are going to be that aggressive. I can't just grind my whole team on lv 2-5 bugs and birds outside of Brocks, or lv7-11 Ekans and Sandshrew outside of Misty's gym for hours and call that enjoyable difficulty. I think you have a good vision for what you want, but there are balance and quality of life issues.

It's my first romhack and I'm having fun, even though the Brock's gym was pretty damn harsh on hard. Aerodactyl felt like overkill, but I got through with Wartortle and Mankey. Later my Paras got Leech Life on level 11 (80 damage Bug draining move before Misty's Starmie, lol), which suddenly made the game quite easy for me. My point is the romhack was surprising me in both harsh and nice ways, which I consider fun.

I have found a stupid bug though. See, I just got Hitmonlee and when he learned Hi Jump Kick, it turned out it has 10 accuracy, and its description is false. When it comes to damage and recoil, it seems fine.


Also, about the whole romhack idea - I wish it was more like an actual reversed HeartGold, where you go through Johto with your whole high level team from Kanto, which if I understand correctly, isn't the case here because the opponents' levels in Johto are low, and the story is Gold story instead of a new, pre-Gold story (just like it was post-Red story in HeartGold). I wish this hack also had Sevii, but I guess that may be too much to ask. I like it for what it is, but I'd like it to be a little more.

I hope I can bring my low level bred Kanto Pokémon to Johto, so I can at least pretend I'm going there with my old team.

Finish Trying this, i honestly hope there some minor differences in story at johto because it's red not gold we play as maybe the people there have different reactions since red is seasoned trainer by now in johto or maybe there some event differences other than that when i play it's nice to see johto again. Stay healthy

It pretty much accomodates Johto's storyline with Red becoming the champion.
