Happiny seems to be bugged. Whenever I give it an Oval Stone and use a Rare Candy, the Oval Stone vanishes and it doesn't evolve :( And yes it's daytime.
And 'using' the Oval Stone like a standard evo stone just gives me the "not the time or place for that" message (but would be easier honestly)

I want to report a couple more of bugs:

One: I just defeated the seventh gym, and now every single battle is an inverse battle

Two: I got the scanner from the abandoned ship, and when the scientist from slateport harbor asks me to trade It, the text appears as If I said no, no matter what I choose

Three: This may just be me, but the house from Mossdeep still frozes me

I'm up to Lavaridge Town on challenge mode. Pretty difficult so far but it's helped by the fact that it's pretty effortless to get a decent competitive team with correct IVs/EVs.
Also, i just found a bug in the Lavaridge Town's Mart. The list of items to buy is totally wrong. I can buy the fossils, evolution items, the lucky egg and some "?????" items (didn't try to buy these, i don't want to potentially corrupt my game).
Edit: Got my last team memeber: Electivire. Unfortunately it can't learn ice punch via the move tutor, i believe that's a bug as well.
Hey, thanks for the bug report. That's been fixed in the latest version (1.2), along with some other major bugs. I'll fix Electivire and Ice Punch in the next release.
I can kinda get it. But I can still see a lot of people getting bothered by a forced EXP Share regardless, considering the number of mainline games its already busted in terms of difficulty.

I'm not bugged by it myself (hell, Wattson and Roxanne tossed me around like a bloody sandbag VIOLENTLY when I went in unprepared), just others in my circle got turned off hard by just the mention of it. If its possible though, could the EV reduction of the berries be boosted to make them more worth farming for? Or at least be buyable in an early-ish location, like the Daycare or in the Pokemon Centers or something?
The EXP share's only broken in the 3DS games because they're not designed around it; this hack is, and it's a little too late to redo all the trainer teams to change that now. That said I do have some changes to the EXP system planned to sort out balance issues in the early game.
Sure, I can make the berries more effective, that's a good idea!
Hey Buffel! What would be your thoughts on changing some of the happiness evos to level up for early game balancing? snorlax and lucario are same as vanilla so those make sense but being able to get Noivern, Trevenant, and Alakazam before Roxanne/Brawly seems a bit too strong. Maybe a lvl 25 or 30 lvl up evo would keep the early game encounters a bit more balanced. Let me know your thoughts!
Hey! Yeah I've been thinking about that, might have to make them item-based or relocate some of them as they're very strong early on.
hello again buffel!Through hours of thoughts i finally figured how to solve the problem!I had .sax and not .gba file so patch didntt apply. Please add this detail to HOW TO PATCH textbook.
Hey! Thanks for sharing your solution, I'll definitely add that to the guide. I think it needs more detail anyway!
I wonder if we will get some kind of EV Checker in the game ? If it exist , where can i get it ?
Evie in Fallarbor Town can show you your mon's EVs as well as change them, but I do have something less restrictive in the works too.
is Roserade in the game? not in the doc.
It's not the in the list of mons you can't get, so yes it is!
As far as "how vanilla is vanilla enough" my opinion is that custom move tutors are close enough to not need a reworking but that move change, stat changes, type changes, and megas should all be removed, or at least the custom megas. The EXP and Weather changes should also probably me reverted for a Vanilla play through.
Hey, thanks for your input! I'll keep that mind once I'm able to continue working on the standard version.
Bug report: not sure if it happens if other pokes use it but when I was facing haxorus from a trainer in mt pyre it freezes the battle when it uses first impression like it stays saying haxorus used first impression and nothing will happen
Hey, thanks for reporting this! It seems several move animations are broken at the moment, so if you had animations on that'll be the problem. I should have them all fixed later today.
I'm really excited about this hack since I've always wanted something as polished and challenging as Rad Red for Emerald. So, I would like to congrats you for the hack! But I also would like to add my 2 cents in saying that a level cap system, like the one used in Rad Red or Unbound, is way better than the current system where the NPC's 'mon are at the same level as your stronger one. This same level system is extremely problematic, specially early in-game when you have a over leveled starter and a bunch of lvl. 4 recently caught Pokemon. I'm looking forward to the 8 Gen update. Great hack, keep it up! :)
Hey, thanks! I have to disagree on the level cap, just because Hoenn is so open; if I had level caps instead of scaling, then everything after you get Surf becomes a massive problem. Either I set the cap based on the player battling every single trainer, which would make the optional areas almost mandatory, or people would lose entire routes worth of exp because they'd be above the cap when exploring them. That said, once there's an easy way to grind I think caps will be needed in the earlier parts of the game, so you'll end up with both systems.
Playing through for the first time, at first I thought I'd have to go into the team to use HMs like in Gen 1 but never realized I needed the PokéNav first. I'm loving this so far
Thanks! Maybe I should the PokéNav requirement to the first post.
Are there documents with boss fight teams/ levels for level caps? Can't wait to HC nuzlocke this!
Not yet! I'll add a link to the source file for trainers in the first post in the meantime.

