If Pokémon were to be on the Switch, would you hope its a spinoff or a main series game? Anything else? Specify.

Also, if you don't have the Switch, if any Pokémon title were to be released on the Switch, would you finally buy the Switch?

Bonus Question: If a Pokémon title were to be on the Switch, when do you think it'll be announced and released?

I personally would LOVE if Pokémon Mystery Dungeon were to come on the Switch. Imagine that for just one sec. It's literally the perfect Pokémon game for the Switch from all the spinoffs & main titles imo. But if Pokémon Snap, Ranger, or Pokken were to come on the Switch that'll be pretty amazing too.
I say for a Pokémon title to be announced would probably be either this year in the winter or next summer. Most likely would be released next year during the fall/winter, most likely in the winter.

I'm pretty sure we'll see both main series and spin-off Pokemon games on the Switch, maybe not right away but eventually, it's more than likely. A main series game would undoubtedly be one of the highest sellers for the Switch so I can't see why they wouldn't go for it. As for right now, I think we've still got another set of 3DS games to get through before we move onto Gen 8, that's when I think they'll make the move over to the Switch sometime next year.

With Nintendo's announcement of the New 2DS XL, I think it's less likely that they're going to make the jump and put the main series on the Switch. At least exclusively. But really, I can't see them releasing the same set of games for two different consoles either. They're really pushing the Switch's handheld convenience in adverts, but at the same time they're not due to their continued support of the 3DS and that desire to have a home console presence.

I'd actually call the early Switch adverts something of a fluke, because I don't think Nintendo were anticipating how popular the 3DS was still going to be - or the success of Sun and Moon - despite them announcing a new hybrid console. They might FINALLY be starting to think like an electronics manufacturer rather than a toymaker and be realising that it is perfectly possible to support more than one thing at a time.

Nintendo isn't overly keen on dividing up its userbase, and putting a core series Pokemon game on the Switch would be a very uncharacteristic move as it would do exactly that. A Switch version would draw attention away from the 3DS version unless it was a straight-up port, in which case it would get lambasted by the media for being a port, when the Switch is capable of substantially more than the New 3DS. Moving the core series away from the 3DS would kill it. Pokemon is what has made Nintendo's handhelds so successful, and if they lose that, then Nintendo might as well stop production.

I think a spinoff title seems the more likely choice, outside of Virtual Console releases. There are a ridiculous number of spinoffs they could choose from that would fit the Switch perfectly. Personally, I'd like to see another proper Pokemon Mystery Dungeon title...with Friend Areas. I also think Pokemon Stadium would be right at home on the Switch (with Pokemon Bank support it's far easier to transfer Pokemon than it used to be) and for god's sake, Pokemon Snap 2. I want Snap 2 more than anything else. Pokken is pretty much a given I think. Or some form of sequel or expansion.

I already have a Switch, so obviously I wouldn't buy a second just for Pokemon. xD

For the series, I really hope we see a main series game on the Switch, I think it's time the main games went to console tbh. Game Freak could make two versions of the games, released on the Switch and 3DS to appeal to all fans. Some of the limitations that Pokemon has on the 3DS would be obsolete and it would open up a whole new world of possibilities; whilst I don't know if it would make me buy a Switch, I think it would be really good for the series.

I'd love to have a main series game on the Switch, and I would totally buy a Switch just for it. I feel like Sun and Moon were pushing the 3DS hardware a little too much -- lag in double battles, anyone? -- so it only makes sense to move the series onto another platform if we want to keep it progressing.

Nitnedo already just jump making N2DSXL, so it is less likely to make or port a main series or spin to Switch. Maybe spin off should be on Switch while main series they rather be glued to consoles like 3ds family instead of switch because the controls bit different than 3DS while Switch is co-op or 2 player like so Spin off would be good at Switch

I'm conflicted, on one hand I'm not buying a switch just for a Pokemon game, though I do think Pokemon will go down that road.

To be honest with the direction of sun and moon I don't know if I'd care about playing future Pokemon games even if they were on the switch. Maybe if they made an open world Pokemon game where you can go to all regions and collect all Pokemon. Maybe have gyms as an option but not be mandatory.

I didn't buy a DS until the 3ds came out which I bought instead, I wasn't a huge fan of gen 3 so didn't feel like buying a new system for gen 4. I really enjoyed gen 6, 7 not so much so who knows what 8 will bring.

Main games will happen, that I am sure. I am in no rush to see it happen asap though, as I'm content with another gen 7 game on the 3DS first. But not too fussed,I have both after all!

As for spinoffs? I hope for another Colosseum/XD but rather doubt that. Snap 2 would be fantastic. Another Rumble game maybe...? As long as it has decent multiplayer mode and quality (latter ala the 3DS title, not like the Wii U version from what I read and saw...).

Well I heard rumours that the (still not confirmed) third sequel to Pokemon Sun/Moon, Pokemon Stars, might be released on Switch.

    Pika Pika :chu:

I am still uncertain about whether main games will happen, as this is more of a Wii sequel than a 3DS... at least it seems that way. I do expect we'll hear more about spinoff games for the Switch soon though.
