I'm up to Lavaridge Town on challenge mode. Pretty difficult so far but it's helped by the fact that it's pretty effortless to get a decent competitive team with correct IVs/EVs.
Also, i just found a bug in the Lavaridge Town's Mart. The list of items to buy is totally wrong. I can buy the fossils, evolution items, the lucky egg and some "?????" items (didn't try to buy these, i don't want to potentially corrupt my game).
Edit: Got my last team memeber: Electivire. Unfortunately it can't learn ice punch via the move tutor, i believe that's a bug as well.
Hey, thanks for the bug report. That's been fixed in the latest version (1.2), along with some other major bugs. I'll fix Electivire and Ice Punch in the next release.
I can kinda get it. But I can still see a lot of people getting bothered by a forced EXP Share regardless, considering the number of mainline games its already busted in terms of difficulty.
I'm not bugged by it myself (hell, Wattson and Roxanne tossed me around like a bloody sandbag VIOLENTLY when I went in unprepared), just others in my circle got turned off hard by just the mention of it. If its possible though, could the EV reduction of the berries be boosted to make them more worth farming for? Or at least be buyable in an early-ish location, like the Daycare or in the Pokemon Centers or something?
The EXP share's only broken in the 3DS games because they're not designed around it; this hack is, and it's a little too late to redo all the trainer teams to change that now. That said I do have some changes to the EXP system planned to sort out balance issues in the early game.
Sure, I can make the berries more effective, that's a good idea!
Hey Buffel! What would be your thoughts on changing some of the happiness evos to level up for early game balancing? snorlax and lucario are same as vanilla so those make sense but being able to get Noivern, Trevenant, and Alakazam before Roxanne/Brawly seems a bit too strong. Maybe a lvl 25 or 30 lvl up evo would keep the early game encounters a bit more balanced. Let me know your thoughts!
Hey! Yeah I've been thinking about that, might have to make them item-based or relocate some of them as they're very strong early on.
hello again buffel!Through hours of thoughts i finally figured how to solve the problem!I had .sax and not .gba file so patch didntt apply. Please add this detail to HOW TO PATCH textbook.
Hey! Thanks for sharing your solution, I'll definitely add that to the guide. I think it needs more detail anyway!
I wonder if we will get some kind of EV Checker in the game ? If it exist , where can i get it ?
Evie in Fallarbor Town can show you your mon's EVs as well as change them, but I do have something less restrictive in the works too.
is Roserade in the game? not in the doc.
It's not the in the list of mons you can't get, so yes it is!
As far as "how vanilla is vanilla enough" my opinion is that custom move tutors are close enough to not need a reworking but that move change, stat changes, type changes, and megas should all be removed, or at least the custom megas. The EXP and Weather changes should also probably me reverted for a Vanilla play through.
Hey, thanks for your input! I'll keep that mind once I'm able to continue working on the standard version.
Bug report: not sure if it happens if other pokes use it but when I was facing haxorus from a trainer in mt pyre it freezes the battle when it uses first impression like it stays saying haxorus used first impression and nothing will happen
Hey, thanks for reporting this! It seems several move animations are broken at the moment, so if you had animations on that'll be the problem. I should have them all fixed later today.
I'm really excited about this hack since I've always wanted something as polished and challenging as Rad Red for Emerald. So, I would like to congrats you for the hack! But I also would like to add my 2 cents in saying that a level cap system, like the one used in Rad Red or Unbound, is way better than the current system where the NPC's 'mon are at the same level as your stronger one. This same level system is extremely problematic, specially early in-game when you have a over leveled starter and a bunch of lvl. 4 recently caught Pokemon. I'm looking forward to the 8 Gen update. Great hack, keep it up! :)
Hey, thanks! I have to disagree on the level cap, just because Hoenn is so open; if I had level caps instead of scaling, then everything after you get Surf becomes a massive problem. Either I set the cap based on the player battling every single trainer, which would make the optional areas almost mandatory, or people would lose entire routes worth of exp because they'd be above the cap when exploring them. That said, once there's an easy way to grind I think caps will be needed in the earlier parts of the game, so you'll end up with both systems.
Playing through for the first time, at first I thought I'd have to go into the team to use HMs like in Gen 1 but never realized I needed the PokéNav first. I'm loving this so far
Thanks! Maybe I should the PokéNav requirement to the first post.
Are there documents with boss fight teams/ levels for level caps? Can't wait to HC nuzlocke this!
Not yet! I'll add a link to the source file for trainers in the first post in the meantime.
Happiny seems to be bugged. Whenever I give it an Oval Stone and use a Rare Candy, the Oval Stone vanishes and it doesn't evolve :( And yes it's daytime.
And 'using' the Oval Stone like a standard evo stone just gives me the "not the time or place for that" message (but would be easier honestly)
It seems the "level up holding item" evos are all doing this, I'll be looking into it today. They were working in an earlier version so hopefully it's an easy fix.
Thanks for reporting all these bugs everyone! Sorry there are so many; I'll keep up the regular releases over the next few days until they're fixed, so you might have to do a bit of patching!