It seems the "level up holding item" evos are all doing this, I'll be looking into it today. They were working in an earlier version so hopefully it's an easy fix.

Thanks for reporting all these bugs everyone! Sorry there are so many; I'll keep up the regular releases over the next few days until they're fixed, so you might have to do a bit of patching!

I'm really enjoying the hack so far! Is there a way to evolve pokemon with standard first forms into their alolan forms, for example exeggcute and cubone? Or do we just have to "buy" those evos at the casino?

  • Aaaaaaand bug found. Trying to buy from the first cashier in Lavaridge causes the game to either blackscreen, freeze, or outright reset.

Can you make an option of 3 exp gain like in pokemon unbound : 1) exp all (current system), 2) exp individual (like original games), 3) level cap?

Its really helpful if implemented, like the other said the level balancing of early game is so stressful because of overleveled starter problem

I'm sorry that I have to stopped playing after roxanne because I didn't patient enough to train my underleveled other pokemon before I get training band

This game have so much potential even better than radical red because the wide choice of starter with boosted ability, while rr is only have basic gen1 trio

I hope you consider this option, thank you.

Ah yeah, that'd definitely do it. Gems are buyable now there.

While I'm at it though, some of the berries trees have a tendency to make the game lock-up when you try to pick them. Particularly when under the effects of speed-up.

MAJOR BUG: inverse stays after gym battle 7
There's a workaround for this one; talk to Tate & Liza again after beating them. As this is a major bug I'll get it fixed today.

I think the solution will be level caps for the early badges - that way your starter will stop levelling up for a while and give the rest of the team a chance to catch up. I can't do the classic EXP system as that'd take away half of your total EXP, which would make the grind even worse; trainers would still be balanced around the exp all, so you'd fall behind quickly. I agree the early game balance is an issue though so I'll make sure it gets fixed!
Also, I don't see the pickup table in the documentation
That definitely needs to be added, it's been tweaked a bit.

I think these two might be related, I'll take a look. If you happen to run into a tree that freezes and wouldn't mind sharing a save while standing by it that would be very helpful!

The game is stunning, The level scaling makes it easier to build new teams on the fly and the move tutor + the general pokemon changes opens a huge amount of new broken strategy. I love how Discharge + Heat Wave Zapdos and Boomburst Mega Flygon just destroy every single double battle please don't change it :)

I got something interesting on my playthrough tho, The game got stuck to
    Spoiler:
    after
    Spoiler:
. Is this intended or is it a bug?

Thanks! Flygon's been waiting so long for a mega I think it's earned a broken one!

Yeah that's a bug, you can "fix" it by talking to Tate and Liza again after beating them. Will properly fix it today.

This hack seems super interesting and I've enjoyed your other hacks but for whatever reason it seems to crash and black screen at the most simple tasks like entering a building or finishing a battle making it completely unplayable. I don't think it's the emulator because I've tried m-gba and vba-m and I've tried repatching it to no avail. I'm not sure what to do the hack seems super fun though.

I was looking through the Docs and saw the note about Delcatty; it gave me a chuckle and an idea that I don't think I've seen before. Why not make it Fairy/Ground type? It's in both the Fairy and Field egg groups already, and it gets moves from both types and would have interesting coverage options unavailable to most Pokemon. Something along the lines of:

    Delcatty (Fairy/Ground)
    80 hp / 75 atk / 75 def / 115 spa / 65 spdef / 90 spe - 500 total
Cute Charm / Limber / Fluffy
+Moonblast, +Earth Power, +Earthquake (because a cat using eq is hilarious and theres no ground type that doesnt get it afaik)

Only issue I see is you can technically just get Delcatty right after getting to Rustboro if you trade for the Pawniard, so maybe for balance it should be a Shiny Stone evo? That's at Route 113.

Anyway, just a random idea. It's tough differentiating Delcatty from every other cat/cute looking mediocre mon. Looking forward to playing this more & seeing how it develops!!

Is there documentation for where to find wild pokemon? Like which routes (Including water areas) and caves? Also, any cheats that work for this game?

Is there any documentation for wild pokemon locations? Specifically like which route and what water they reside in.
