Ruby hack: Pokémon Snakewood Version

Can I get some help for the necropolis part of the game? I've played the game through, encountering a few bugs and soft locks, but I finally got to one I can't seem to get around. In Necropolis, when you get to the 4 carbonate slab people, two of whom are May and Landon, you are supposed to jump down to the next area. I played the game and did everything as I was with no problem, but had to go to sleep for the night. Upon returning to the game, I got to the same area and jumped down, but was dropped into a black screen. Still have menu access and I can reset with save states, but I can't get progress due to being dropped into a void every time after that I try. Any suggestions?
 
I have a question: how am I supposed to evolve my Sneasel? Level 91 and still nothing, is it by happiness by any chance?
