I've always wanted to make a rom-hack, so here it is. Rage Black is a rom-hack based on BW where nothing is changed, except for wild Pokémon and trainers' teams.

Well, not exactly. In fact, it's closer in design to PokemonChallenge's Emerald Trashlocke. Here's what's changed from regular BW:
- The only Pokémon you can catch aren't very good. Yep, that's right, Patrat-quality Pokémon for the entire game (funnily enough, most early game Pokémon in BW are 'bad').
- Important trainer battles are Double Battles and their Pokémon often have better move-sets.
- Some Pokémon are nerfed, mostly because I don't know how to change static encounters in BW (e.g. Cobalion gets Slow Start).

I wanted to give some less popular Pokémon the time to shine and create difficulty through another means rather than raising levels and giving trainers more Pokémon.
Using BW as the basis allows for people to still have a wide variety of Pokémon available to them. While I enjoy Drayano's hacks like Blaze Black, I'm not a fan of some liberties taken with Pokémon, like changing their typing or abilities. There also aren't many completed NDS romhacks, especially for BW, so I wanted to show it some appreciation.

Even though wild encounters have been changed, I've still tried to make them thematic to the area they're found in – e.g. finding Spinarak in Pinwheel Forest, Numel at the Desert Resort, etc. So yes, Butterfree can be found in Lostlorn Forest.
Also, as it is a Gen V game, priority is still placed on using Pokémon native to Unova. This means there hasn't been many changes to encounters in the early-game. Differences in wild encounters will only start to feel distinct after you reach Pinwheel Forest, but Double Battles should provide you with plenty of novelty until then.
Pokémon are largely decided based on their competitive viability; I've been using Smogon's Gen V NeverUsed tierlist and Untiered Pokémon list as a guide for planning encounters.
Features:
- 100+ mediocre Pokémon to use!
- A more challenging experience?
- Starters replaced with Pansage, Pansear, and Panpour.
- Wild encounters changed.
- Some trainers' teams are changed.
Progress & Goals:
To reach version 1.0, I want to change encounters and important trainers until you beat the game, in addition to Elite Four rematches and Cynthia. Only if I actually get to that point will I consider working on the rest of the post-game stuff.
If the project feels unambitious, it's because making a rom-hack takes a lot of time! Since it's my first rom-hack, I wanted to keep the project more realistic with what I can accomplish.
Current progress:
Spoiler:
- Start of game ➤ Trio Badge (Complete!)
- Trio Badge ➤ Basic Badge (In progress)
- Wild encounters planned until Dragonspiral Tower
